Title Text: keep forgetting he has the fire breath

Anyone else take a second to get the Title's joke because your initial thought was grounded as in not able to fly?
Anyone...?
...I mess up so many jokes that way...

Able to leap a building in a single bound,
able to punch a hurricane and swallow grenades,
able to outpace the speediest speeder
he's the greatest ever big hound.
Spot rules supreme over all the skies;
Better than Scooby, Astro or even Penrod.
You can believe in his superiority -
you can believe that he flies.
Well, not today obviously, today he's gonna walk.
Not because he's weakened or hurt or anything,
oh no, because that's not something happens to him.
He's just of the people. You heard the talk!

Gotta' say, this is one of the only Spot (Superdog) comics I didn't understand... PEANUT HAS GOTTEN TOO CLEVER FOR THE COMMON BEING!!!

Then again I think Peanut has always been smarter than the common being. :?

It's a Superman parralel. Kryptonite will rob him of his powers (and kill him) but different chemical compositions of it result in different colours and different effects (like in Superman III). he can turn evil or turn transparant or lose some of his powers. For example, in one JLA story, Ra's Al Ghul exposes Superman to a variety that turns him translucent and means he can't control his super hearing.

Fun Fact: Kryptoninte was invented so Bud Coyler, who voiced Superman on the radio in the 40s/50s, could take a vacation.

Bud did the show live, and was taking some time off. The writers invented Kryptonite so that another actor could mumble a dying Superman's dialog, while the other actors carried the burden of the script. When Bud returned, a cure was found in story. The comic latched on to the substance and made it canon as a way to add drama and danger to their invulnable hero.

Cool, tahnks I didn't know that. :D

This strip is cool. What a way to get over the Celestial Game for a week, show Spot. That's a nice idea. Really gives you mood whiplash, :D

Peanut should know better than using the word "flick" in a comic book. :P

At least the flea/tick wasn't named Clint.

I like to think Peanut spent extra time when he wrote Flick just to make sure he left enough space.

Maybe its back story is that it went mad after a tragic tongue/frozen pole accident

If Mavel readers are 'True Believers' , are Spot readers (Basicly Grape and Joey) 'True Imaginatters'?

Come to think of it, has the term Imaginate been used in the story or just in Rick's titles?

Also just noticed the picture of Spot pressing up against making goofy faces off of and/or crashing into a window under the PBS logo.

Wow, Spot -- those JalapeƱo dog treats really paid off! My two Australian Cattle Dogs were serious Chili Heads -- the hotter the better for those girls.

Anyway, let's see: Spot (superdog) wields great power. With great power comes great -- waitaminnit -- every electrician worth his salt knows that high current should be properly grounded...

It's been a while since we last saw Spot. Of all the powers he could have lost, it had to be the one he would use the most. Now doesn't that suck.

A Spot (Superdog) intermission, Peanut got some time to make one. ;) Good to see the superhero back, but maybe this is being the wrong period. :P
A different kind of orphanite? That's not right... :P Only one temporally lost power isn't nothing for him, but you could take less time to beat a so little villain, if a flea can be called so. Finally, you fail with discourses.

Or, to put it in a Scottish play way, "Out, darn'd Spot! Out I say!"?

The word "Imaginate" has never been used within the comics themselves.

Gravity determines which way down is, so what can you screw it to? :)

It's a long story, and rather than bore folks to death (like I usually do), I'll let them read a very good summary here. CLINT, FLICK and all the rest is in there. And it seems to be a (mostly) a-pockry-full story!

Hmm, yeah. That would be like nailing jelly to a tree. (Thinking...) Okay, gravity is neither a strong force, nor a weak force, so I think we could whip it with some Polka-Dot Orphanite...

Oh, wait -- what would happen to Spot (superdog) if he was exposed to Hound's-Tooth Orphanite? I rue the day!

In fact, it's so rad that around 7 billion people do it everyday!

I like Peanut's attempt to create 3D text in the title panel. I'll say it works, but I find it amusing that he had to write the word in plain text before he added detail to it.

Maybe not as well illustrated, but better written than the inspiration by a long shot.
