A lot has happened since then. For one, some thing called CyberDragon showed up one day and latched onto the forum like a face hugger. Nobody can seem to get rid of it.

Roo is having computer problems, and is a major player in most of the ones i'm in.

Can't speak to any of the others though.

Roo is a major player in everything except for the Beacon. Things are going to slow down while his computer is kaput.

Also the Beacon has always been relatively high in activity since I started it.

Hey, does anyone remember how to make an RP? I wanna make a HP style rp set in the fallout universe. The charecters would be pets and their owners, but situations would mirror fallout and it would be a bit more adult in it's themes.

Hello. This is vault 58, brodcasting from

Code: Select all

Garbled Code sending Location Markers
and we are looking for new members.
Due to a run-in with raiders, our population was slashed, but we intend to continue the purpose of our Vault. Humans who want to enter the vault must be accompanied by a civilized pet. Those who are not will be shot on sight. Message Repeats.
This has been sent out all across new-jersey and Pennsylvania and has been picked up by your radio. Vaults are some of the most valuable resources in the wasteland, and everyone wants a peice of one. But this one is different. The slightly odd lilt to the messenger's voice seems almost... inhuman.

And that demand, it seems like a joke at first. But rumors quickly spread of known violence to any humans not accompanied by an animal. And you have begun wounder if you and your master should go and join the ranks.

---

Alright, so I got approval to ask this of ya'll, yay or nay on a Fallout based HPU style adventure. Vault 58 will not be HPU, for both of the obvious reasons: it's apocalyptic, incompatible with the rest of them. And of course, other HPU games aren't accepted.

Anyway, Vault 58 will be slightly more pg-13 than usual. The concept is that you can have a couple of charecters. The Humans aren't important, obviously, but they should be believable. Several animals may be from the vault of course, but they will have a hierarchy I will post when I have an OOC for it... and when I actually create the hierarchy.

Sooooo... can I get a few votes yay? I think I need something like 4 or 6 for a full size one with all the trills.

So it’s basically a crossover between Fallout and Housepets? Awesome. Don’t plan on joining it myself, but I’d definitely give it a plus if the mods are okay with it.

Depends. You can do it as a small RP which means you can have a maximum of 4 players in it. Or you can wait until you get more interest and have it as a big RP in which case you need a minimum of 4 players but you can have as many players as you want.

XD Nice, Argent!

Bad news on the laptop front, I'm afraid. It sounds like a part of the motherboard is broken. Which means I need a new laptop since replacing the motherboard would cost as much as a new computer anyway. I wish they'd told me that before making me pay $600 to replace the hard drive.

$600? I can get a half decent laptop SSD and a DIY kit for $200, and it's a 10 min install if done right with another 20-30 to transfer files. So an hour's labor costs tops. that should be 250-300 at most. not 600. you're paying more than double what i would consider a reasonable rate...

(Also $CDN to $AUD is 1:1.03 so currency doesn't explain it)

My computer was $2k...

Though in its and my defense, it's a gamer's laptop that's built like a tank, has been running strong for 5 years despite relatively poor treatment, has a super-powerful cooling system, and it came with industrial strength virus protection.

What do you need it for? If it's just the internet and some light programming, you only need a cheap one. If you're gaming or program intensive, you'll need to go higher. Also be aware of the ones that say they have 32gb storage. It sounds a lot. But that's INCLUDING the Operating system and all the drivers. you could well end up with 5gb of memory or less on the computer and you may have to buy cloud storage for the rest. Older Windows 10, 8.1 and 7's all have bigger hard drives built in.

if you're on a budget, Look for a model thats a year or two out of date, it's specs wont be ideal but will still be reasonable compared to it's current version, and it'll cost you half as much. also, laptops should NOT be used for things that require a lot of rendering and physics calculation, (3d modeling programs, higher end AAA games) as they're often too small to house dedicated supplemental computation hardware or adequate cooling systems. The ones that aren't cost $2-4k, for hardware that would have been $1-2k had you just ordered desktop parts and put it together yourself, because miniaturization without loss of function is expensive.
