Oh I understand. But it still came out very nice though.

Got two today!
...Took me a while to realize that I've been giving everyone the "Twisted Limits" treatment.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
It'd be interesting to see a Bruno-Lana swap, both ways.

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Nice job, D-Rock.

...huh, that would be an interesting one. Let me dig through the archives to see if I can find good images. Thanks!Buster wrote:It'd be interesting to see a Bruno-Lana swap, both ways.
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Yep, I decided to make alterations to the coat to sort of match the color palette I was using. And here's the next part about that;
I couldn't decide if I wanted to alter Bruno's coat or leave it as is, so have both variants. Also, Lana hardly makes appearances. Heck, Keene is the only ferret with significant screen time. As for Bruno, well, only having three strips severely limited my choices. Ended up altering the second panel of her first appearance, which came out surprisingly good. I actually went in pixel-by-pixel to get it to look as good as I could.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
did you try to leave the collarbone in in the last one and just couldn't while removing the fur pattern?
If not, it might look better with the collarbone
but still, all of these look great I especially like cat King

...CARP!
Didn't realize somehow that I painted over that, too.
I got to start writing down ideas, or else I'll lose Civilization's suggestions.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
You are doing an amazing job D-Rock, keep it up, even with that 'mistake?' I still think that's awesome!
Ah, you remembered, yay... Though those where just random things to try and get others to think and come up with better ideas... I would love to see my suggestions come to be though, heh, look forward to seeing what you come out with. Very impressive, can't praise all this artistic stuff enough!D-Rock wrote:I got to start writing down ideas, or else I'll lose Civilization's suggestions.
Currently traveling across the United States. Still up for any conversations though.
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Fixed Bruno-Lana. Unfortunately that's all I have right now.
Still, thanks, everyone!

you know, ferret bruno kinda makes me think of a newfoundland pine marten with really really dark colors...

Kind of does. man, those things look adorable.
Let's see what other unintentional lookalikes I make.

ok, that's an intercomic swap, but I really had to do it because of today's strip

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Even though I don't know what that is, it looks really adorable!
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
The way it yells "Kitty" reminds me of Boo from Monsters Inc. That's adorable! Also, never read that comic.
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Oh, right, little explanation for the people who doesn't know Freefall
Location: planet Jean (when you have to do all those terraforming paperworks you LOVE a short planet's name...)
Population: 40,000 humans, 450,000,000 robots, 1 squid-like alien (Sam), 1 Bowman's wolf (Florence)
What you see here happens every time a locally built robot meets Florence for the first time (since strip #8, 1996)

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Our friend Valerio asked for a color version of this sketch...
I really hope that Rick will soon make his color print version of it

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
That really does look very nice! And look at how much Bailey is showing!
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Great job, renato!
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
I'll always have reservations, but dang, that is one adorable scene!
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Lovely draw, couple and everything. Bailey's ice cream must be of cherry taste. Very nice coloring work, Renato.

I'm surprised there isn't a pickle on it unless it is inside the ice cream itself.

The icecream was put around the pickle. The pickle is in the center.

Splendid how Rick already is at drawing Bailey in her later stages.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
I just realized something... barring an extremely rare genetic anomaly, male cats can't have a third solid color in their coat.
Which means merging king and grape didn't just change king's species... No wonder she looks so confused.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
... Wow.
Never would have thought of that. Rare anomaly? You mean the incredibly rare male calico cats? I've read that the gene for that coat to appear is on the X chromosome, so either a massive change, or just happened to get an extra X.
...Or Twisted Limits.

Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Three distinct colors can only occur in a normal female, or in a male with an XXY chromosome configuration (a form of Trisomy), due to said colors being encoded into the x chromosomes.
In a normal male you'd get a tabby, or one of the 2-toned patterns. never 3.
So, yeah, Grape-King would most likely be a girl.

Huh. Biology is always pretty interesting.
Though now I'm feeling I should change my icon to prevent gender confusion for myself.
...eh, I still like how this turned out, I'll keep it for now.

Biology has always confused me. x.x I'm just glad I got it out of the way for my requirements.
Re: Photoshopping Housepets!
Two more. Also, in the six years that the ferrets have been around, Simon has only appeared seven times. Dang, wonder how little screentime the others have. Keene seems to be the more important one.
