Everyone and their mother's playing this game, so it seemed natural to create this thread.

Discuss any interesting Pokémon you've caught,
gyms you've capped
and anything that suits your fancy.

Also go Team Mystic.

Are you going to go around role-playing as animal control or are you going to go and steal pets in order to liberate them like Joel? Which of the evils is the lesser?

Team Instinct. Team Yellow. Team Zap.

We haven't found many pokemon, but we seriously saw some nice Squirtles.

My brother was a little upset that the very first thing I found from my bed not five minutes after starting was a Squirtle. I'm a very casual player, though. Almost two weeks, only at level seven, got absolutely floored in my first gym match. Also, Zubats suck. Hate them so much.

Go Valor!

I am currently in a desert somewhere. There are absolutely no pokemon to catch out here. There's maybe 3 pokestops and a gym. One of the pokestops is almost constantly lured/incensed though so that's nice.

my mom, my brother, and I all go out to a couple hot spots like every other night. there's a shopping center where people hang out and set lures where we catch a bunch of interesting pokemon, and a place with 5 pokestops where the first is reloaded by the time you get the 5th and walk back, great for farming pokeballs and hatching eggs.

as far as gyms go, I can;t be bothered to actually fight any so I usually either fill empty slots in an already claimed gym or swoop in when someone else turns it grey.

also, Valor is best team and I am totally not biased

I live in a town with about 15 or so pokéstops in a row with about 5 gyms along the way. I've nicknamed this wonderful route Pokélane. Also Team Instinct pride

This game is awesome for a game with so little actual gameplay. The social aspect is the best part of it! My friends and I are all Team Valor, and I've never battled at a gym or anything but I like going out and hunting Pokémon!

There is a gym right by my house. I get to see flocks of Pokemon Go-ers whenever I pass by it. It's really refreshing to see friends and family playing the game together.

Remember to stay safe! *cough cough* There is no shelter from the storm

Make sure to be aware of your surroundings and travel in groups - especially at night. There have been a lot of muggings and robberies facilitated by the game.

Sad thing is, Douglass is right. Apparently there is a push to include more safety warnings in the game. I personally find that sad, as it's the first message when loading the game. The pessimistic part of me feels that adding more warnings is a waste of time, since most players should already know the dangers. Then I hear of people getting into accidents because no one's paying attention. I've heard of the muggings and robberies as well, pretty bad stuff.

Are y'all still playing after the rather debilitating update?

I've heard of that. Nothing happened to me after the update. Terrible thing to happen for those that have played since the beginning.

As I'm an opportunistic player, I don't have too much to lose to begin with, though it did take a while to reach level eight because of that. My brother is a FedEx driver, so on his off days when he has to run errands anyway, he takes me along to a lot of Pokestops. Good thing, too, got a lot of Pokémon and Pokeballs.

that would require me updating. I have automatic updates turned off on my phone and I'm choosing to not update until they get whatever radar functionality they decide on working. I also don't like that they apparently made the pokemon dodge more often.

til then I'm just hanging around places with pokestops, lures, and a bunch of players. going to a big pokeraid tomorrow.

Still no PoGo for Asia and South America. Come on global release! Niantic where your priorities at?!

Fortunately for me, I'm living in the only Southeast Asian city with Pokemon Go. But geoblock for the rest of Asia? Feelsbad

What's so debilitating about it?

A lot of players reported that their games were reset back to level one. Don't know if this means that their Pokémon were also wiped, but it gets hard to level up really quickly. This kind of bug is why I stopped playing the My Little Pony app a while ago.

What makes a "Pokémon Go" event?

A few weeks ago I was at an arts and entertainment district known for street musicians and eclectic shops, and they were apparently doing a thing where they keep a lure on every one of their PokéStops for 8 straight hours. It was really cool, the whole street was welcoming Pokémon Go players, with merchandise and signs welcoming us!

Oy, rough thing to go through. Be prepared for long treks with breaks and water. Seems that kid got a little too into it.

well, pretty much what you just described. a company or companies puts lures on a bunch of pokestops in a set area for an extended period of time. except this event had a costume contest, and competitions for most pokemon caught during the event and who controlled the gym at the end of it. and there were 7 clusters of an average of 3 or 4 pokestops around town that they were using.

Pokemon Go just recently came out here in the Philippines! :D Caught a Bulbasaur and some other stuff when we went to the mall today. Sadly, I just remembered that you need internet to play the game, but I guess that's fine. It's good that I have some form of limitation so I don't end up playing the game everywhere I go.

Also, I'm a bit jealous about hearing how other people just find random Pokemon in their house. I saw one of my friends on Facebook sharing a picture of Pokemon just flocking toward her bed. And she wasn't even moving! And I hate how my phone can't use AR mode for whatever reason. Ah well. Now I kinda wished I was still back at my old university. All of the buildings had wifi and had a huge amount of space, perfect for students, or pretty much anyone, to walk around catching Pokemon and stuff.

I'm not sure if I want to play Pokémon GO after what happened to me.
When I started to use an incense, all the Pokémon I attracted started to flee away with no reason at the first throw.

I figured out that that was a softban. Niantic softbanned me even when I wasn't cheating. Lost one incense, lots of pokeballs and 30 minutes because of that stupid unfair softban

Niantic is a jerk

Also Pokémon GO isn't making me walk outside more but instead pay less attention when I'm in the bus or when walking :|

Wow, that sucks. Did you ever find out why they gave that ban?

Re: Pokémon Go: The Thread

by deepskycyan
Yeah, softbans are usually dealt for GPS spoofing, which is making the game think you're walking about and being somewhere you're not, with the use of third party programs. If you've been unjustly softbanned, maybe try to contact Niantic? Though I doubt they'd do anything given their track record :?

Well, anyways, caught a lot more pokémons without the incense.

From what I know, GPS problems can also trigger softbans (some phones turn off the GPS during a call and turn on when the call ends, making it look like a spoofing). Or going in a car.

I was in to it when it first came out then stopped after a few months. Two years later Meltan and Melmetal are revealed as well as Let's Go Pikachu and I'm like "Carrrrp"
