Based on the feather part, I wonder if Pete took some inspiration from the book title "InkBlood".

Also... I can't be the only person who realizes Pete isn't really exactly EVIL right? Sure, he is a jerk, but he isn't evil really. I like his character. He doesn't do the things he does on a whim. Constantly he says mortals will always get their happy endings, implying he can't have an end, he's immortal, so he can't be happy. Though... Maxwell would beg to differ, considering how angry he got at Dragon out of no where, just because a god got sad.
Can that be a thing? Maxwell and Pete? Maxwell's views on gods vs. Pete's view on mortals. Lordy lord that would be good.

I had a feeling that Bailey would jump in somehow, but until this comic, it never hit me until now and this is the kind of stuff I love about this guessing game Rick gets us to play. I had a feeling that the whole "Dark Paladin" gig was a smoke in the mirror idea, but I can't believe I forgot about Bailey being one. She could be just as good at it as Tarot, which is scary.

I'm just worried about Bailey and Tarot now at this point, but at the same time anxious to see more development more than anything.

This is why Bailey is my favorite character of these comics. Even presented with the fact that King was a human before this, she does what she must because of how much she loves him for who he is now. Now to see what King will do.....and when all this is over (with the idea that the two will stay together as they are now)......will Fox ever find out? This arc has engrossed me.

She knows the truth.
She knows and yet her feelings remains unfazed. She loves King and she will fight, not for birdbrain, but for the love of her life.
This is the stuff true love is made of.

Also, let this strip be the first step toward Pete's downfall to the most bitter defeat EVER.

I legit didn't see it coming. And it's easy for people to SAY they saw it coming in retrospect, but I sure didn't see those predictions on the days leading up to this. Maybe they were there and I just didn't see them. But I'm more of the opinion that this was an angle not too many predicted.

That is one solid contract. Must be made of stone if she's able to sign it like that.

Quite a few saw it coming. My prediction, although spoilered to keep it hidden from those who dislike speculation, was there. That does not make it any less dramatic. I admit that I wish there had been a few more panels of discussion first, but I suppose that's the "rushing" through the arc that's been rumored.

With regards to Baily being an avatar, as I have said previously, just because Pete groomed King to be a Dark Paladin, that doesn't mean there aren't other classes that he could take advantage of. For instance, I would not be surprised if he transformed Baily into a class powered by love ("devotion"). She would be quite powerful in this regard, considering her as-close-as-you-can-reasonably-get-to-unconditional love for King.

Come to think about it... What does Bailey taking King's place accomplish? King still needs to decide whether he's a human or he's a dog, and Pete having Bailey as an avatar still serves that miserable gryphon's end, so... um... what exactly did she give King? I mean, there was no offer made by Pete to keep King as a dog if someone ELSE signed the contract right?

...I don't know. Talking about predictions, I see a contractual double-cross on this end coming. Because up to this point Pete has been a really one-dimensional character (figuratively I mean), and he's probably just going to use his Great Gazoo/Q abilities to cause problems for them again without retribution. But this is becoming more of my anti-Pete speech again so I'll leave it at I think there will be a contractual double-cross and King will still have to face his decision, whether he'll be a human or dog.

I must say, that in the 4th panel when Pete voice "changes" and his dialogue-bubble changes from whtie to black, and also when his pupils turn all yellow ... that is censored epic !!!

Curse my natural instinct to simply lurk, I should have set my prediction when I first thought it...

Basically, this. I kinda expected Pete was going for Bailey rather than King as soon as he pulled her into the whole mess (anyone remember "you cannot fathom how right you are"?) He will let his spell fade like he claims it naturally will, which will make Bailey VERY upset with Pete. This is easily something he can turn against the entire game as a whole, and cause an unending pool of discontent for Bailey. There's no mention of her age as far as I can tell but she is most likely young enough to get a decent finesse bonus as well as old enough for a balanced power bonus (unless it's less of individual +'s and more of a slider... that wasn't exactly explained, though still mostly irrelevant.)

Basically... he's still got his Dark Paladin. Perhaps not his plan all along, but almost definitely the plan once he appeared in response to Kings prayer.

Is Bailey really in the Dark Paladin class?
People keep bringing this up, but it's never been stated and she doesn't seem to fit the archetype laid out by Pete in the trail in Heaven.

...I think that at this point a nice FACE! from King to Keene Milton is in order.
It becomes clear that the filthy ferret accepted to help King's wedding so that they could be together...and so that Keene's new 'partner in business' could get Bailey. And it would be just like Keene, since he wouldn't hesitate to sacrifice Sabrina's happiness for 'the greater good'.
Man, that ferret is more human at hear than King was when he was Joel!!!

Think its time for Bailey to put those fists of hers to good use :3
