That IS a good point.
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Satau is very clever, maybe we should call it magic.
Re: 2015/07/29 - Peanut Likes Saying Sleepover
I won't lie, to this day I just stop to think about our advancements in technology throughout history, and I'm in awe at what we've eventually been able to figure out, only to ponder just what we'll harness in the future. A lot of this really would be viewed as magic by the people of the past.

Just wait 'til Satau finds out humans are the dominant species! (Unless they already were)

There's a near god on Grape's couch
and the Cat herself is nowhere to be seen.
Satau's perfectly poised, he's no slouch;
she's probably upstairs, having a quick preen.
The nutmaster's entertaining the guy,
with popcorn and comfort and the box.
He's telling his favourite tale on the fly
and the reply knocks him out of his socks
- I know he doesn't wear any, it's a metaphor -
and Satau's adapting to the future well.
If he stays like this, he'll be good for sure
and the female population will swell.

This comic makes me so happy. Peanut looks just so happy, it's making me happy. And the dialogue is funny, it's all so beautiful...

Very good point, although the reason we don't call it magic is because we can explain it.

Ha ha ha ha panel 2 is awesome

When we discover how to make magic(k) in the future, we'll STILL find a way to call it "technology".

To someone from the past this would all seem like magic.

Satau has something to say about everything. Except the popcorn. After a quick search, I found that popcorn actually dates back 5600 years, so that means he's probably had some in his time. Afterwards, I realized I was hungry and ended up making some popcorn. Mmmmmmmm popcorn. Made in a magic box called a microwave.

I just call it mod-tech, which is phonetically as long as magic(k).Argent wrote:That's shorter than "sufficiently advanced technology".King's Men14 wrote:Satau is very clever, maybe we should call it magic.

And the other thing I was going to add before I got ninja'd:
Unfortunately sheep fur is too oily to be a good source of static.
Peanut should have told him it was powered by miniature lightning bolts.
That's even more impressive.

Is Grape still tidying her fur upstairs?
Re: 2015/07/29 - Peanut Likes Saying Sleepover
"No, see, we just have someone rubbing a gigantic sheep in something called a power plant, every minute of every hour of every day, and pulled a really long strand of fur in something called a cable!"
"Not magic at all then. How does that translate into moving pictures?"
"Well, there's 2 mega pixels on the box and we can direct the electricity from that cable in the right ammounts to each one to form a picture"
"... and you don't call that magic..."
...maybe someome should try that!

I wonder what he will think about the modern toilet, will he treat it like a water bowl like most canines or will he figure out what the actual purpose is
Re: 2015/07/29 - Peanut Likes Saying Sleepover
It's actual purpose is not a water bowl?!?
Re: 2015/07/29 - Peanut Likes Saying Sleepover
Let's hope Satau likes popcorn so Peanut won't be disappointed.

Science is rationally understandable, explainable and reproducible without innate supernatural talent. Magic is the very opposite of all these things.

Really nice, Satau is staying for some time at Sandwich's home. A sleepover? And without pajamas? Yeah Satau, that's the wonderful modern life, so similar to yours. Eh, the magic box... Maybe is better return to the storyteller, there's certainly more quality. You have a point, Satau, but that's all due to things called technology and science (and copper wires). You still haven't seen the real magic things of nowadays. Eheh, when Peanut creates doubts...

It'll be just like a sleepover, only they'll be sweaty and covered in grease!
Wait. Not quite.

Magic might have a different meaning in a world where it provably exists.

Actually, thunderstorms are more like rubbing fur than either is like the way we generate electricity.Frank wrote:The way we generate electricity is closer to rubbing sheep than it is to generating thunderstorms

Oh yeah. That's something I can imagine Snape actually saying after Hermione asked.
Though since its been a long time since I watched the movie, I don't know if that was actual dialogue or not.
