Yay, more cute roos. Regardless if it’s a coincidence or not, the second line in the second panel is a lyric from Nirvana’s Smells Like Teen Spirit (music video link for refrence).

"Here we are now, entertain us." Well excuse me your majesties.

In the outback temperatures can reach 35 C (95 F) and 40 C (104) during the summer. This is dry arid heat to so they should feel right at home.

Really makes you wonder what Kari did the those zoo staff.

I suspect people shout that at roos here and now. Imagine if they were sapient and could answer back? And spray annoying patrons with the hose

You need to get it, kids,
all the entertainers need relaxation.
Forcing them to perform
may lead to chants of protestation.
The inventive can turn
and give you exactly what they want;
the rude ones as targets
for all their bright wits disagreement.
So value them highly
and never look to treat them bad
or you never know
when you’ll find one as funny as Karishad...

Bruce and Roosevelt
Don't want to go in the sun
Now the owner's mad

What exactly did Bruce do in the timeskip between panels two and three that got the zoo's owner in such a tizzy?

It would seem that Roosevelt sprayed those two patrons with the water hose.

In real life kangaroos can jump 6 feet so the fence in the background doesn't look tall enough to contain them. Then again, Housepets! mammals are anthopamorfic enough they could climb the fence or escape any number of other ways, so it's probably just there to keep disgruntled guests out as a formality. It's not like we haven't had refrence points before, but now that Bruce is standing next to a human, it's clear that kangaroos are shorter in that universe. In our world adult male kangaroos approach 6 ft tall. Is it possible that Bruce and Roosevelt aren't true Kangaroos, but are actually wallaroos?
fenrirblack wrote:"Here we are now, entertain us." Well excuse me your majesties.
It was rude of them to say it like that, but that is kinda the quid pro quo. Imagine you bought tickets to see a concert, but after you were admitted the band said they won't perform because "it's way too hot to leave the shade". Being a zoo animal is like having a (compulsory) job [with] greater supervision. The zoo provides them with food and shelter and kitschy vacations in exchange for being entertaining for visitors.
fenrirblack wrote:Really makes you wonder what Kari did the those zoo staff.
Probably stuff on the level of putting alligator clips on an alligator, but my guess is you would need to ask the patrons therapists if you want a straight answer.

Four things:
1) "You are both baby-boomers? But you look so young!"
2) "Last time someone asked me to show him my pouch, it was at gunpoint right after leaving the ATM."
3) "Ain't you a little short for a red kangaroo?"
4) Oh, no, the summer is in full swing now. That means Marion missed out on finals week AND summer school, too. Whoever is behind the transformation is going to suffer more than a..........than a.......um....ideas, give me ideas.

Heh. It's funny how many people don't realise male marsupials don't have pouches, actually. They have, er, other important bits in that place.

Silly Zealot wrote:3) "Ain't you a little short for a red kangaroo?"
Actually, they average at closer to 5 feet. It's not uncommon for them to reach 6 feet but it's not exactly the norm either. A 6 foot roo is BIG!
Silly Zealot wrote:1) "You are both baby-boomers? But you look so young!"
XD
"Boomer" is actually Aussie slang for an adult male kangaroo as is evidenced by the popular Christmas song "Six White Boomers". Look up a video of kangaroos in full flight and you can tell why they're called Boomers.
fenrirblack wrote:Here's something from wikipedia "Red kangaroos are mostly crepuscular and nocturnal, resting in the shade during the day."
This is correct. Most roos are like that actually.
Fun fact: they can't sweat so they cool themselves down by covering themselves in saliva and letting it evaporate.

Oh, it can get hotter than that. Temperatures around 45C/113F aren't uncommon in some places.

According to this paper they can pant, sweat, or spread saliva as needed.

As for the temperature, unless they're in Death Valley the humidity is probably higher than the outback. The USA is more sweaty than sunburnt.

Well, you know what they say "The Customer is always right"...a saying I always hated. Though now I'm imagining Bruce/Roosevelt (Not sure who's holding the hose) taking the hose and spraying the bystanders like he was James Bond.

Bruce is the one with the warmer brighter colors, Roosevelt has the darker more muted colors.

Roo, not everyone's going to know there's more than one kind of kangaroo. that's like expecting someone not from northern canada to know that there are four different kinds of moose, or someone overseas to know that there's an island near mexico that has racoons who look completely different.

it's just easier to identify them by color palette.

Personally I find markings help too. Roosevelt has darker fingers and a pale spot on top of his muzzle. Bruce's muzzle is uniform and he has pale fingers.

Also, the hint is in the name. Reds are redder, greys are greyer. :P

Great comic strip. :) Don't disturb the sleepy kangaroos. :D Eheh, some watering is the best solution for such problems, and a nice entertainment. ;) I agree, that's so rude (and ignorant) to ask! :P There can be a double trouble with these two roos than with that one fox. :D

I was not aware of the racoon island thing, but at this point, the thing that surprises me the most is that there are ONLY four different species of moose. Also, ever seen an albino racoon before?

I don't know what's real anymore.

The differences between the red and the grey kangaroo are really noticeable. The "greys" can be kind of brownish, but the males of the red are really red. Also they're built like the Hulk: you do NOT mess with a red kangaroo.

They're also actually different species: there's more than half a dozen subspecies of moose (except one's called an elk because crazy Europeans have to be different), but they're all Alces alces.
