I think the sword was in the jacket the Grinch was wearing.

Merry Christmas everyone! Thank you Rick Griffin for the greatest gift of all, finally seeing the faces of most of the Housepets' owners, especially Earl and Jim Sandwich!

Seeing Jake, Jeff and Ryan sitting together made me wonder if they are either long time friends or possibly brothers/cousins, considering that they each adopted a dog from the same litter, which means it is likely that they could've adopted them around the same time.

...oh dear I've gone and thickened the plot.

Just add a little water and stir it up, then cook it down again.

Great ending! Wasn't expecting this because of the day, but this reciting arc had to end on Christmas. :) That logic has sense, if meant in Peanut's way, but effectively the Grinch had a sword inside him. :P The important is have beaten the Grinch and become the new Santa, but what a bad reciting there, Tiger, you had to give better. :P The last panel is so amazing! :D All the owners are disappointed and confused, only the wolves appreciated the show (which probably didn't understand too, but who cares). :D

I can't tell if Peanut on the throne is a Game of Thrones or a Conan the Barbarian reference.

Awesome strip! Great and funny to finally see the owners' faces.

Merry Christmas to all! Hope your holiday has been/will be wonderful. :3

Hey, I just noticed that no one noted this yet... Rick has gotten WAY better at drawing Humans! I mean just look at 'em all! 7 Humans with perfect faces! Even back in HNE Joel looked sort of off at times.

From left to right, here are the audience members sitting in the audience as a reference.

Earl, Bill, Jill, Jerry, Jeff, Ryan, Jake.

Earl: Peanut and Grape's father, Jill's husband
Bill: Fox and Bailey's father
Jill: Peanut and Grape's mother. Earl's wife
Jerry: Tiger, Marvin and Zach's dad
Jeff: Bino and Maxwell's dad, older brother to Jake
Ryan: Fido's dad, childhood friend of Jeff and Jake
Jake: Joey's dad, younger brother of Jeff

Sabrina and Tarot's dad Stanley D'Angelo was MIA, Spo doesn't have an owner since he is not a pet, King is technically owned by the Wolves due to Keene's program. Tarot is technically owned by Stanley D'Angelo since she lives with them and I would assume when he's there he cares for her maybe not like a daughter, but as a friend. I can't imagine Tarot having to fend for herself.

I am sure that King is the legal property of Either the whole Milton family or specifically Keene. Remember Keenes plan to let the wolves live as humans was that the legal documents stated they were his pets but he allowed them to do as they please. King would likely be the same but lives with the wolves because their was Spare room in the house and maybe Keene needed someone to keep an eye on the pack.

As Keene says in this strip, while he is King's owner, it is "technically not true for three separate legal reasons". Don't ask me how that works. I'm not a lawyer ;)

Facial features have improved markedly.

From what I hear from other furry artists, drawing human faces is a harder job because they lack features as distinct as muzzles or markings, so the first attempts can end up looking like nondescript mannequins.

Or you can do what Doc does and literally draw humans as mannequins.

Now THIS is very helpful, I can't call myself a diehard Housepets lore fan so this is great! Now, if there were something like this for my massive extended family...

Now I've got to wondering what kind action 'ch- ch- chee HA-CHAAA' is meant to convey...

Peanut Peanut, now you are in trouble. X3

I mean, Mr. and Mrs. Sandwich look like they are going to punish Peanut for the Violence in a Christmas Play. Which, again, is actually an imaginate thing.

I think that 'ch- ch- chee' is a sound effect, something like the 'Six million dollar cat' effect you can find here,
and 'HA-CHAAA' is just a ninja style shout. But, you know, it's just my opinion

Oh! That makes sense, a bit. Perhaps suspension of disbelief will help it make sense. Thanks!

What a nice gift for the end of the year. Thank you Rick, now we can have an actual idea in mind of what the owners actually look like. And doesn't this plot seem like a B-movie now?

Merry late Christmas to you all.

I am glad we finally get to see Joey's owner, as well as the other owners being there.

This was a great strip, I love it. And I 100% agree with the wolves. :D

I just realized that since Jeff and Jake are brothers, that Bino and Joey are blood brothers and adoptive cousins. Max would also be Joey's cousin. In addition to Fox and Bailey being blood cousins and adoptive siblings.

I am still shocked that Bino and Max share the same owner. Was this mentioned in a previous strip because I can't remember and I am only up to 2010 as far as going over the comic again.

The first time they were together was in the strip "Come On, Its Your Thing" from December 2008, and I think it was pretty much confirmed they lived together a few weeks later in the strip "Best Laid Plans" since they are inside the house. Not to mention in that story arc Bino later gives catnip to Maxwell.

I do wonder which one Jeff got first. I wanna say Bino since he, Fido and Joey came from the same litter and Max came afterwards. Max does seem less mature.

I never really thought about that, interesting when you actually do.

While I do think this is true, maturity does not come with age all the time. I am always yelled at for being immature. :D

Probably one of the best arc to compare Max and Bino age is Housepets Babies! :
seems to be pretty the same, but Fido looks a bit older than Bino, so maybe they are not from the same litter. ;)

Fido, Bino and Joey are brothers but not from the same litter. Fido is definitely older than Bino in Housepets Babies, plus Word of Rick.
And, to me, Max looks older than Bino in Housepets Babies (like Fido and Fox's age), which may suggest Max was adopted first (Especially given the age Bino appears to be).

Pity that Kev and Sasha couldn't make the play, but something tells me they wouldn't know how to properly even if an expert like Peanut taught them. :P

Also, I wonder what's gonna happen this coming week. Something short to reflect New Year's Eve/Day, or maybe Guest Week perhaps?

They are roping rather a lot of the cast into these things.

Now I wanna see Itsuki getting involved in an Imaginate.

Maybe they could do Ponpoko.
