You're the most charming young woman of them all ;_; *walks away grumbling, covered in bruises*

But for the sake of remaining on topic

This may just be one of my favourite strips of the entire comic. Mainly for the conversation between Fido and Ralph. I like the fact that Ralph was most concerned about the fact that is Fido had warned them, they could have avoided all the fighting, and the paperwork/legal issues it provided.

Then Kevin comes in and just makes the entire strip extra hilarious.

Yeah, really. It could have drawn the punchline from the simple fact that this entire situation could have been avoided, but instead let that fact really sink in and drew the most humor from Kevin showing up and being his amazing self.

Sorry. xD Had to edit the post a couple of times because I forgot to keep it PG for a second.

Anyway, it's a webcomic written and drawn by an artist with the pen-name "Chu". In one of the pages where we learn more about the angelic culture in that universe, one of the examples of "swearing" in their language was using the phrase, when translated, "you son of a charming young woman".

Though, we also have King using the line back in 2011 during the Not All Dogs arc.

Huh...so he did. Good memory. I completely forgot about that. xD

Pretty sure it was just coincidence - it's a decent, funny way to avoid a swear. I'd have to look for the page itself, compare dates, and (assuming you made the quote first) ask the artist herself to really get to the bottom of it though.

I can just picture Sabrina dragging Fido along to temporarily be a part of the Imaginate troupe during his three week leave.

Now that you mention it, I can to and that would be awesome. ^^ Fido joining the Imaginate troupe.

SD Page 553 @ October 31st 2012, vs. HP #42 Not All Dogs: Did it Hurt @ May 2nd 2011. Considering the large gap, I'm going to guess coincidence.

Ah...and it seems I was mistaken, as well. It was "you son of an ugly woman" in SD. Sorry about that.

Yup, 553. October 31, 2012

Plus, it looks like it isn't the same quite anyways. "Son of a charming young woman" here on Housepets (from King), and "Son of an ugly woman" on SD.

Oops, little slow on my part. Oh well, mistakes were made, and fixed. All is well in the world.

I love how supportive Ralph is in his own deadpan way. I have a police officer for an uncle and a cousin (not the uncle's son) who pretty much had this same conversation after he 'came out of the closet' so to speak. 'If it ain't illegal, It ain't a problem.' He would say.

Wow, everyone seems to react with even less surprise than I expected!

Even though Ralph has always been pretty professional, I still find it strange that he is behaving so professionally in a private conversation with Fido.

Weren't they best buddies? Why does is Ralph so distant, then?

At any rate, it's not over until the fat lady sings....... or the word "end." appears in the strip.

I love the ambiguity of Ralph's statement about saving bruises and paperwork: it may either mean that the K9U could have helped Fido or stopped him before he even showed up at the wedding. True fair cop^^

I don't completely agree. There are just somethings that everyone are afraid to share with their inner most circle of friends and etc. Heck I have ONLY ONE true friend and I'm afraid to tell him things like that I'm a Brony and a furry. Because I don't know what will happen. I've known him since the first grade in 1999 and we both graduated high school back in 2011. We've been best friends for over a decade and I'm afraid of telling him things about me he doesn't even know. Out of fear of what will happen, this is how I feel that Fido felt like.

He's 'down' because he now knows fully that he let Ralph and the squad down.

Huh...now that I look at this page and the current one back-to-back, it's interesting to see how much the styling has changed in that five-year gap.

But seriously, he's definitely one dog to have certain priorities. But his speech, formal as it was, sounded of friendship in its own way.

Not necessarily. Sure, Bino will enjoy torturing his brother out of the Club (provided Fido has not become a true hero for the pool stunt by then), but now Fido can love Sabrina without any fears for his job as cop anymore. PLUS, he may get to become best buddy with Peanut and Grape, yay!^^

I wouldn't say that so quickly. He still has Fox and Bino to deal with, and Rick hasn't said this is the end yet.

I'm surprised Ralph's okay with it. In fact, it almost sounds like he wishes Fido had told him sooner.

Hopefully Miles and his pack aren't in too much trouble. It looks like Miles and Rodney were the only ones who actually fought the police though.

Well they're at the police station dealing with the aftermath of all this, so I think it's still considered a professional situation.

I don't think it's ever really been indicated that Ralph and Fido are good friends. The fact that Ralph was able to be so suspicious of Fido kind of indicates the opposite. They both work well together, but I think that's about it. So Ralph is happy that he was wrong and Fido's still a good guy. Just because you are friendly with your coworkers doesn't mean you are friends with your coworkers. Police tend to have a tighter bond than the average job but that doesn't mean Ralph and Fido and Kevin go out for orange sodas on the weekends.

Edit: Suddenly giggling my ears off thinking of Ralph full of orange soda.

I love Kevin for being a big only-slightly-dumb musclehead jock who seems to be a really nice guy. A little ego, a little airheaded (but probably a lot smarter than he acts sometimes), but still a good dog! Hmm, I bet Kevin could have taken on Jata...

I think he's just genuinely curious. In an awkwardly Kevin-esque way.

I'm curious about Keene's goon squad. At King and Bailey's wedding they're taller than Keene so they're probably not the black footed ferrets, and they're not the wolves...

Of course they're probably all in post-Karishad-stress-disorder therapy now.

Can't elaborate much since typing this on a phone, but regardless of if the arc is over or not...I think I'm actually a bit disappointed. Just seems too convenient that nothing, it seems, is going to happen; excepting three weeks of leave (reward?) Fido doesn't really have to face any consequences. There is probably more in store and I may be getting ahead of myself with this, but what about Fox and Fido? The GDC? And exactly when was it implied that Ralph had been monitoring/observing Fido like this?

Will write more later, I did enjoy the comic really!

Well "administrative leave" is usually considered a bad mark (but not a terrible one) on your record. We haven't finished the arc yet so we don't know how the rest of the gang will react to Fido. I suspect that most other pets won't really care all that much.

I'll be disappointed in Fox if he gives Fido a hard time but not surprised. He's not always a nice guy, he is a member of Bino's goon squad and has picked on Peanut about this in the past. On the other hand I suspect there may be some other secret cat lovers. Remember, they all admitted to reading Pridelands... If Fox has a very bad reaction then King will probably (try to) never tell him the truth.

Also while Joey gets picked on too, they do let him hang out and play cards and such. They tease him (too much) but they don't completely shun him either.

This strip makes me wonder if Ralph is some kind of robot or something. I get that he was suspicious, but he seems so... hollow...
Don't get me wrong; I think he's a good character and has good morals. I just don't see any compassion or emotions. (except his anger when he flipped out at the wedding...)

I really don't get Kevin's question. It could be my headache messing with me, but the "chasing" doesn't make sense. (man, my head feels like I've been hit for real...)
Is it that Kevin is assuming Fido likes Sabrina for the exercise?
