I think it was a bit of time travel because there is a noticeable indentation on the pillow next to him. Which implies it can't be to long after Pete POOFED Bailey away. If Bahamut had sent Joel/King back given the amount of time spent in Heaven the pillows would've flattened out by then. On the other paw Joel/King did ask why he was still a corgi, meaning he should be human right now.
When I saw the "To be continued" I had the same reaction King had in the fourth panel here.

I predict the next arc will have King recruit Peanut, Grape, and Fido to stop Pete and Dragon's feud.

I don't think that would matter. I mean the current GM Kitsune doesn't actually seem to do anything inregards to the game.
