Favorite Panel

I have been wondering if anyone else has a favorite single image from the comic, and if so, what is it?

Personally, i keep coming back to this comic:

https://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/20 ... 7/descent/

Specifically, the image of Peanut getting though the maze. There is something about the unmitigated joy on his face that makes me feel happy every-time I see it. There is something about the way it was drawn that just feels perfect.

As a close second, the second panel of King here:

https://www.housepetscomic.com/comic/20 ... -the-king/

Not because it's the best Rick ever drew the character, but the expression feels like I did on the birth of my first child. He did a wonderful job capturing how it feels in that moment, the moment when the anxiety of the future melts away, even if just for a moment, and you can take in the sight of your child for the first time.

Any other contenders?

The last panel in this strip has always been a favorite of mine, with both couples on the couch.

Grape consoling Max in the first 3 panels is sweet, to me.

I'm a Tarot fan, so I really liked a lot of panels in Hearts and Minds. If I had to choose one... it's this second panel where she mumbles after Max presses her about her about Peanut. Not only is it adorable, Rick really captures her insecurities, which I've always thought makes her an interesting character. The third panel where she opens up is nice, too.

There's a panel in Heaven's Not Enough pt. 3 that's always stuck with me. There's nothing special about, it's just a picture of the group at the restaurant, but little details make it stand out. In one snapshot we know exactly what everyone's doing and what's going through their heads; Karishad is failing to impress Tarot, Bailey's cheeriness is doing little to lower King's anxiety, and Daryl and Rock are doing what they always do. Add in the nice scenery, and this panel really captures what's going on.

Edit: How could I forget this masterpiece?! The colors, the shading, King being truly happy <3

Glad that you asked what my favorite panel of the comic is so let me answer that for you. It will have to be this one because this panel is what got me into the comic in the first place.

I still choose to believe that there was something a lot more nasty than water in that balloon.

Breaking news: I have a new favorite panel. I was looking through old arcs and found the perfect picture of Tarot. Thank you for your attention.

I have several but, since you asked for one, that would be Peanut and Grape in "Take the Long Way Home" (24 April, 2017). Wonderful narrative construction, exceptionally artistic, romantic, and … of course … sweetly funny.

One does have to wonder how Grape managed to develop those tolerant tastes. :P

Whoduthunkit is my second favorite fictional company name. Though I still can't figure out if it's the name of the whole place or the coffee shop.

My favorite is from an old strip that I think is defunct called "A Doemain of Our Own". The main character realizes that she needs an eye exam and goes to "Spect-Ocular" at the mall. :D

It's the name of the coffee shop. The store itself was the Book Barn.

Huh, reading is fundamental.... Whoduthunkit?

Anyone have any idea what would be in a Punkin Latte Mochachino Burrito? It sounds like a horror show to expect from a certain mermaid-fronted coffee chain this fall.

No clue but it sounds like something the doctors if they had known about it would have prescribed me for my colonoscopy 4 years ago.

It sounds more like something they would find during your colonoscopy.

Not really because when I think "burritos", my next thought is "toilet".

Thaaaaaat's just a bit too much information!

Pumpkin spice latte-flavored pumpkin chunks and lettuce leaves with sweet or fruit sauce, wrapped in a mocha-cappuccino-infused tortilla

and then it turns out to be a misleadingly named chocolate bar.

considering 'mocha' in the name implies the presence of coco powder, it would have had toxic levels of theobromine either way.

Going with it being dog-safe chocolate since I don't want to imagine all of the dogs dropping dead.

I would have thought it would have been incredibly funny if one of the wolf cubs decided to try to drink him and chase him around the neighborhood. XD

"The Maxwell Thing" Arc got alot of love out of me, but I definitely think this panel was the one that got me the most excited and happy about the future of Grape, Max and especially Rufus. The arc did alot of love for Rufus in addition to Grape and Max:

That was the panel that confirmed that Rufus was not only a cat lover but he had a predilection towards big cats. :3

In addition to probably five things going through Grape and Max's mind about what they are seeing and hearing, the idea of asking to name a kitten after him tells us he think they have potential!

GC is one step closer to fulfulling his dream! Mwahahahahaha!

I wanted to add this as a special mention since I feel if there was a panel that got to me before Rufus goes off to heaven ~ it was definitely the Rufus and Maxwell-in-a-box panel.

It mostly stems to what Maxwell's story up to this point was about: Maxwell was alone, young and he was not good at surviving. Rufus pretty much stands to show that he was the second chance in Max's life and a great deal of appreciation goes towards Rufus for what he did for Maxwell during this arc as the final panel of them is Rufus giving Maxwell to Jeff in a cardboard box. And they are both so happy ;_;

THEN you start reviewing the whole story of Maxwell's life up to this point and wondering if Maxwell did a good job up to this point. I'd say he's doing pretty good. Not perfect, but good :3

Keep living the good life, Maxie! <3

That is a sweet picture … and Maxie's turned out to be as complicated as expected, but not without his tender-hearted side (hats off to Rufus and the Barn Kitts).

Wait a minute. Jeff was the first one who came over and took Maxwell immediately when he saw him? I thought for sure that there would have been a few people looking at him and deciding against Maxwell before they got to Jeff.

I'm sure there were people who passed up on Max. I'd like to see more of Rufus and Max interacting, (maybe Rufus visits Max again) now that he got some closure with Rufus and that Grape, at least, knows the truth about their relationship, Max might feel a bit more comfortable interacting with the angel dog. To me Max is becoming a bit more rounded as a character as we see his softer, kinder, and more vulnerable side. I think the events of The Maxwell Thing cemented Grape and Max's friendship, at the very least, and Hearts and Minds built a connection between the two couples, and the four characters. And this panel is adorable.

I'm sure that there were people who had passed up on Max the first time aroind also but GameCobra's post made it sound like Jeff was the first person to happen across them.

i'm under the impression from the way the comic portrayed it that Rufus either called Jeff up to give him Maxwell or he called his owner to ask around the neighbourhood. I would also assume Rufus knew people and figured Jeff would be a good candidate. The whole box thing was just a cute first impression they wanted to make for Jeff.

^ You might be right Rufus did make a phone call before he left the farm with Maxwell.

I loved Grape and Max’s expressions in the last panel of the last strip of “The Maxwell Thing” .
