Title Text: it's a NICE smell, like . . . flowers? Probably why I barely noticed! So . . . fragrant

I mean, who in the forest doesn't scent mark?

Called it.

Not the sauciest history but definitely spicy.

Probably couldn’t hurt to go ahead and say she looks more beautiful.

Jack is so in a world of hurt. I still say Gale is responsible for Jack's missing arm. Cuz according the page, she holds him responsible for her scarred face. Scarring a puma's face will cost you an arm and a leg, or in Jack's case, an arm. Hehe discount humor.

The Facebook post seems to imply that is true. We shall see.

Jack: Now, Gale, I don't know what happened to your cat pillow.

Max: *is hiding behind Grape's back. As if a mysterious force wants him back*

In all seriousness, I suspect he's talking about Pueblo, but could also be talking about her mate or face.

Yeah I think Elaine lied when she said that Jack lost his arm in the garbage disposal. She probably did that to prevent the wolf cubs to grow up to be like him.

Come on, Jack, it’s time to tell the truth.
Illuminate us all to the lady from your youth.
Unless, of course, it’s something you have done.
Then the time for pleading has just about begun.
Gale knows you of old and your name.
She knows your tricks and, likewise, your game.
She knows all of your little delaying tactics.
That’s why she crunched that branch to matchsticks.
You can clear things up with the honest truth
(If she’ll believe it from someone so uncouth)
But don’t forget you can fall back on your wit.
They’re certainly in need of laughs in her pit.

Just someone who pops a few lines up with my thoughts on the strip.

Okay, Theory Time.

Jack knows Gale and let's assume that Gale was either responsible or partly responsible for Jack losing his arm (He clearly did not lose it in a disposal for several reasons and we can chalk that scene up as a bad joke) and Jack was partly responsible for Gale's scar. The question becomes how did she get the scar? Either Dead-Eye or Miles or even Poncho (wouldn't that be a twist). Now Jack will be thrown into the pit or escape to warn Miles about Gale's appearance. We shall have to wait and see.

Still hoping for...saucy history between these two.

Maybe they DID have a relationship and Elaine found out. Then it turned into a cat & wolf fight and that's how Gale got the scar. I don't think I could handle that level of saucy.

Y'all, Elaine clearly stated that they were both "telling stories". It was always meant to be obviously untrue

I always find it weird that hucksters immediately go for the effusive praise angle instead of jumping right away to the "this is a misunderstanding" part... People are generally pretty good at recognizing when someone's trying to flatter them.

Can't resist:
"This is your territory?
All yours?
And you didn't know that?
What? Me? I d-- no! Did you?
No! Of course not!

She's probably not as "sore" as you're gonna be, Jack. Still, "Fingers" denies personal responsibility for the slash. A "group effort", pack vs an interloper puma, maybe? So, we now know it's not just territoriality in the feud....

This is the first time any real dialogue has been established between Gale and the wolfs. If this conflict could be resolved with one strip worth of dialogue with Jack explaining they didn't know it was her territory and they were planing on leaving soon anyway, I don't see why that wouldn't happen next strip. Miles will be initially disappointed because they would be evicted before his family could be whipped into shape, but he'll see it was plenty effective when his cubs get ready for school.

.

Even if it wasn't directed at Jack, it could give deeper meaning to Miles suggesting Pancho could find a nice cat out in the woods.

That was my concern initially but the scar is a nice plot device that raises the stakes. We might see a different side of Miles once he finds out that his kids and brothers were thrown in a pit. I can’t imagine Gale would go through the trouble of just letting them go that easily. Clearly we have a lot of bad blood between the two species (natural instinct) that will not be resolved. Rescue mission it is. Draw the battle plans! We strike at midnight!

The "saucy" situation between Gale and Jack may turn out be what "sauce" she considers appropriate for basting a one-armed wolf roasting ....

Oh, no, Gale doesn't seem to go to be any gentle with the poor Jack... :? So, between them, there are old grudges. I don't think that's so nice for you to see her again, Jack. :) What is he talking about? Maybe it's about her (apparently missing) mate? :o Yeah, it's now her territory, and you city wolves shouldn't care anymore about it. ;) Wow, Gale's strength is scary, anyway. :P

Finally! Someone said it!
Wednesday update should be, "Wait, what do you mean, 'my territory now'? That was the deal when you all left."

Just realized all of those pieces of wood splinters flying around after Gale crushed that stick. That is going to be tough to get out of your fur. Splinters galore.

Hey, Fox DID follow through on his threat. Eventually.
He did come very close though. He threw Joel against the wall, punched him (notice it was the exact same place as the first time we met him), slapped him across the face, and was one step away from throttling him but broke down. I love that scene. Four years of friendship killed the mood. He also came very close to doing his first threat which was tearing him apart.

I’d love if Gale pulled a Dr. Strange.
“So, if you wolves were to lose your desire to be wild, all parties involved would return to Babylon Gardens?”
“Promptly.”
“Great, then I’ll help you.”

I was looking through Aesop's Fables and I found something that reminded me of this chapter. It's called "The Lion's Share"

"The Lion and several other beasts once agreed to live peaceably together in the forest, sharing equally all the spoils of hunting. One day, a fine fat Stag fell into a snare set by the Goat, who thereupon called the rest together. The Lion divided the Stag into four parts. Taking the best piece for himself, he said, "This is mine, of course, as I am the Lion." Taking another portion, he added, "This too is mine by right—the right, if you must know, of the strongest." Further, putting aside the third piece, "That's for the most valiant." said he; "and as for the remaining part, touch it if you dare."
The moral is Might makes right.
