Okay that's a nice twist, I think it was clear there would be some traces of them in the past, but I would had never thought Sabrina would be responsible for it. I think that message was really clear

Well, that's one way to get attention.
Though I assume that most archaeologists would assume that it's someone vandalizing something ancient rather than an actual finding.

...I suddenly feel sad for Sabrina. She misses her dad! But Tarot's reaction was well worth it!

The rock is ancient regardless of the inscription on it, carbon dating isn't a thing for inorganic materials like stone tablets.Xane wrote:They'll probably consider it a prank until they carbon date it and then completely give up on archaeology since thanks to Sabrina the world now makes less than no sense and the only answer is to go insane.CosmicCoyote wrote:Well, that's one way to get attention.

The question more becomes "how did this get with all this archaeologically sensitive stuff?"
And I suppose a better question is, "how did Sabrina figure out where to put this so it would be found? At this exact date and time, no less?"

I was expecting Grape to write "Grape was here, deal with it"TheBlasterizer wrote:I would have expected Peanut to do something like that, not Sabrina
Or for Peanut to have left his Pokemon game behind.
Or or archeologists discovering an ancient Star Wars script inscribed on a tablet.
With the power of magic. And the news. Maybe she watched the news and they were talking about a dig site about to open.CosmicCoyote wrote: And I suppose a better question is, "how did Sabrina figure out where to put this so it would be found? At this exact date and time, no less?"
I feel sad now because Satau, Ptak and the kittens are gone now.

I was fully expecting the Star Wars references to be popping up, as well. Unless Peanut's just not that memorable of a storyteller. He was sure working the crowd there, though...IdleCurator wrote:I was expecting Grape to write "Grape was here, deal with it"TheBlasterizer wrote:I would have expected Peanut to do something like that, not Sabrina

A hidden joke, a little plea
that's gone down in history;
a question, from Daughter to Dad,
the most important she's ever had.
Two days out, two days gone,
two days we still ponder on.
What worry they caused to their others
Their owners, fathers and their 'brothers'
No little tricks, no Paradox
to knock explorers from their socks.
Who'd have thought she'd need the message
to pique her dad into the safest passage?

Technically it's not meddling with time if it wasn't discovered before they returned.

If Peanut hadn't said the "remember what you learned" line then it might have stuck around. Remember how Dragon told him to not start religions because it was her job? She probably wiped the Star Wars references from the kittens' minds. (sad as it sounds)Stubat wrote:I was fully expecting the Star Wars references to be popping up, as well. So if they'd gone with the original plan, they would have changed the past, so it had to fail for them to succeed.

And again I'm the only one noticing what's up with the pyramid on the tv? The other one is squared and toppled!

They date inorganic finds indirectly, by carbon-dating organic material layered on top of it.CosmicCoyote wrote:The rock is ancient regardless of the inscription on it, carbon dating isn't a thing for inorganic materials like stone tablets.Xane wrote:They'll probably consider it a prank until they carbon date it and then completely give up on archaeology since thanks to Sabrina the world now makes less than no sense and the only answer is to go insane.CosmicCoyote wrote:Though I assume that most archaeologists would assume that it's someone vandalizing something ancient rather than an actual finding.

Don't worry, Tarot, and as Sabrina means, that time travel could go worse. You left that sign, Sabrina? What a liar you are, and you define it a little thing... Oh, Sabrina, why right you? This is a worse danger than the one who let Pete know about the purple cat...

Does Tarot have an owner?

Tarot lives with Sabrina and her owner, but she herself does not have one.Backlash wrote:Does Tarot have an owner?

Re: 2015/11/23 - Cats In The Cradle
It is the corrective model of time travel. Put simply when a minor change is made the time line will adjust itself to result in the the same present from the time travellers' perspectives. Well, not strictly their perspectives, but enough to not change their actions when they travel into the past. That is why this discovery could not surface before now, because if the message already appeared then Sabrina wouldn't have the motivation to write it because it is there already.CosmicCoyote wrote:And I suppose a better question is, "how did Sabrina figure out where to put this so it would be found? Of course if a major change takes place and a perfect loop can't be formed, then a paradox will occur. Given that other dimensions exist it is not hard to assume that a major change would diverge into a new timeline.

Why do you think they do that whole "wake up" thing?

Why does it feel like Rick was projecting his thoughts on writing this arc onto Tarot?

I don't know. It looks like Tarot tends to get frustrated easily so I hope its not the same for Rick.
If it is, Furret can learn Frustration so its all good.

Wait, has Sabrina's father ever been mentioned in the comic before this? I can't remember...

Re: 2015/11/23 - Cats In The Cradle
He was mentioned in the arc with Jata, and in the side-story where she met the coyotes (https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/11/ ... can-nomad/).
Also, while I think of it, that should be "Cat's in the Cradle" since there's only one cat in this strip.

Re: 2015/11/23 - Cats In The Cradle
Speaking of Cats in the Cradle, who remembers what the first one was? You'll notice this one's url has it labeled "cats-in-the-cradle-2". This has been popping up a bit recently actually, Rick's been reusing comic titles.

You are forgiven! I seen comics do it at times. Archie being the biggest culprit.rickgriffin wrote:Gimme a break, I passed 1000 strips!
... just watch out. I don't know what happens the third time. Maybe a universe where comic artists reuse the same title over and over again. :3
