Well... it appears there won't be a fight or at least not a long one

I feel like I’ve seen this somewhere before. Like in a fighting game or anime. Maybe a Zelda or Mario game. You know what, it does remind me of the battle with Ansem in Kingdom Hearts. When he has his arms crossed and that shadow does all the attacks.

That’s the face of someone who’s had...saucy history.

Doesn't really seem like a fair fight.

Well he's missing an arm and she can crush coconuts with her elbow pits.

She has his ire up as she hears the scene
and he only looks to where she’s been.
Telling tales of Miles and his pack
won’t save the one armed bandit, Jack.
She’s patient and having some fun.
The taunting of her enemy has just begun.
She intends to collect them all, it seems
as he status and honour she redeems.
If Miles knew she was there or he forgot,
a cool week of camping just became hot.
There’s no question this week will fail
as, one by one, they all fall to Gale.

I think this is the song that's being referenced.

If Gale is just concerned about hunting rights then King and Co should be fine at least.

Too bad about the others...

Great song, forgettable group.

I'd be going "that song by, uh, simon and garfunkel, no, that hippy group, you know the one, what do you mean which one?"

Words by Ecclesiastes ... good read for a rainy day but its not rained serious here for too long.

Well, we might be moving towards negotiating positions.

Miles: "OKAY, we'll leave and never come back ... You release my pack. Oh, and you have to keep Jack! Want a hot dog, by the way?"

A time to dig a big hole.
A time to kidnap some wolves.
A time to hug. A time to run.
A time to refrain from murder-ation.

Gale: “No. This is what’s going to happen. You leave and never come back and I MIGHT think about releasing your pack members. Or maybe I’ll keep them and let Pueblo play with them some more.

Miles: “Or we leave and return with Uncle Dead-eye.”

Gale: “.....What was that about a hot dog?”

Could you imagine if King got kidnapped?!

King: "First it was my own pets, then a crazy demigod, and now a cougar!! Why does this keep happening to me?! What did I ever do to deserve...oh right."

Eheheh, it turned in a comical situation. It couldn't go otherwise with Jack in it. :D Yeah, they're gonna "invade" your territory for little time, Gale, and indeed, it's all Miles' fault! :P Oh, Jack, don't play the hero game with her. That's a bad joke on yourself, though. ;) Wow, eh, she moves really fast, as a real feline does. :D Well, it's evident that she doesn't want to beat with you, Jack, and it's good for you, but probably, you're the next one to be caught. Miles is going to be her real objective... :?

Yay, talking things out and explaining like normal human... er, normal people. Mathematically, Jack should be able to rotate faster then Gale can sidestep. Why does Jack facepalm in pale 2?

You have to remember this is camping-mode King we're dealing with. Wild animals just add to the fun.

I suppose at the very least, she seems far less angry and more just annoyed at Jack now.

I was thinking that "Take that up with Miles!" came out as a reflex (passing the problem up to the leader to deal with), but as soon as he said that he would have remembered that the whole reason they're out here is to prove to Miles that they can handle themselves in the wild. Passing this to Miles kinda defeats the purpose, I'd think

Well, ducking responsibility is kinda what Jack does but I think Gale's tactic is to work her way up to Miles and, with his pack in the pit, have him in a badly constrained negotiating position...

Capturing them is harder then killing them so because she tossed them all in a pit she wants to keep them alive. Combine the reveal that her main contention is them hunting and eating on her territory with the fact she doesn't want them to starve (due to the aforementioned not-killing) we can deduce that whatever she's planing, neither the wolfs nor Gale wants the wolfs to stay in the pit for long.

My guess is that she merely wants to show them who's in charge now. Besides, the pit looks like it's in her home, and I doubt she'd want to keep them for long. Longer she keeps them, the greater the risk of this blowing up in her face.

Throwing them into the pit weakens the pack. Take out the weakest links, the Daryls then go after the young cubs (ironic when you think about it). That leaves the pack weakened as well as gives Gale a few bargaining chips. You can't have too many in the pit because that is too many to control for one person (I learned that from Criminal Minds). They're not even tied up. Jack is no threat so that leaves Poncho, North Star, Miles, and Lucretia. Killing them would only instill anger and wrath of the pack which is what any sensible person would want to avoid especially one with a young cub. Eye for an eye and all that.

The question becomes how long will she want to keep them? From a story perspective letting them go once Miles agrees to leave is boring. So she would have to keep them long enough to ensure that Miles does in fact leave then let them go afterwards. But there is the possibility that she may hold on to one as leverage to ensure that they never come back. That would lead to a rescue mission which is where I see this story going.

We need to remember that this is clearly more than a power struggle or just a territorial dispute. The wolves and Gale clearly have history. Gale's scar is proof of that. She may want revenge for whatever happened between them. The "hunting on my land" comment may be an excuse to enact her vengeance against the wolves or at least have a excuse to target them. Or their history could just be what is adding fuel to the fire of them entering what she perceives as her land. She's projecting her hostility of whatever happened to her onto the idea that they are trespassing and stealing her food. If you've ever read the "Warriors" series then you know that cats are very hostile when it comes to someone hunting in their territory.

I find it interesting that Gale seems to be taking her time with Jack. I wonder what their history is? It seems to have something to do with her scar, and I'm guessing it might possibly have something to do with his missing arm.

Yeesh, Jack can't catch a break on that one, can he?

I'm guessing Gale is "taking her time with" Jack because he's no challenge, she finds him mildly amusing, and he might accidentally something she needs to know. Besides, cats like to "play" with their intended victims. Ulp….
