I commonly see pickles and ice cream associated with pregnancy cravings, so not really new. Cindy is pregnant at this time, too.

Yes it was except that Cindy actually is pregnant so I don't see how it can be an homage if it was a joke for one comic and actually a craving for another comic.

If you assume that pickles in ice cream is Bailey's thing, then it is an homage. If you assume that pickles in ice cream is a standard pregnancy trope, then it is not an homage.
