I seemed to get a lot of coal digging in the public mine. You might want to try there.

I need torches so I can see where I'm digging though and for that I need coal. Has anybody found a good place to get that yet?

Not sure if the place I'm thinking of is really on a mountain. It has a sign out the front saying "Construction Site".

So, i left some bread in the mailbox out infront of my house if anybody needs it.
and i didn't find any sheep today, so I started on the library instead.
Also there's pumpkin seeds in there if anyone wants to start a patch.

Beds only work if everyone currently online is in bed at the same time.

Beds work for setting the respawn point even if you just lay down for a moment.

For skipping the night, everyone in the same world needs to be in bed at the same time. People who aren't near a bed could quickly log out to skip the night while all others are in bed. People in the Nether for example aren't counting as they are in another world.

A storm here took out my Internet connection for a bit, so sorry if anyone got kicked off the server. No data should be lost.
Also, I tinkered with the server a little, and it should (theoretically) be faster now. If anyone is still having problems, let me know.

please do not kill the sheep I penned up in town. it took forever to find a non-horse somewhere near spawn. same for any cows or chickens I add to the pen later, least not until there are at least three, so a new one can be bred from the other two after it's dead.

also half of the beds in the guest house are in. the downstairs is open to visitors now.

By the way, what's the seed? i want to try something.

without access to the server files i can't map the actual buildings, so i've put stars on the map where people seem to be building/digging.
except the red one. the red one is spawn.

positions may not be entirely accurate as i'm guessing based on what the places looked like.

also, the best place I've found to get cows and sheep so far is the forest on the north east side of the hills the castle is built into.

though leading them back to the pen in town is difficult.

And, well, I may have gone a smidge overboard.

I really need to start exploring areas that aren't near the spawn. That is a big area unexplored.

Using this map, I went on a long journey to obtain farming goods. I found the village near the northern desert and obtained A LOT of potatoes and carrots. I then went into the nether, found a stronghold and obtained a bunch of nether wart and sole sand. I also found a bunch of gold and horse armor but that's not very important. The point is, we now have a giant farm behind my house that has around 100+ carrots and potatoes (each) and around 50+ nether wart. :D

Also I'd like to point out that according to our map we have 5 underwater temples (four are southwest in a large square  ), 1 plains village, 1 desert village, 1 snow village(?), and at least 3 canyons.
There's also a weird, empty rectangular zone in a forest northeast of our town that I'd like to investigate at some point. The map says nothing is there but it looks to perfect to be randomly generated.

What's the server's bandwidth limit? Maybe that's where the bottleneck is occurring?
CHAOKOCartoons wrote:There's also a weird, empty rectangular zone in a forest northeast of our town that I'd like to investigate at some point. The map says nothing is there but it looks to perfect to be randomly generated.
That's probably just a chunk that didn't populate properly when I was exploring. Like the gaps in the cove or the grassy strips in the snow to the east. No guarantee it'll be the same on the server.

I started to actually build a house above the ground, and I planted a lot of sugar cane by where I am. I need to finish building my house at some point, but I think I may start to explore the area more first.

Okay, I have some good news, and I have some "why have you forsaken us" news.
The good news is, The farm has been producing hundreds of potatoes and carrots, so I put 20 baked potatoes in all the buildings (I put 45 in the snow one so they last long enough that we build a rail car to get there because I never want to walk/climb up there again  ). I somehow forgot the carrots but I mean... there's a whole farm of them just go pick them... it's actually because I forgot to put them in the box  . There are also street lamps along the roads now, for style!

And now for the "why have you forsaken us" news:
So I was smelting some clay to make a farm supply building when I realized we need more furnaces, so I began to build a charcoal factory and put some furnaces in it to start out. I then cut down some trees and re-planted them so we would get more trees, but we needed charcoal to make the charcoal so I kept chopping trees then planting the saplings until I had a bunch of charcoal. That also meant the amount of trees multiplied each time... sooooo... a large portion of our open plains has turned into a forest. :?
So if you ever think you need wood or charcoal...
Just remember this...
No you don't.

Also that mine looks amazing. I just went in there for the first time out of curiosity and DANG! :D

I used world edit for the center of the ship, but I think I can figure out how to rebuild it into the server :3
