Today's comic was finished roughly a week ago. I daresay Rick knows quite a lot about the book. :3

More likely he'll hit him between the eyes and kill him that way.

Here it begins. Too little for now, let's see the next strip. Don't exaggerate with the orange soda, Max. ;)

There was a time they had letters on their collar tags.
It's a feature of the actual characters design, the same is for three Arbelt. The collar blue color says that he's Joey.

I've read both the book (a version which was assigned to high school english class) and watched the René Clair movie, both referred to Indians.

actually, the original title was "ten little" followed by what is now known as a volatile racial slur against African-Americans.
"Ten Little Indians" is a slightly less racist version of the rhyme used in the book.

Yes well I'm clearly not going to use that version

If everyone would just agree that the comments section has already acknowledged the original title that would be fine

'Let's Imaginate' is a series of strips in Housepets where they playact shows, plays or Books with paper bag 'hats' that tell which characters from that setting they are playing. This one is the Murder Mystery 'And then There were None' by Agatha Christie. It has ten people brought to 'Indian Island' by a mysterious person who is paying for their stay at a top class hotel. And that's as far through this strip we are.

Orange soda is like alcohol for pets. King once got totally blasted on one can.

No, they are referring to actual indians from India...... with feathers on their heads.

I just realized we haven't seen the effects of that soda on humans yet.... or the name of that brand.

Word of advice to Rick: Prepare for the negative backlash barrage that will come from Bailey/King dying.

Been a while since last time I posted here.
Heh, I'm happy to see a new imaginate arc, and it seems there are two new incorporations in the gang as well!

Now I may be reading too much between the lines, but I think the little figurines actually reveals those who are performing this play and how many characters they play.
Just pay attention to the colors:
Peanut, Grape and Tarot take the role of one character. (Red, purple and green)
Sabrina, Joey and Bailey perform two roles. (Yellow, light blue and cyan)
And I guess the brown one is Maxwell?

I think it's pretty obvious than King is not playing here since it would be rather hard to see him and Tarot in the same room (getting along) when they are supposed to be like mortal enemies and Tarot already said she cannot interfere in his life.
Fido probably is back at work now. And Fox, well, I really doubt he would dare to be seen with Peanut, Joey and they cat friends.

This arc is a reference to a novel called And Then There Were None. In this story, ten people are invited to a mysterious island for different reasons (such as a vacation or job opportunity). These people all killed at least one person. As they stay on this island they all start dying in the same manner as the characters in an old nursery rhyme called "Ten Little Indians".

The numbers and logos don't seem to match up with the book. I won't go into details, because that would be a spoiler, but I suspect the details on the bags are a red herring.

King and Tarot would only be enemies if he were Pete's avatar. Even if she can't interfere with his life, she can still interact with it. As for Fido, they could be playing after hours, and if Bailey is there, I could see Fox giving it a chance. That said, I would also not be surprised if those three were otherwise located throughout this arc.

Given that the original book says nothing about the shape of the island being that of a head of any sort, and that the characters are all British and therefore there are no Southern U.S.-ian accents, I'd say this is more likely a parody of one of the movies made from it. (There were 3... so far.) That actually permits us to speculate about the ending, since the number of people who survive the experience varies. (Spoilers in the next paragraph.)

(Here be spoilers.) (You were warned.) In the novel, all of the characters die in the end, even the butler and the cook. The murderer kills everyone else and then commits suicide, and notifies the outside world of what happened via a message in a bottle. But at least one of the films has multiple survivors. (Okay, spoilers end here.)

Somebody asked, somewhere here, for other parodies, beyond the Family Guy one. Well, the seemingly-endless Japanese cartoon Urusei Yatsura, an earlier work by the creator of Ranma 1/2 and Inu Yasha, did a parody. The characters did it to try to cure the main character of his bad habits, but end up driving him crazy instead. (Since the universe basically resets nearly every episode, this has no repercussions.)

Well this is an interesting way to be introduced to a book. It would be funny if one character eventually and eventfully ruins a imaginate arc, either by refusing to act or maybe one of Joey's friends or Bino ruining it. I look forward to seeing the knee-capping Bino gets if that does happen.
