The name is a bit of a mindscrew; cardiod and supercardiod are 2 completely different mic types. Supercardioid are good for micing a large insrument or a moving speaker (as in person who is speaking). Condensers are best for in-studio recording, tho. And whatever you use, it's best to kill all background noise (fans, indoor heating, squeaky chairs, feedback, etc.),but condensers pick up less of that than other mics.AuraSight wrote:How is supercardiod different than a regular cardiod mic? Aren't cardiod mics usually preferable for voice recording? Or have I been lied to?

Alrighty! Just learned about this, and decided to submit my auditions for Fox, Tiger, Mr. Sandwich, and Peanut. I would be interested in Sargent Ralph if someone added him to the castingcall. Please? 0_0
Feel free to call me Czu for short. The games on this forum are pretty neat.

I'm sure that Ralph will end up coming up soon, so you just need to wait.

I call dibs on Bruce and Roosevelt when their auditions come up!
My Australian accent is pretty convincing, if I do say so myself.

Also, how are we gonna do this? Will we just send in recordings of our voices alone? Or are we going to Skype and act while someone records Skype?

@Czukay you record your voice yourself while reading the 2/3 Sentences mentioned on CastingCallClub
The Link for the Page you will then upload your auditions to is the following

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Ah k sorry misread it then.
Well i guess you will send your lines in and someone will create a full show then with the lines from each of us.
Depends if we have simple lines after each other or if there are also things like group discussions or mumblings where you had to create one audiotrack out of more lines.

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
So, me again. Turns out I wasn't able to get a mic where I thought I could borrow one. So, what's a cheap but effective recording microphone? And let me know what everyone means by "cheap"
And yes, I realize this is likely asking for a lot.

Rock Band was all I got. I just used headsets my dad had lying around before I bought my current one for $40.D-Rock wrote:So, me again. Blue USB Condensers are $150 on Musician's Friend.
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
usually i just go to the nearest music store. those places always have quality recording equipment...and even if they dont, you can get a good suggestion from a professional on what to buy and what not to buy

Both Amazon and Blue Microphones have good reviews on it. This a good direction?

Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
that's what I use. it's one of the better USB mics
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
Alright, thanks. I'll be getting that as soon as I can.
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
I think I'll get it as well. I've been using my built-in mic for things, but I think an actual one would be better.

I'm not sure if I can afford a 40-50 dollar microphone right now, but I definitely want to get a real mic, as I am totally digging this project and hope to contribute something of quality!
Does anyone know of any quality microphones in the 20-30 dollar range?

Unfortunately, $40 is pretty much the lower limit. The mic I ordered is over $200.AuraSight wrote:I'm not sure if I can afford a 40-50 dollar microphone right now, but I definitely want to get a real mic, as I am totally digging this project and hope to contribute something of quality!

Pretty much. Blue's a pretty good brand. Even their cheaper models are decent. And $40 is definitely cheap, considering.AuraSight wrote:Hmmmm, okay. Well then now you have to wait until his audition comes up then.
Re: Housepets! webshow, anyone?
I added my audition for Peanut. I might had a slight sore throat during recording, so I hope it doesn't show
If it does, please let me know, and I'll try to record it again when my throat is all good.
