Looks like Dragon always like to have a dog and a cat on the team

Ok we now know who did this, and we have an actual hint of what the Avatars can do in terms of power (which I'm always a sucker for). This is going to be interesting, I'm assuming the plan will be a stealth mission as they will likely want to avoid an all out battle.

I'm sure glad Satau put his clothes on before he left the hut.
King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.

More stories, told in the dark,
tell of the secrets of the Dragon.
A truth not revealed;
a King for a Queen,
this is something they didn't bank on.
Equal power set to unequal task,
the cat that guards the temple.
Yearning for love,
still to be seen;
Getting from him won't be simple...

That was the smartest idea, ever.
Clearly.
Clearly.
'puh-taw', if I remember my Egyptian pronunciation correctly.WishIWasHearEarlier wrote:Okay, how is Ptah even pronounced?
Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
Well, as Satau was only the second avatar, seems that Dragon was still trying to figure out how to best split her options. Mistakes are common at that time for just about any gamer.
Though this better explains Satau's surprise that dogs and cats can get along well for the most part; it was a lot worse in his time because of politics!

Side note I realized on second reading - Satau apparently recognizes 3 different modern superheroes!
That or the universal understanding spell works a lot better than just simple translation... which it probably does. :v

Even so, there will be for sure a fight in the end, and Dragon will see both of them fighting over nothing XDIceKitsune wrote:Ok we now know who did this, and we have an actual hint of what the Avatars can do in terms of power (which I'm always a sucker for). I wonder if Satau and Ptah were chief dog and king cat before they got the powers o.o

Does the title indicate Ptah is the SPECTRE of defeat for the guys?
Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
Somehow, I'm sure Peanut would have given him a brief lesson on comic book heroes in the time Satau was with them. They are rather big names.CosmicCoyote wrote:Side note I realized on second reading - Satau apparently recognizes 3 different modern superheroes!

But it would be cool if Satau heard the names of their equivalent folk heroes, but I rather doubt that.

I love Peanut in the last panel. Is he referencing nuclear weapons?

ah, but it's an artifact of almost equal power. Clearly, King Ptah has "semi-phenomenal nearly-cosmic" powersXane wrote:Since Pete was locked up until the very end we can't *quite* judge Dragon against his own actions but I'm pretty sure Pete wouldn't just give sore losers PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS

Was just going off the IPA pronunciation that was listed.
Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
Two near-equally powerful artifacts, and ONE avatar.
I'd call that a decision made already, or did Dragon wanted to make sure to fuel enmity between cats and dogs? Just for the lulz?

Or so that if the cats and dogs got mad at each other anyway(For natural reasons) one group wouldn't be wiped off the Earth.valerio wrote:Two near-equally powerful artifacts, and ONE avatar.

Yeah I think Dragon wanted to make them equal. Does it mean Ptah is her secondary avatar, something like what Sabrina was to Tarot?
Also is Satau sharing his house with ALL the other dogs or is that other big dog his wife?

I have the sneaking suspicion that all of this time junk was actually SUPPOSED to happen, because if it wasn't, everyone in the group but Satau would have ceased to exist.

Heh, I Read that initially as "petaQ"; an insult in Klingon. I know that's not what it was meant as but the mental image is stuck now.
For all we know Rick operates on Dr Who logic and all maner of timey-wimey nonsense can happen.
not if you account for a fractured time line via parallel worlds model (IE: changes produce 'splinter' timelines). also, depends on whether paradoxes in this setting are self correcting (See; Predestination paradox), non self correcting and destructive to the fabric of reality, or "other", which the jury is still out on last I checked, it could go either way.The-J-Man wrote:I have the sneaking suspicion that all of this time junk was actually SUPPOSED to happen, because if it wasn't, everyone in the group but Satau would have ceased to exist.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

For what it's worth, I was also thinking Klingon for the pronunciation. Funny because ST is is many years away. But I must wonder...if Star Wars happened "a long long time ago" does that mean it's happening 'now' for our travelers? I wonder if Satau can long-distance teleport...
Dag nabbed petty annoyances...

It may be that Satau is processing those names as adjectives -- or at least one as a noun. "Super man" and "hulk" may mean something different to him, and "green lantern" may translate in his mind to Tarot's "thing."CosmicCoyote wrote:Side note I realized on second reading - Satau apparently recognizes 3 different modern superheroes!

When I look at the last panel, I realise that Tarot isn't amused. Poor thing now seems to realise how immature her former master was
Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
The "gods" of this world sure don't seem very bright. Well, Kitsune does, but he's a complete troll. Perhaps living in a state of not having to worry about daily problems the way mortals do leads to a "stupid rich kid" kind of mindset?
Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
Good, Satau is thinking on the right way. See to do something to save Grape... Eheh, it's all easy say that for you, Maxwell. But who knows, maybe it's you who will be the hero of the situation. Oh no, Ptah the "king" is a rival of Satau and both have got the same power... How much silly and immature things has Spirit Dragon done in her existence? On the other hand, there could be an interesting battle, again for both, where Satau must win and become the new king. Wow, poor Tarot's nerves...

Wait until Grape realizes she is being "catnapped" to become QUEEN!
The animated signature I've used for years is too big for this forum! When I get time, I'll have to deconstruct it and make it smaller!

Re: 2015/10/09 - Writing On The Wall
Well, remember that Pete, Dragon, and Kitsune are "demi-gods" and not full-on gods. Plus, they've been said to still be "teenagers" so they still have stuff to figure out.Flexico wrote:The "gods" of this world sure don't seem very bright.
