How to submit fan comics?

So Rick has had a number of fan comic events and I'd love to participate, so I want to be ready for the next one. I found out about the last one just a few days before they started appearing; is that generally how it goes? Or do we find out about them sooner on the forums somewhere? And are there any particular rules or a formal process to submit them, or is it pretty much just email it to Rick and if he likes it, he'll post it?

This would be a wonderful topic for the feedback and announcements forum.

The amount of notice varies, but there will always be an announcement thread (like this one). There may also be announcements via the main site or the @HousepetsComic Twitter account. Based on circumstance, the e-mail address to which you submit entries may change, so pay attention to the announcements.

Thanks for the info! People must have worked really fast last time; I don't think I could get one done so quickly. I guess I could always prepare one ahead of time and then just wait for a fan comic event.
