a note to everyone I'm RPing with, I'll be heading home from college tomorrow, so I won't be on until late. so It may take a while before I catch up on everything I miss and respond to things. I'll be back on Saturday.

I have a couple questions.
1. If you make a neighborhood do you have to play in it? If so I can't do this because I am TERRIBLE at staying in-character.
2. What's the level on how specific we can be with our neighborhoods location. Ie.
L. 1. North America (continent)
L. 2. U.s.a. (Country)
L.3. Mideast (region of country)
L. 4. Michigan (state/territory)
L. 5. NW LP (general area of state/territory).
3. Is it possible for something to be both sci-fi AND fantasy?

I'll need some Word of Rick on what the Pre-Columbian population of the Americas consisted of, the "brief history of the world" seemed to have coyotes playing the roles of Amerinds.

Sounds cool! I'd like to participate ^_^

@Lego: I'm pretty sure can make any kind of RP genre you want, as long as the neighborhood looks detailed (and if the RP mods are okay with it).

Well so far only one of my questions have been answered, so I'm gonna assume that the answers are
1. No you don't have to play in a neighborhood you make and
2. L. 5. Region of state
So here's my neighborhood:
Toskey "geekville" bay
Tags: drama comedy scifi magic fantasy superhero some comic book style fighting
A secret town in northern Michigan, where pop-cultrue geeks and nerds alike come together to enjoy the dual scifi-fantasy nature of the town. The bay is a perfect curve with a bridge leading to a medium island on the north side. The island is home to the mansions of some of the richer nerds and geeks. Because they don't want people to find out about the town, no large corporations or store chains are in the town. Instead there is a local grocer and a family run comic shop that the residents buy all their pop-culture merchandise from. There is a Exetremly large natural hedge maze behind the town that's always shift depending on who's in it. It can lead to two places. The first is the town scifi station where it's VR simulator and dimensional portal are housed. The second leads to a pool of pure magic which seeps out into the town through underground rivers. However only good-hearted pets and other animals can reach the pool, though that hasn't stopped humans and the mean-heart from trying. Recently a incident involving the dimensional portal has caused a eldritch abomination to escape into the dark forests to the south of the town. He frequently sends monsters to the town to try and find some of the magic rivers so he can summon villains from across the multiverse to help him conquer every dimension on by one. Some of the nerds and pets use technology and magic to fight back and prevent him from finding the rivers.
Edits: the limit on special stats is moved from 42 to 46
Villain RP is limited to 5 and is on a first come first serve basis.

So is it good? Who wants to be the GM?

WeirdGamer wrote:Where in the world do you plan to set this 1600's RP exactly?
Lots of possibilities. It was a really busy century. Louis and Richelieu in France, and maybe some Three Musketeers stuff. Religious persecution and the final collapse of the effective monarchy in England. 30 years war in Germany. Galileo's trials in Italy. Spanish Inquisition. War between Sweden and Poland, they were both "Great Powers"! Transylvania was a real country! Early invasions colonization of North America. Collapse of the Ming dynasty. Japan was getting really weird and isolationist, but I don't really want to do Japan. Later on things settled down a bit in Europe and you had all kinds of scientific progress, plus they invented sparkling wine.

I plan on cribbing like crazy from the background material in the Grantville Gazette, but this would not be a "1632" crossover *, it's just a time period that is really conveniently documented.

Where do I go to get permission?

* Though an alternate history where Babylon Gardens got sent back in time to 1632 because of a weird time stuff loophole in The Game would be fun. Pete would totally do that if he thought he'd get more points that way.

Yea that's what I did with my neighborhood. Though i didn't get a response so I just assumed some of the answers and posted my neighborhood 3 posts ago. Seriously guys is my neighborhood good or not? I don't want to play in it I just want to watch other people play in it so I can feel good knowing somebody enjoys something I made.

I think it's actually preferred that a neighborhood's creator plays in the neighborhood, but I'm not sure how strict a requirement it is.

also, no response does not mean a yes. just cause the mod hasn't gotten a chance to respond doesn't mean you can start a neighborhood. luckily, you didn't actually go ahead and start a thread for it, so you're not breaking any rules

I'd like to see what people say about the kind of scenario they'd like to see before I get started. Europe or maybe North America only. Refugees, musketeers, mousketeers, peasants, ferals, explorers, freedom fighters, ...

I know. Most of the details aren't final. I'm perfectly willing to change stuff if the mods ask for it. Though I don't think I will do this if I have to play in it. I'm not a role playing kinda of guy. I kinda of selfish in that everything has to be perfect if I'm playing anything. I just want somebody to enjoy something I made.

Legotron123 wrote:1. If you make a neighborhood do you have to play in it? If so I can't do this because I am TERRIBLE at staying in-character.
YES. We don't want people making neighborhoods they aren't actually going to play in.
2. What's the level on how specific we can be with our neighborhoods location. Ie.
I think you can get it down to the state level, but most of them stick to a region of the country they're in, like the Midwestern US for Brookshire Meadows, which may be in Missouri.
3. Is it possible for something to be both sci-fi AND fantasy?
Yeah, I mean, you can have a neighborhood with characters who make scifi contraptions but also encounter magical stuff.

If I'm going to be running my own RP I can't handle being a mod as well. I wasn't sure I'd even have the time to do any RPing, and I didn't think about going further than that until I was able to keep up with that.

Rockstar - how do you guys feel about an RP set in the 17th century. I could call it "17th century fox". :)

1600s. North America is barely settled, England is just starting to get involved (Jamestown, 1607). From my previous message:

Religious persecution and the final collapse of the effective monarchy in England. 30 years war in Germany. Galileo's trials in Italy. Spanish Inquisition. Keep in mind that this RP is about the animals living among the humans at this time. Could have a "mouse world" scaled scenario set among the rats on a pirate ship? That would be really hard to GM.

Hmmm. Most of the players would be rats, but some of the pirates could have pets (parrot, of course, and maybe monkeys), and there could be ship cats (who would be bad guys for the rats), maybe some seagulls working with them.

Heroically rescuing rats from sinking ships, joining boarding parties, capturing beautiful rat princesses, ...

Well other than those select animals other animals were in trade vessals as well. Such as cats, dogs, foxes and other small wild animals...so you could set a good early setting with pirates and civilizations of many places youll just need it set mostly to animal perspective. Maybe even ships run by animals made by animals and such.
