Elaine won. I don't care if this wasn't a duel, Elaine won.

King, there was not really need of the vet; I have plenty confidence in Elaine, she knows the important parts! :3

You don't... you don't really need... instruments... for those things. At the most, a watch would be helpful. I believe the vet's intention was to point out his superior qualification versus a midwife.

I was expecting another vet :mrgreen:
Why do I have the feeling, that the last panel contains an innuendo :?:
Maybe it's just me.
At least the doc is polite :lol:

Mr. Vet knows what he's doing
but is oblivious to Wolfy ways;
bustling through the throng
only to find Elaine, who stays.
She hasn't done the human things;
she doesn't actually know how.
She needs her mothers' education
but it's just a little bit late now.
She knows what goes into it
and is willing to pick up the slack;
she may be after cubs anyway…
all I can say is Poor Jack.

Doctor seems like a complete jerk right off the bat. I can see that the wolves are probably gonna throw him out and threaten King that if he ever brings another vet in the house he'll be needing one. :3

Mother's pulse and such , in the second panel . I don't know a lot about it ; but isn't it more an human thing than an animal one ? I'm asking to myself if Elaine's mother wouldn't be more efficient than this "veto" ? :mrgreen:

"What goes into a birth ?" "That part's easy" ........................... Hmmmm ; Elaine , soon your turn ? :oops:

Well, that was one joke I wasn't expecting, bravo Elaine. Also, poor vet guy, the wolves may not need any technical stuff to get by but at least for King's sake let the vet do his job!

Oh, you'd be surprised at the amount of crossover between human and animal medicine. And remember that the animals here are a lot more like humans than the animals in our world so the crossover would be greater still there.

Not judging by Elaine's quip about 'breaking in' the bed a few strips back.

Elaine: "I helped deliver cubs in this house before, and one out of the four of them came out normal enough."

Or

"Of course I do, it's just not easy hunting and catching a stork!"

They're all reasonable questions, actually, and the kind of thing someone trained as a midwife ought to know.

Her mother was mentioned last time as well. Elaine is coming across as someone that likes to balance everything along with Jack.
