Announcements of leave and return

Hey all. I've been pretty dormant recently, enough that I've missed a bunch. I figured in my return I'd add a topic for those like me whom have to take a leave of absence.

Well then! I'm going to be gone for the rest of the week, as I will be up in Missouri, and my grandparents don't seem to believe in the internet (not true, just they only have dial-up access out there) so I will have limited internet access until I get back

Guess that means I should get to work on finishing the comics for this week

We needed this topic.
I'm not back yet, I'm still in canada, so internet is not guaranteed and even if I have it housepets is not guaranteed.

But yeah that's where I'll be for the next few weeks.
Fredricton.
I got no idea how to spell that actually. It's surprisingly weird.

See you later guys!

Because you really are leaving us because of internet related matters!

Hey hey guys, how was the week?
I moved in all right. got relocated, etc. etc. Anyway, I've done some things as to doodling, that somehow evolved. And well, suffice to say they'll be posted here for your praise and criticism. (you know that's what I feed on.) When I digitize the rest of them I'll show you guys.

Oh jeez, that took way longer than it should have. Long story short, My computer died and I have to replace the operating system. and then it died again  not cool. So I just did some things I may regret a little later and it works now! (at least until it fails)

Hi. U: I remember you, though, so you don't count as new. |B

Japan was funnnnnnnn. There's really no way to describe it, you just have to go there. I swear, everyone's experience of Japan is different - not just because it changes so often, but because there's so many interpretations of it. I think it's indescribably crazy. U:

I've been to Japan. I have relatives there, so I got to stay for 3 weeks. One thing that's a major difference from the U.S. is quality over quantity, in terms of most things, but especially food. Things are really healthy over there, in that regard. Cars are mainly for the elite, and streets are narrow and difficult to traverse in a car: There is absolutly no way to park on the side of a street, and cab drivers have a ridiculous amount of mirrors to see around blind corners and stuff. I had to walk everywhere. The culture there is just so different. I mainly spent my time sightseeing. We went to festivals, Tokyo, Mt. Fuji, and that place where there's basically domesticated deer walking around that you can feed.

That's just a snippit of my experience. Seriously, you have to visit Japan to really know what it's like. You have to experience it, like Elb...Ebly said. Oh, and Eb, I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Housepets fanatic #something or other, depending on how many there already are. There's very little of the old blood messing around on the forums (I blame college finals, something I'm not yet afflicted with), and I'm glad you're back!

And have fun at the beach, Jimmy Jazz.

We don't have college finals here right now. But that's because it's the middle of the school year in Australia. Come to think of it, the only other Aussie on the forum I recall was Yokel. Or the only other that posted more than once, at least. I think there was a teen from Sydney or something that only posted once. Anyway, point is. To be honest I don't think proper introduction's really necessary on a forum, heh. I kinda just recognise you as someone who's been here for long enough. U: I'm staying forever, obv.
You're right though, but 'old blood' is a pretty loose term considering the comic's only been going since late last year. Still, it would be good to see JakJak or Jumplion or FerretWithASpork or Oblivion or BeyondUshuaia or Raikoo or Brittles or [insert any number of other members here] again, and that can't all just be the fault of college. Especially since some like Raikoo I haven't seen since before colour. But it's the internet, people forget, fall out of contact, whatever. Who knows.

Oh god those deer are so mangy and horrible - did you notice, like, half of them eating their own fur? We went to visit one of the 149759 billion buddha statues in Japan, so we went to that area too. Ahaha, at one point, we missed a bus going to our area and it was too long for the next one, so we caught a cab back. The one I was in was fine, but apparently the third group got into, like, devilcab. Bat out of hell (whoa rick did you put in an autofilter or what). Almost ran over a student, didn't stop at stop signs, etc.
Sounds like fun to be honest.
The food there is healthy, but at the same time, it's chockablock with energy. I swear, if you don't do everything the Japanese do (walkwalkwalkstandstandstandridebikewalkmore) you end up gaining weight. The only one of our group who didn't gain weight was the one who ran every morning for an hour before he went about his business.

We saw Fujisama with almost no cloud compared to normal. We could actually see the top! It was amazing. Went up and down and all around on the ropeway, ahaha. |3
It's like. The only attraction in Hakone or something. Fff, besides temples, but there are temples everywhere.

Tokyo was amazing, but I ended up spending most of my time taking photos of shops and people in Harajuku and Shibuya. Go figure.
Shibuya ward is amazing askdfgl I never wanted to leave

So. Where have all these members gone? What is the point of this thread if it isn't used? *sigh* I honestly wish there was a tiny bit more activity on the forum here, that activity would be here if all those guys came back, or we got some new people.

*Ahem* anyway, I think I've found one of the roots of our semi-inactive (or Merka would define as dead) forum problem: I think it's that comments system! It makes it so that people have no need to go into the forum, when normally, they would. I see some people constantly posting on the comments, for every single comic, but little to no forum posts... *looks at post counts and join dates* Ebly, you do realize you are the sole remaining survivor of the original forumites? It appears that the average mortality rate for this forum is 2 months or less. That isn't very good, seeing as the forum is about 7 months old or so...*coughcough* ungh. I've caught a cold recently. Ahem. ANYway, what are we to do? I'm counting about 10-12 or so active members! ARGH of 128. For such an awesome one year old comic, it's kinda pitiful. So what do we do to fix this? Any ideas? (also! This is mainly hypothetical. Random thoughts, if you will. Respond if you see fit...)

Sole remaining survivor?
I'm sure Dissension and Rick would love to know they don't exist, hahaha. But teasing. I don't think the comments are a problem, really. I dunno, but when I think about it? If Rick were to take away comments entirely, sure some of those people would join up and talk about the comic on here, but so would some of them just not comment on the whole. If Rick were to stop the forum, some of us would go back to comments, and some would just not give feedback. Eh. Anyway, It used to be just comments, remember? Or, well, I remember. U: Askdfgl I never know when people started reading the comic around here. Either way, my point is that it's just another means to the same ends. Rick still gets the feedback.

Even then we're not doing bad for a one-year-old comic. I'm thinking of other, much larger comics here, that have been going on for a lot longer - even DMFA's forums and stuff really only have 50 or so regular posters, and the rest seem to come and go every couple months. DMFA, that has been going since what, 2004? 2002? I don't really remember. Over 1000 comics and like 50 regular forum posters. Hahaha, I think if we compared this to DMFA, we definitely have a lot more going for us, considering this is in theory just the beginning. o:
Huhuhu, but then, comparing Rick to Amber is a bit...
ANYWAY.
First job for us to do is cure your cold!
Then we can work on other stuff. Or something. * 3*

Mehyh. I'd assume Rick is implied. It's his forum! And I don't see Dissension posting everyday, just periodically. Or maybe I'm on this forum so much it just seems like others are on so little.

Anyway! Yeah, I know that the comments system came before the forums (I've done my research), and that it's not like Rick can Nuke the comments thing. It does allow for easier discussion and feedback, as well as unedited thoughts. In forums, if it seems like there's an exclusive, tight knit community, it can be intimidating for new users who don't have a name or presence (it's that exact thing that has kept me from registering for the TwoKinds forum). But I ramble (and so do you Ebly). ANYway, I was just ranting. Maybe I do need to do a little more research on forum activity...um, come to think of it, this forum and one other are the only ones I consistently post in. I just lurk everywhere else. Hmm.
