It almost always refers to a narcotics officer, but you do occasionally see it used to refer to other "vice squad" types, undercover policemen, etc... that's kind of unusual, though.

NOT THAT A ONE-ARMED HUMANOID WOLF RUNNING A JUNK SHOP IN HIS GARAGE IS UNUSUAL. Ahem.

Now that I think of it, he could be using it to refer to a person who is the habit of "narcing", or reporting suspicious activity among acquaintances to the authorities, rather than an undercover officer.

Who said i forgot, I say, i say WHO?

This particular "random person" was rather well put together! In fact I would be so bold to say that this character is probably one of the best drawings of a human by Rick so far in this comic.

I believe it's short for "narcotics officer," coming from undercover officers attempting to "buy" drugs so they can arrest the people trying to sell them. EDIT: Yep, Argent beat me to it.

But frequently they're partially obscured.

Yeah, a lot of people only count seeing their face clearly and their eyes have to be shown. Just sayin'.

Cast of the Astec gold doesn't count, Rick. =)

However, this random customer looks much better than the previous humans you've drawn. The expressions on him are much more in-line with the average pet you draw.

That, and his nose.

I don't think he meant you. Someone else asked the same question again.

well that meaning of the word is a metaphor comparing people who do that to undercover narcotics officers reporting their "friends" for illegal drug use. so yes, the second meaning is what he meant, but you need to know the first meaning to understand the second.

I completely agree with this. I don't know why, but I really like how this random person was drawn.

CHAOKOCartoons wrote:dude, why would a junk shop have flatscreen anyway? WHO THROWS OUT FLAT SCREENS???
I always got a kick out of this... "Flat screens" have been around longer than most people think, and in another style that has largely been forgotten. Just before LCD and Plasma started getting (relatively) cheap, there was a large campaign to sell "flat screen" picture tube tv's.

Image

As you can see, it's basically a regular picture tube television with a flat screen instead of the regular rounded glass screen. The claim was that the flat screen produced a better quality image because it didn't distort the image from the lens effect that regular tv's had. But as time went on, LCD and Plasma got cheaper, and many of these "flat screen" tv's were thrown to the curb.

Dear Rick, can I ask, why we have seen the face of "random guy"? In all previous stripes people were no-faced (with a little exception of King... but it's King!). Is it a part of this new style, or the guy will participate in a longer story? And... if there is nothing important behind, does this mean that we will see facec of other humans?

as was stated above, we have seen other human faces. primarily the theives in the Aztec Gold arc. at this point it's mostly only the pets' parents who we don't see the faces of, and that's cause it would ruin the mystery to see them after having them hidden for so long.

Limmerick man, while mysterious and with hair all over his face, can be seen quite clearly too!

I thought he just had that rag because almost any time in a show you will see a mechanic or shop keeper wiping their hands or something with a rag... figured it might be a homage to that...

Actually, the consignment shop down the road from me takes requests, especially on items that arrive and subsequently disappear frequently. That's how I got my wife a jewelry armoire, gave the lady my name and phone number and when the next two of them came in, she gave me a call and I came in and bought it.
