Everything we've seen of Pete or Dragon have been metaphors, including their "rooms".Perfesser_Bear wrote:Off Topic, I know, but...
Well, we've seen Spirit Dragon as she really is, and probably "I already told you my name --" "I can't pronounce it." "Oh, well, okay then." Pete (gaming T-shirt). Any guesses what Cerberus really looks like?

King needs to be slapped to his senses then hugged in sympathy.

Aaawww poor little King, now he finally shows how big the burden on his shoulders is.
He carries it how long? Since his wedding? Maybe longer?
I must say I really LOVE it how Rick combines Drama and Comedy.
Oh King watch out for your word or Cerb squeezes you with her giant paws

Poor King, the thing is getting frustrating for him, and it's all comprehensible. The place doesn't do a difference, indeed. You have to understand that, Cerberus. So come on, time for the relax is over, it's time to free Bailey. BTW, you're there to take part of an audience against Pete, aren't you? When will it start?

Probably right when Pete is about to win a boss battle against Dragon, and then when he is about 3 seconds away from winning, he gets summoned to the courtroom.Cesco wrote:Poor King, the thing is getting frustrating for him, and it's all comprehensible. I wonder if Cerbs is acting as an Author Avatar for Rick, encouraging the readers to relax and let the events play out as he originally intended, while King represents those readers fed up with the Galactic Nerds, wanting the storyline over as quickly as possible.

Does Rick ever have pictures from the comic without the text?
That second panel's just pretty freaking adorable.

I know you can always use a picture editing tool and Chroma-Key out the words. Its king of a complicated process but it might work.ArcWolf wrote:Does Rick ever have pictures from the comic without the text?

I think what makes it for me is the third head's ears sagging, the first time I believe any of the heads have shown emotion that way. Plus the way she's not just kneeling but has each foot on its side, also looks like she shrank herself a little to be able to hug him.ArcWolf wrote:Does Rick ever have pictures from the comic without the text?

On the other hand, It looks like King is getting hugged against one of the spikes in Cerbs' collar, which apparently don't go all the way around to the back of her neck

Perhaps. Authors do it sometimes, even without realizing.WhoElseButQuagmire wrote:I wonder if Cerbs is acting as an Author Avatar for Rick, encouraging the readers to relax and let the events play out as he originally intended, while King represents those readers fed up with the Galactic Nerds, wanting the storyline over as quickly as possible.
I kind of like the idea. I respect Rick and his work and if he wanted to insert himself into a character I think this would be a good time to.

Peanut is around five years old (human years), at least according to the Wikifur entry.Obbl wrote:Around Fido's, but I don't think we have a definite for anyone's age.

If that's how old he was at the start of the series he'll be around ten now.gamepopper wrote:Peanut is around five years old (human years), at least according to the Wikifur entry.Obbl wrote:Around Fido's, but I don't think we have a definite for anyone's age.

Except that age is not related to real world time, despite the passing of the seasons. If he was 5 at the beginning, he's probably still 5 now.Argent wrote:If that's how old he was at the start of the series he'll be around ten now.gamepopper wrote:Peanut is around five years old (human years), at least according to the Wikifur entry.

Do you have Word Of Rick on that, because I never got that impression... I got the impression that time was passing in Babylon Acres pretty much how it looked like it was passing.Obbl wrote:Except that age is not related to real world time, despite the passing of the seasons. I'm pretty sure I recall Rick saying that there is no strict adherance of ages to the passing of time. Though time does pass, the characters themselves remain timeless.

So my best guess is that the Housepets Universe lives in a continuity bubble that is found in almost every cartoon ever. Time/age only progresses when the plot says so.Obbl wrote:I'm pretty sure I recall Rick saying that there is no strict adherance of ages to the passing of time. The repetition of "I'm not crying" makes it seem like he is. Or perhaps on the verge of it.
So who is King trying to convince? Cerberus? Or himself?

Re: 2014/07/07 - Cause I Know I Don't Belong
That's the thing... unlike many comics, HousePets actually has time progressing one year in the comic for every year in the real world, with comic seasons mostly matching real world seasons and with in-world references to time roughly matching (to the year, anyway) when the strips posted.gamepopper wrote:So my best guess is that the Housepets Universe lives in a continuity bubble that is found in almost every cartoon ever. To be honest, I hope so. If Rick wants to give his comic a plot, what's wrong with it?WhoElseButQuagmire wrote:I wonder if Cerbs is acting as an Author Avatar for Rick, encouraging the readers to relax and let the events play out as he originally intended, while King represents those readers fed up with the Galactic Nerds, wanting the storyline over as quickly as possible.
Nah, he's just analysing the psychological profile of the author through the comic.gamepopper wrote:I've asked this before, but Quagmire, are you Rick Griffin Incognito? O.o

Yes, and then Cerberus, King, Fox, and his new friends all went for ice cream. That could have been "We (Cerberus) should take them to this", or "We (the whole group) should go to this". This one is the first time, I believe, that Cerberus has made a reference that could only be describing her.WhoElseButQuagmire wrote:A couple of strips ago one of the heads said "I know what we should do."Hedronal wrote:As I've heard it both ways with multi-headed beings, I've been wondering whether Cerberus prefers to be referred to as singular or plural for some time now, I am glad to finally know which.
