I must admit, though, Spot looks more like a Predator than any tokusatsu I've seen. But it could be mostly the fact that my experience with that genre is incredibly limited.

except super sentai only refers to one series that has a team. sentai literally translates to team. all the rest are just tokusatsu. or toku-spot-su(perdog) in this case

Nice armor! Spot is the hero we deserve! But yeah, if only he could clone himself or if Joey could also redesign Bat-Bat, the Underwater Mutt, Mr. Sorceror, and Krunlk. Then you can have a really super tokusentai, tokusentai, tokusen-... I'll stop there (can't imagine them all posing like that). Great job Superstar and Neowulf.

You are mostly correct. Japanese Spiderman is outside the Super Sentai range. Just. Toei and Marvel had a deal where each could use and adapt the others characters as they saw fit for three years. Now Toei has to pay Marvel for every picture used of Spiderman. So they don't show him much. The second such adaptation was Captain America, who became Miss America, part of the official Super Sentai team 'Battle fever J', complete with the Giant robot idea introduced to the range in Spiderman.

So, if you want to know who's to blame for the predictable fight endings? Blame the wall crawler.
