Title Text: there's a jaguar ghost standing behind me, isn't there?

Starting to think that this "learn how tough the wild really is" lesson is just as eye-opening for Miles as it is for the others.

Part of me says Gale would pushed him in, part me of says Miles would sense Gale and push her in instead.

In this land of ours, there are many great pits. But none more full of wolfs than the cougar pit. Which as you can see here is full of wolfs.

I got a feeling Miles will turn out to be much stronger than Gale when they start fighting.

That is literally the most “Miles” thing he has ever said!

Okay, now to more pressing concerns... I’m sorry, that is too funny. Seriously what is up with the glass in the third panel.

Now to what I really wanted to say.... HA Ha ha.
I’m done.

Seriously, what is Gale’s deal? Like I’ve asked that question since June. We’ve had some laughs. I pointed out how this is reminiscent of that one episode of “HIMYM” and the “pit guy” joke. Now it is really like that now! Seriously, what is she thinking? “I’m going to throw everyone in a pit like in the Silence if the Lambs.” I mean okay, Miles hurt you. We all saw the flashbacks. But really? What is her final goal, leave them there and move into their house? Let them starve? Force them to listen to her complain about how wronged she was instead of, I don’t know, seeing a therapist? I’m sure King could recommend one. Tell them that she has moved one with her life and is stronger now than ever.

Either way I hope we have that looooooong overdue conversation where we put everything on the table and express our issues with one another. I’m sure that’s what King’s therapist would recommend. Or a climactic fight scene of Miles vs Gale. That would work too.

Please note the lack of Kings, Baileys and pups in the pit. That answers that question. "Leave us alone and we'll leave you alone" seems to have been the order of the Bailey.

Down amongst the caught Wolves,
wandering in the Cougar’s cave.
Accepting her invitation,
Miles is feeling brave.
Some are happy to see him;
there’s at least one that’s not.
Ahead of him are family;
behind him the one he forgot.
It’s time for the final chat
and possibly the final battle.
The immovable Gale waits
with the pack serving as chattel...

Hang on, can we all take a moment to recognize that Miles just found his entire family in a pit in a dark cave that is home to a dangerous predator and all he can think to say is “oh no—stay calm.”

Like really, I can think a hundred more creative things to say in that situation other than “oh no”
I mean really. That’s his first reaction. Calm under pressure is one thing but seriously. Get mad. Get upset. React in a more believable way.

I still can’t get over that last scene. That is the MOST “Miles” thing I have ever seen.

He's actually more relieved than anything because he didn't know what had happened to them--it's still worrying, but now it's a solvable problem

He's forgotten for a moment where he is

Honestly, Rick, I'm having trouble fitting Miles into that scenario. Peanut, even King, that would be OK, but Miles knows Gale is there and knows her history. He's gotta be playing along so he can take her down when she jumps him.

I was gonna point out the lack of a Poncho or North Star. Did they not also get the pit treatment after getting trounced in the woods? If not, why? Are they tied up elswhere in Gale's lair? I could understand maybe having Poncho tied up in her sleeping quarters where she plans to have her big speech for Miles, but if that were the case, I'd expect Poncho and either Jack or Lucretia, since they have some history with Gale, unlike North Star who wasn't alive at the time. Hmmm.

I interpreted it as more "forgotten he is in the wild". In that he has gotten used to being able to trust others wont just attack him from living in civilization and so skipped the step of "check for danger" and went straight to the step "find a solution" when trying to problem solve this situation.

Like Welsh, I'm just kinda stuck on "where's King and his crew?". I find it hard to believe that he and Bailey would not sense the danger Gale poses to the pack and not do something after all the wolves have done for them.

...and how did Gale get out of Bailey's evisceration throat clutch? ...and where's Pueblo? He might figure in the solution to all this tumult.

...and I think Argent's got it - Miles knows he's been invited into a trap.

If this so ends with Miles bending over and tripping Gale into the pit...

*manical laughter*

Miles can’t fall in the pit for one simple reason. If he does then it’s game over. Of course there are other scenarios that could happen IF he falls in the pit. For starters, I still question the logic behind putting 8 wolves together in a pit. Why after all this time has no one thoug to stand on each other’s shoulders or form a pyramid to climb out. They have the rope that Daryl was tied up in. With Miles there them they have even better chance to escape.
Then there is my favorite scenario. Miles gets pushed into the pit. Gale starts laughing maniacally. Miles turns to the others and tells them “It’s up to King to save us now.” Everyone groans. Ninja spatula powers activate!

Ah, so that pit is inside Gale's den. This makes it more dangerous... :? Good that the wolves are fine, but probably they're tired and hungry (especially the other Daryl ;)). Well, Miles reached Gale's den, as she told him, but, why now looks like she wants to pounce on him? Oh no, it's a trap! She wants to push him in the pit! :o Eh, that's a small misunderstanding, but isn't good so for Miles... Gale is always so frightening.

You know he would make a really good cop. Like he is the type of guy you see in a cop show where they find the victim in someone’s basement or held hostage and still remain calm and collected. A little training and he’ll be awesome. I guess all those years working security for the Milton’s paid off. Although he never dealt with a serious threat working for the Milton’s so that explains the lack of Awareness.
Also when you think about it, this world is so different that even in the wild predators don’t need the same level of awareness because animals don’t normally attack because of base instincts. So even in the wild Miles was probably never faced a real threat before that would require him to react in a prepared way. In a strange way they’ve all lived in this bubble their entire lives. Returning to the wild would have been a good idea if they actually had real expertise dealing with real dangers. Before now Gale was the only threatening creature living with them and she was their friend.

Long rambling short, Miles is calm because he doesn’t have the previous exposure or experience to tell him that they are in real danger and that the problem they are faced with is much more serious than he initially realized. Okay, now I understand. thanks for explaining that Rick.

This...is seeming too straightforward.

Call crazy but this is starting to seem somewhat too...linear. No that's not the word.

OBVIOUS. It's seeming too obvious a conclusion for what's going on.

This is a shot in the dark but I feel like Gale might be in on what's going on. Let's be honest Rick is known for serious curveballs that don't line up until after it all resolves.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Miles somehow got Gale to help him teach the pups a lesson.

Either that or maybe Gale might end up curious about life in the burbs.

I don't think this is going to go well for Gale. Remember Miles worked security for the Milton Ferrets, and to be allowed to work as security he would have had to have gone through the training and certification courses.
Which means Miles is trained to handle someone jumping him from behind...

Still, I suspect - unlike the others - Miles may have gotten a subconscious warning that the Puma was plotting something more than a free and frank exchange of views. Gale's rather belittling crack "Don't dawdle" (almost a command) suggests she's subtly goading the wolf to let his guard down...

It'll probably look something like this Image
(Gale being King and Miles being Bino if that's not clear. Joey being Miles to if Rick wants to drag this out some more.)

That's one advantage to staging an ambush in your lair. The whole place already smells like cougar.
