Possible future anthology

Post by Macsen »

We've heard rumblings that Rick Griffin has plans in the future to make Housepets books. However, I just had a thought.

When Tom Fischback started anthologizing TwoKinds, he decided to redraw his old comics in his current style. Wouldn't it be cool if Rick did that as well with the old-style comics, exclusively for the books? It would be a huge selling point, especially for Book 1. Not only in color, but re-drawn in the new style.

Redrawing would take much more time and effort, thus delaying the publication of a hypothetical anthology and stalling the updates of the comic.

Then some random author/illustrator is going to draw book 4 of the trilogy.

I'm sure we'd all love to see it happen, but it would take so long to do.

Development is in progress though things are going a bit slow. I also have the bonus material in mind for the first book.

The alt-text of the one where King first gets drunk (with that line) suggested he might've just done that to use that as the title. :P

And since he said third book, it sounds like it will be one year per book, which is cool.

I would buy three copies. One to read, one to lend to friends, and the last as a collectible. WOOT! I CAN'T WAIT! EVEN THOUGH IT'LL BE A LONG TIME FROM NOW!

I'd buy one for each citizen of the Commonwealth and deliver them via jetpack before throwing down exactly 1587 issues from an airship above the tri-border region.

It's like Rick is secretly ploting to use the word 'naked' at least once a year to mastermind a plot to overthrow the government.

I wonder if the dolphins put him up to it?

If so, i would buy 10 books to support our newfound overlord.
If not, i would still buy a book. more for my family since i tell them how cool he is.

I was just thinking... there's, what, about 400 people here on the forums? if Rick gets these things out and people (other than us) buy them, the population here could skyrocket...

Hmmm. About 400 people here... Presumably 200 of which would buy the book... If the book sold for $10... Authors get about 10% per book, unless it's published for free (which might not be likely...)... Then Rick could make $200!

To be perfectly honest i don't think 200 people will buy the book because we don't even have 200 people active on the forum lol. But please by all means surprise me i would love to see people buy those books!

Well, 400 people, but only about 250 with at least 3 posts or more. >_>

That being said: It's the forumites, the comic commenters, Rick's DA followers, Rick's FA followers, and then a ton more people who don't do any of the above, who are gonna get that book.

Yeah, I'm gonna grab a pre-order when that book gets announced for reals...not missing out on this one!

I'd guess price will be $16-20. Tarot's cards would definitely be an awesome collectible to sell, as would replicas of some of the animal's tags. Especially if you do a limited run and have them numbered like 1-100 or something.
