Transcribing

If you want to do some transcribing, you can go to this link:
http://www.ohnorobot.com/helpout.pl?comic=1714

And it will give you random comics that need transcribing!

At the moment, I prefer to post translations on the forum, because I sometimes find a better translation and that's easier to edit the file.

And I do not see the translated versions on the comic website. They are not there yet? :)

No these are transcriptions! Text versions of the comics. Once I have enough I'll put the Oh No Robot search bar on the site.

Say, Rick, may I ask why you need these transcriptions? I mean, why would you need a text-only version of your comics, in the same language that you write them on?

So the text is searchable. I mean, that's the entire point of having a text version *giggles*

Everything up to the beginning of the Cat Tail arc is done; I'd be doing more, but I'm recovering from a pretty severe illness and should technically be lying down

Note for people doing transcriptions:

You do not have to make a note of every one of the characters' emotions if the words convey them! I have kept leaving the transcriptions open for improvement though I dunno how much I should do that since everyone will want to start at the beginning

Oh, cool.

So basically it's a translation of the comic into a shakespearian style of writing. *likes Shakespear*

I'm interested in doing one this weekend if that's the case if i can manage the time. <_< >_>

You know what, now I don't think I should do any at the moment, after that comment, I'm having a hard time not imagining peanut talking like Shakespeare :P.

It is hilarious though XD.

One of the benefits of doing this is that you get to go back and re-read all the old strips from early in Housepets!'s run. I'd forgotten how funny some of these were.

Actually, I was referring to the farm arc, because we all know that one was secretly for Sinder anyway.
Note that I edited the quote to include it anyway which was kind of the point to the post.

I do the same thing. It's quite normal, actually. It's good to refresh you mind every now and again, and it can help in the discussions as well.

I will lend a hand to the transcriptions. Since I can't draw and I don't know any other languages, I might as well do this.

Bumping this back to the top, because I decided to get back to approving a bunch of transcriptions.

Or not. Guys, if something is bold in the comic, it is much better to write it out in ALL CAPS then **star quotes**. I am talking about one person in particular, but still, I can't fix all of them.

Also, putting quotation marks around dialogue is a no-no unless it's actually in the speech bubble. It's script format. That means everything following the speaker's name and a colon is understood to be dialogue.

...It can't be too hard to get an OCR program to read all the strips and instantly generate a text version of it. :P Especially considering the fact that all the strips have the same font.

If I have not mistaken, I think it is making text versions of the strip.

Meaning typing up the action and dialogue rather than seeing any images.

DOUBLE POST!!! :P

So, a few questions:
A) I always put the title at the top like so {{Title}}
Yes or No? (Do you want this)

B) I just saw someone who added the alt text like so {{Alt Text}}
Yes or No?

Or does it really not matter?
