I couldn’t handle it if something this interesting was happening and I wasn’t there to witness it. I think Jeff should be there anyway to get a better understanding of Max’s past and how to carry forward through the future.
Considering it’s the most obvious thing that the first supernatural thing the owners are gonna find out about is the coin, I kinda gonna think they were lucky so far to not get involved. I really can’t wait till Earl as an animal, It’ll be nice to see how the protagonist’s Dad reacts to getting a tail.
I highly doubt Earl or one of the more important owners would be changed. One he's not important enough but too important to be thrown into the mix like that. If it is an owner it would be someone who would make a better story like Bill. Besides all that hopefully the owners will eventually come into the fray and stop being so obvious to literally everything that happens around them. I still wonder where Bill thought Fox was for six months. What if Bill knew? Like Fox just told him everything and it didn't faze him. Bill does strike me as someone who simply doesn't care about that kind of stuff and rolls with everything with the least amount of concern or interest. I can see Earl and Jill sitting on the couch with their arms crossed while Grape and Peanut explain all the crazy stuff that has happened in the neighborhood over the last eleven years. Talk about an awkward conversation. Actually trying to explain that to any of the owners would be priceless to see. Imagine Max telling Jeff that the dog who was with him that day when he showed up at his door died then came back to visit him twice from Heaven. Then Jeff doesn't believe him then Rufus pops up and Jeff is the one in someone's arms.
Normal things happen all the time in fiction. They just don't get the omniscient "camera" on them because it knows what's interesting and unusual and shows it to the reader.

Someone said my fan fiction was contrived just the other day. It's fan fiction. It's supposed to be contrived because it's based on the comic.
Especially when you try to write it so it coincides with the natural progression of the story. Like how now I can mention this new thread in my story.
