I still went ahead and changed it but why would he think others would see tears of joy if he said all that out loud.LovingCorgi wrote:"Thanks everyone." Koa said with a smile. Finally I don't have to deal with Fred anymore. I can't help but think that the events back in Hawaii was the best thing to happen to me. Koa's eyes began to tear at the thought of that dreadful time, he also struggled to keep his smile. He thought to himself that the tears would be seen as tears of joy. Maybe now I can get all these shards of glass out of my body.

I don't think they would but it can be very difficult to ascertain the meaning or intention behind words when they're just text and not actually spoken so it's important to be as clear as possible when we write things here. It's part of the reason we're not allowed to use text speak and that type of thing too.

Tsunado? That sounds like a nasty combination of natural disasters!
No, LovingCorgi did edit the post since I first saw it. It does happen though - I've done it myself.

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
No problem.
The pets agreed to go and explore the garage since it's full of old stuff including the previous owner of the house's gear which was moved there after he died. John just adopted Koa, Koa started crying about it because he was so happy, everyone notices the tears when he rejoins them and asks what happened. He tells them that hes been adopted. Flynn, seeing that Koa's going to cry again, changes the subject of conversation to spare Koa. Ryyn reaches up and switches on the circuit breaker so the lights can be turned on in the garage. Flynn leads everyone into the garage and gets them all to start pushing on the door to open it.
Meanwhile, there's something moving about upstairs in the loft in the barn at the clinic. Nadia is teasing the horses and when they tease back she nearly explodes. Luckily Doc came along to diffuse the situation.
I think that's about it...

Okay guys, I gotta say two things here
1) Pleeeeeeease forgive my absences and late posting and inability to effectively monitor anything! My dead computer is still dead, but it may be reincarnated soon.
2) Can I please have a list of things that need to be addressed? Like stuff that needs to be added to the OP or editing or whatever. Please? It'll be a lot easier to do them if I have a list, even if I am worrying from an iPhone.
You guys are the best~

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
This garage could be a real treasure trove. Remember everything in there will be at a barest minimum of 20 years old. There could be anything in there from old comics to crockery/cutlery, homewares, vintage appliances, documents, jewellery, records, an 80's style desktop computer, old clothes, tools, gardening equipment, photographs, paintings, ornaments, furniture, random collections - anything. Use your imagination and have fun exploring but remember, 30 years old or more.
Especially considering there's stuff from the 30's.
The big shape under the canvas tarpaulin which takes up a chunk of floorspace is a classic car, if you didn't realise. I haven't decided what type yet though. Any suggestions? I think it should be a little bit fany to match the rest of the house.

Especially given that it's a 2-storey garage.
It's a bit sad though, isn't it, that the first thing I thought of when I saw the word fascia was "connective tissue" which would make a crackling, tearing sound when pulled free and which would make that scene a LOT more painful and less family friendly. I've been doing too much anatomy study!

Pine martens aren't ferrets, they haven't been bred for rabbit-hunter's convenience to sleep 20 hours a day.

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
I'm thinking a car like the 1921 Cadillac Suburban would be a nice find in the garage. Do you guys reckon a gangster/smuggler would have been able to afford the $5000 price tag back in the day?

If anyone (maybe a cat could manage it) goes up in the attic, they'll find a pine marten curled up comfortably in a half-empty box of teddy bears that smell vaguely of squirrel. Oh, and don't go into the southwest corner of the crawl space. Just... don't.

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
Perhaps I should call out the hazmat squad instead?
Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
Mid-70s personal computers typically didn't have a monitor, or even a serial port. Instead, you had a hex or octal keypad and a row of 7-segment LCDs. This may have been software controlled from a PROM or wired directly into the bus. To start with you would typically enter a small boot program with it to load your programs from paper tape. You often had a prom burner (sometimes built directly into the case) so you could save more complex boot proms that could support something like a floppy drive. The first video cards didn't support text, so you usually had a separate terminal (which may have been a printer - at one point I had an actual daisy-wheel typewriter modified to work as a terminal) and a serial port card. The resolution of graphics was low, 128x128 wasn't unusual, and slow. The most common graphics programs were display hacks like "dazzler"... and that was pretty cool.
I don't think even Cinnamon could do much with one, but it would sure be entertaining watching them try. Hope there's a manual!

Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
Come to think of it, were computers even small enough to be moved by that stage? Perhaps we should bump it up to a Xerox Alto (from 1973 and the first computer to use a mouse and the desktop metaphor as its GUI) or a Macintosh 128K (the original Macintosh computer first introduced in 1984 by Steve Jobs, it came equipped with keyboard and mouse).
Re: PF:Richmond Acres OOC
An Alto was the size of a dorm fridge.
Something from the mid '70s would have been more like this:
That would be an awesome find. There's an additional case on the left you can only see the corner of, followed by an IMSAI with a full binary front panel, two joysticks, a monitor running dazzler (!), and an ADM3a terminal. You can tell it's a 3a and not just an ADM3 because the cursor is a square block and not just an underline.
