You know how the saying goes: "The last comic is always the best one."

Maybe 'cause you just don't really like guest comics?

I've actually never accidentally stopped reading Housepets yet. (It's possible it will happen but honestly I don't think it will!) I've been caught up for at least 6 months now, but I'm always eagerly waiting a new update. ^^

I have done this with other webcomics, though. I'll be all like "OH YEAH, THAT'S A THING!" Hehe. Clearly this is my favoritest comic ever.

If you mean spending pretty much 2 days curled up with a massive bowl of popcorn and drinking beer reading a rather enjoyable comic?... HELLS YES IT WAS.

I accidentally stopped for about a year and when I came back it was the exact arc picking up from the plot hook of where I stopped. So I still have amazing timing.

Ever since I started in early January, the longest I've forgotten to read a new strip is one day. Every upload is a weekly highlight :)

Never stopped to read the comic since my discover of it, in August 2013. ;)

As I don't think a week break can be considered, a few times, mainly over summer. My interest jumps, as I did search for the comic that was supposed to be next before the site came back up.

I try not to miss it, its basically the only webcomic I really enjoy reading/looking at greatly thats basically prompt in its new pages. Most of the others I view are quite unreliable in their timing of updates.

There's once or twice where travel has made me have to miss a few but usually its no more than a weeks worth of updates.

Nope I have never stopped reading the comic at all either by accident or on purpose. Its like I'm addicted. Even when I am on vacation I make sure to read the comic which is the only part of my routine that I do. :)

Of course, it probably helps that I have the comic pinned to my "Top Sites" screen on Safari.

It always amuses me that Apple's browser is called Safari, 'cause if you found an apple on safari you'd avoid it like it's the plague. Which it probably actually is.
(And if you found anything that could be metaphored as a "safari" on your apple, you wouldn't be in much hurry to eat that either)
So it really makes it seem like Apple doesn't want people to eat their laptops and what was I talking about again?

Nope.
That said, there have been some arcs I've enjoyed less than others (including a couple I found just INTERMINABLE!). Some themes get a little repetitive and certain characters tiresome at times. But if you are in one of those situations where you can't get into the story, you can savor Rick's wonderful art. And then, wait a couple of days and - WOW! - another strip, another joke, and more great art.

Do people who stop reading the strip know this thread exists? I so hate starting Thursdays with a conundrum.
Drums give me headaches sometimes, too.

I'm sure that they do now since it is back on the first page.

To add a contributing post to this topic, I haven't ever found an arc that I disliked so much that I skipped it. I was annoyed when Rick made Kevin and Sasha OTP but I just shifted my focus to Fox instead who took it a lot worse than I did.

I'll add to this thread. Like with most things, my interest waxes and wanes. I'll usually quit following for months at a time as my interest drifts, but I come back.

Yeah, I just tell myself it's Rick's world and I should try to be a good guest. Sometimes, though, I don't succeed very well. ;)

I'm sure you took it better than Fox finding out that Sasha and Kevin were not going to break up anytime soon (and better than me. )

I started reading in September 2020, (from Start to the most recent) then stopped on that hiatus. I think i only read pages when i was feeling really down, until December 2023 and i felt like i missed out so badly that i reread from Temple Crashers 2 to the most recent page.

Good news about the hiatus is that now anybody that stopped can play catch-up with the comic! I do look forward to the comic resuming though I am losing hope as its been 2 months into the New Year already.

I review the forum pretty much daily and try to keep up on birthdays. I have several little routines to structure my day, something I need as a retired geezer without a job-like commitment. I haven't gone over to Discord or Twi-ttarr (now X for now) simply because I don't want to get too deep into the internet world.

I admit, by the end, Housepets! was starting to lose some of its charm for me. I've never been a fan of Marvel-ish stuff or "the Dome" sort of extraterrestrial meddling drama, which was basically where the last saga seemed fixated. Most of the newer characters I found unappealing and some old friends were becoming tiresome, overwrought, and their story lines repetitive and turgid. So, overall, taking a long hiatus struck me as a good idea for Rick who seemed to be losing interest in the whole Houspets universe and drained from the demands of producing strips every week.

A& H Club is also apparently in slumber as well, for what that's worth, and I don't know how his other projects are going.

But ... I never stopped reading Housepets! and look forward to its return.

You saying that A&H, Rick's other work, is also on hiatus sort of makes me feel like Rick might be losing interest in comics in general since I thought he really liked that one more than Housepets! In any case, I am pretty sure A&H will come back before Housepets! does.

Good for that, I managed to convince a long term friend to give it read, she asked me where to start, and I said at the start, so she's going to need some time to catch up. As for hoping for a return, well, I'm always going to stay optimistic, though, I think for it's run, Housepets! could end for a while without disappointing people too much for too long, especially once more people become aware of Rick's other comics.

Granted I discovered it in 2014 so it was only running for 5 years.
