They're several layers of lies built on top of a foundation of truth.

Except New Zealand's stereotype. I don't even get where that one came from.

Speaking as an American, that's not exactly average, even for us.

Every time you needlessly press the "reply all" button, a kitten dies. Pressing it again to apologise for pressing it the first time only makes the kitten die painfully.

That is all.

People took that comment seriously? I'd have thought that writing it as "'Murican" would give it away :P

Well it's a rather loaded term and some people take that kind of stuff seriously.
We really do need a sarcasm/ dry humor font around here.

Interesting doohickey! My car was made the year air guitar became a word. My father's car (or what's left of the original car) was made the year mathlete became a word. How fitting... he's an engineer, and I play bass in a handful of bands (he also happens to be able to afford gas)...

It's one way it grows. Shakespeare used literally THOUSANDS of new words. Sure, he definitely used slang, some of it quite vulgar ( ) if you know the lingo, but he did come up with many new words too.
The grammarphiles among us cringe when we see deliberate bad spelling and grammar though, including when it's slang. :P

I've always seen grammar as more of a guideline than anything else. *shrugs* But that's just one nerds opinion on the matter......

I'm actually following a facebook page for bibliophiles and grammarphiles. It's just differences of opinion I suppose. ;)

In other news, anyone ever seen a swarm of bees go past? I did today and they were loud. It's a surprisingly creepy noise, thousands of insects humming in unison. *shudders*

I'm rather relaxed on grammer as long as it is understandable. I hate texting speak on fourms and other platforms where it's not suitable tho.

As a writer and proofreader for a lot of stuff, grammar sucks. Most of my proofreading is requested by people who either aren't very experienced in writing, or who don't speak English as a first language. (It's even worse when it's both...)

When it comes to grammar, that's the major killer in stuff. I can still enjoy a rushed story full of plot holes if the grammar is alright, but I can't enjoy a well executed storyline if the grammar is sub-par.

And like Foxstar, I'm pretty relaxed when it comes to grammar. A lot of times in English, something eventually becomes an accepted way of writing because so many people were writing it like that before it was officially accepted that it just becomes normal.
