They spoke to each other a bit in 'Pageantate!' and in Heaven's Not Enough (though Peanut didn't know it was King in the latter part), but this is the first time they've spoken to each other outside of Imaginate with King being, well, King.

No police responsibilities, no wolf customs, no strength-so-high-it's-like-they-live-in-a-world-of-cardboard, no millionaire eccentricities, no supernatural abilities, no knack for puns and chaos, no innate self-centeredness and massive ego - just the simplicity and normalcy of modern housepets...who like playing video games and imaginate. Plus, Fox trusts them, and you trust Fox, and Peanut does have some prior pup-sitting experience (or cub-sitting, technically, I guess), so there's that.

You're really not going to get any better than them if everyone else is considered to be too dangerous for your standards.
