Okay, I was wrong about the end of year eight strip being today. Maybe on Friday.

Also, the you have to wake up trick? One of the most used things in Housepets, and yet I usually forget it. At least Keene isn't dead.

Breel's choice of words was pretty funny. Good that Keene learned from all of this. Also, finally someone brings up the weirdness of the interspecies thing. Just surprised that it was Keene who mentioned it, and not Fox or Bailey. So, I guess on Friday we learn just how Keene got to Heaven in the first place. Astral Projection, or near-death experience?

And now I'm imagining Keene's soul literally falling towards his mortal body like in Beverly Hills Ninja.

Also standard celestial policy is you wake up with some kind of proof that it wasn't a dream.

What are the odds he's surrounded by the K9 cops acting as pet EMTs, so he gets to give Fox the letter right away.

Giant robot fell on the car, and Keene survived because he'd fallen asleep on the floor.
Car drove off bridge, Keene rescued by an otter on vacation from the zoo.
Accident with a time machine and a portal to the Gallifrax dimension. Karishad and Zach effect rescue.

Well.... about today's comic.

1. I am happy Keene is alive.

2. This was a nice ending Scrooge-esk but that's always fun.

3. Usually when they "wake up" they have some token of the meeting proving that it wasn't all a dream... I'm betting that the token is going to be that letter to Fox. Makes me wonder if that green angel is going to play a bigger role in the future, perhaps as Fox's companion or love interest.

I'm sure on Friday we'll find out. This is likely, as I suspected (hoped), a near-death experience.

(Keep in mind, I haven't been able to attend a stream where they were drawing the comic in a while, so I am not privy to what happens next.)

To be fair, Henry isn't his actual dad, just his adopted one. Keene had a very different relationship with him, perhaps he never met his actual biological father.
... Unless you mean to tell me that Henry IS his biological father. I don't want to think about that. D:
