Or does he even know? I would assume that the cat-lover incident would at least make him suspicious. Or do I have him pegged the wrong way and he's so confident in their relationship that he doesn't care?
I feel like the comic is the perfect place to answer this question! More love triangles! ...... Or rectangles!
I have a feeling this answer will have to wait until Fido and Sabrina relationship gets out

I'm curious as to who Jelly is. :P

But, seriously, I get the feeling that Max has no problem with it, since he probably doesn't know in the first place, and since only one character stikes me as being a jealous type, and it isn't any of those three.

Hrm...I guess he really wouldn't have any way of knowing, would he? My bad for the silly question. Just to clarify though, I don't think of him so much as the jealous type, but I'm pretty sure he'd treat Peanut differently if he did know. Nothing dramatic, I don't think, but his opinion would be different.

But on to the next question! Are there any famous pets? We have animals on the police force and on t.v like in real life, but are there animals who have published books or have their own t.v talk shows?

There are conflicting examples in the comic of just how "free" pets are. Rick has said in the past that wild animals who are not kept as pets have no legal protection, and Joel claimed while being arrested that animals who break the law are not read their rights, which suggests that they may not actually have any. On the other hand, the Milton ferrets are able to live both independently and influentially, although this seems to be primarily because they are super-rich; things might work out differently for a pet in a lower income bracket.

Then there's the matter of Grape's love letters...

Is the additional fur on Peanut a winter coat...or a character redesign.

Notice the difference in the fur on the ears in this progression:
https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/09/ ... d-like-me/

and it seems to be getting a little longer with fur sticking off of it in panel 2 here:
https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/11/ ... like-glue/

and even more so, here:
https://www.housepetscomic.com/2010/11/ ... ing-power/

Never mind...of course it is a winter coat. -_-;

It could just be Rick not being 100% consistent in drawing :P

Blasphemy! >_<
Seriously though...it started around November when the weather would start getting cold...and I doubt Rick would make that kind of mistake. -_-

I don't know about the middle panel, but the other two could just be his fur standing up because he's upset. That does happen to dogs and cats, you know. Come to think of it, the middle could be his fur being disheveled from his search for the bone.

Quick question. Do pets have litters or is it just one at a time like humans? I have yet to see two pets from the same litter. The only blood siblings are Bino, Fido, and Joey, but they are all different ages...

In the Housepets universe, it does seem like it's only one per litter...

They're actually litter-mates.

How is that right? Joey is still kind of puppish. They don't look like they are anywhere near the same age...

Per the "Cast" page, Joey "Was the runt of his litter, and is usually ignored for the most part."

That is all the answer I need. Thanks for the clarification, Diss. But I still don't think that Fido, Bino, and Joey are litter mates.

I must agree with copper. Especially that in the cast page is mentioned that Fido is the older brother of Bino.

Even if you're born five seconds before another, you're still the older sibling.

Isn't that kind of like saying you have an older twin brother? I don't think people usually mention a difference in age unless it's a more notable difference. Although, if they were from different litters, we probably would have seen more of their brothers/sisters by now.

To be fair, they ARE dogs. :P

I don't think that was an arc, I'm pretty sure that was an illustration from Valerio's fan fic found here (scroll down a bit)
it was fan art for the fan fic, so the continuation is text only.

i have a question for rick
im from indonesia and a BIG fan of housepets
when you first made this webcomic strip what do you intend to do with it?
do you want it to be known internationally(like garfield, felix the cat, etc) or just another webcomic that was only known in a limited area or fanbase
im just really sad because im the only one in indonesia who knew and read housepets and also other webcomics(like better days, two kinds, original life, etc)
your idea of housepets is a really great idea and it could be very BIG internatioanally
also im sorry if my english is bad and if your confused reading the question please tell me i will try to fix it
thank you!

I believe that conversation would best be continued via private message.

As far as Rick's initial aspirations for the comic, only he knows for sure, but I believe it would be safe to assume he was hoping for the comic to be as successful and popular as possible.

Can anyone tell me Does fiddler and keys have any owners or are they stray cats? And are they a couple or brothers and sisters?

I think Fiddler and Keys have owners, but I'm not entirely sure.
But I do remember that on the cast page it says they are in a strained relationship, so they aren't related and are a couple.
Here is what the cast page says about them:
Cast Page wrote:One is a guy and one is a girl and they’re in a rather strained relationship, the kind that musicians tend to have.

They have owners, their tags are prove of that.

I have two questions:

1- How long Spo will going to stay with Fido? Because if I remember correctly, he was going to stay with him temporally, until Fido found him a better place to live. This was the agreement he had with Sabrina, because she always asking him to protect little animals she found wounded or sick. Don't misunderstand me, I love Spo, it just I was wondering this because they live together for almost four years and he haven't been capable to find a better place. Of course that doesn't mean that they can't be friends and spend time together, but he still living with him. (How is possible that Fido's father has not discovered this yet?)

2- How long pets remain as kids (puppies/kittens etc) in housepets universe? I wondered this when I realize that Miles' cubs haven't grown at all in nearly four years. Since the time in HP universe is parallel to ours, this issue make it difficult to calculate the age of other pets, because if the cubs have 4/5 years and they still as kids, then how old are Peanut or Grape? Fifteen? and others more mature like Miles? twenty/twenty-five? and Rufus? thirty? since the average life of pets here is between 35/40, this means that their differents periods of life some are too short (like adolescence and adulthood) and others are too long (like childhood and old age). I think 10 years for each age is a bad proportion when it supposed to be more long the young and middle ages.

I know, I know. My questions maybe are too complicated, so I guess what you all going to respond is: 'this is a comic of funny and silly animals with things that have no logic, like magic and gods'

Spo is probably just going to stay on Fido's head until Rick decides to make an arc about him getting a better place to live. Which very easily might be never.

To my knowledge there is no aging in Housepets!

Then someone buys Rick's comic and it moves onto another 95 years, with alternate universes everywhere, videogames, movies and shipping galores!

I'm strongly convinced now there won't be aging in the comic. Ages stay the same and therefore everyone keeps their look with the possible occassion of reflecting back to their kitten/pup years. The Pets are in my opinion in the age that seems like they are most likely in adulthood, but don't suffer too much from age discrepancy.

copper wrote:Housepets! is like the Simpsons, they all drank from the Fountain of Youth and shall never age! :ugeek:
The simpsons used to age but along with character development they rolled that concept into a ball and threw it in the trash a long time ago. I haven't been keeping up to date but i'm sure most of the cast have had a birthday. Bart supposedly passed 4th grade but has stayed in the same class forever since. And i recall Marge referring to Homer's 300 point bowling phenomenon as something that happened "A year and a half ago"

As for the topic of aging I agree with most you. If we do see them age it'll be by infinitesimal amounts, and we'll possibly see character redesign like in the past, but they will probably go through significant life decisions like having children and dealing with death. Tri-weekly strips don't develop the same way as manga's.

Ok, my question is this

In the housepet's universe would anyone describe Squirrels, Foxes or Pigeons as Vermin. I think they should get rid of that word altogether, it's such an ugly, uneccessary word to me
