Title Text: You wouldn't want a full-on angel anyway,...there's like six wings, a hundred eyes, and this one guy's that just a wheel?
He'll be there for Keene through it all, even if saving him sends him BACK to Heaven.

Yep! Keene's Genre Savvy. Also, Breel is so awesome.

Why bother with technical definitions to differentiate two non-living entities when you could just point out your wicked sick halo?
(Also, all of these Breel frames have been completely flawless and absolutely adorable so far. Probably because he's flawless though)

I can play pitch and toss
with the halo if I want
But i'm neither crude nor rude
So I certainly won't.
How to explain my visit?
How to move on the path he"s son
Perhaps I'll do it like Marley;
In a musical, with a song
It's lovely to see him here,
back among the happy and the dead.
Now I have to quosh his fear
That all this is only in his head.

Oh Dante's Divine Comedy, you came up with the darnedest things to describe angels!Title Text: You wouldn't want a full-on angel anyway,...there's like six wings, a hundred eyes, and this one guy's that just a wheel?

Re: 2017/06/07 - That A Ghost
I think it was John of Patmos who came up with those. Not to be confused with Saint John, or Prince John, though I think at least a couple of the angels in Revelations were lions too.House42 wrote:Oh Dante's Divine Comedy, you came up with the darnedest things to describe angels!Title Text: You wouldn't want a full-on angel anyway,...there's like six wings, a hundred eyes, and this one guy's that just a wheel?

Cool halo? Obviously Breel is a descendant -- or an incarnation -- of Ptah.
King looks an awful lot like my own Corgi. That's one reason why he's my favorite, but I also like his attitude.

Ptah himself, methinks.Bill in OK wrote:Cool halo? Obviously Breel is a descendant -- or an incarnation -- of Ptah.

Breel doesn't want to admit it, but he's got 24 hours to fix Keene's mess :3

Breel is going to come to like using the term "muse" for this. He's also extremely adorable in the second panel. :3

The heck kind of an angel is that? Its defiantly not the Judaeo-Christian definition of one, and i'm not sure other religious groups have angels, they tend to have there own spiritual beings.

actually it IS the Judaeo-Christian version. albeit the original one. Seraphim & Cherubim as originally described in the texts they first appeared, are depicted VERY differently than how most people these days think of them.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Those are the Angels of the Old Testament, before the New Testament. As a matter of fact, much of the Old Testament's text is vastly different from the New Testament.Adoring Fan wrote:D-Rock wrote:[2017/06/07 - That A Ghost ]

I already said it, Keene: Breel is your new guardian angel, he came to help you, he's not just a simple ghost. Indeed, the cool halo means that, and it makes you look good. Good explaining, Breel.
Re: 2017/06/07 - That A Ghost
I do love Breel's little teefies
Re: 2017/06/07 - That A Ghost
This strip is briefly referencing the angels as described in the Hebrew Tanakh and the Christian Bible (and probably some other subsequent works). Let's not get into a larger theological discussion that most of us are thoroughly unequipped to handle.John-056 wrote:Those are the Angels of the Old Testament, before the New Testament. Breel's expressions are all so cute! He looks so sincere
And I love Keene's grump at the end

Now THAT is very interesting. I suddenly feel the need to read the bible and check religious works both to confirm as well as investigate this matter more. That's another thing i will have to add to the "how has house-pets changed my behavior" thread! XD
Re: 2017/06/07 - That A Ghost
As a dude with a very Biblically studious father, I can confirm yeah they're there. Though there are some parts that are up for interpretation, if you're gonna look into it try checking the same verses out in the oldest translations you can find.Adoring Fan wrote:Buster wrote:actually it IS the Judaeo-Christian version. albeit the original one. Fox got a letter from the green and pink huskies telling him they were coming. Possible that this is just the first wave as the Hosts of Heaven come to the Earthly?
Re: 2017/06/07 - That A Ghost
When they said they were coming soon, i got the impression he already met them before this arc, but I could be wrong. Hopefully we do =P

According to the TV Tropes page for "Eyes Do Not Belong There":Buster wrote:actually it IS the Judaeo-Christian version. albeit the original one. TV Tropes wrote:The Bible describes some angels as having eyes on all sides of their bodies, making this Older Than Feudalism. Among these angels are angelic beings referred to as Ophans or Ophanim. They make an appearance in the book of Ezekiel and are described as looking like beryl colored wheels within wheels with rims full of eyes. It seems angels, in true Abrahamic tradition, are terrifying beings of grotesque body horror. Jewish tradition describes Azrael, the angel of death, with a body consisting of nothing but eyes and Christian tradition also includes tongues whose number corresponds to the number of people inhabiting the Earth. Metatron, the Face of God and Heavenly Scribe in Jewish mysticism, is said to have a million eyes (and mouths) all over his body. Several Angels and other celestial beings have strange number or placement of eyes, such as hundreds covering their wings. Turns out there was more than one reason to start every conversation with "Do not be afraid"!
