Before or After Question For Furries?

Post by Agent Sandwich »

Did you find out that you are a furry before or after you joined the HP community (HP community includes either reading the comics, joining the forums or both)?
Yes, I support catlovers! You got a problem mate?

Thank you Housepets! Forum. I've accepted myself.

I became interested in the furry fandom five years ago. I actually accepted that I was a furry shortly before finding this comic.

Before; I've accepted that I'm a furry for like 3 or 4 years now, during only about one of which I knew about Housepets!

We need to be careful with all this furry stuff that's been popping up recently before we scare off a fourth of our membership. I take partial responsibility for starting the first thread.

Now that I think about it, that sounds like me, but replace Bambi with the Lion King.

I've been a furry since...like...beginning of middle school. So well before this comic.

And, Bambi, Lion King, that isn't furry. Those are "talking animals." (I haven't seen Kimba, but I think that would also be talking animal) Other cartoons like Bugs Bunny are considered "funny animals." Of course, this is a debated thing within the furry fandom...

Does it count if you imagine you ARE those talking animals?

It could be argued that they are. Being bipedal is not absolutely necessary; fictional animals can have human traits without walking like them. I'd say they're borderline.

before, but by a pretty narrow margin, it's been about a year since I became interested in the furry fandom, 9 months since I really identified myself as a furry. I first read Housepets sometime between them, but didn't start following the comic in earnest until somewhere around this December.

I would consider myself a furry when I was shown Housepets! I have always been interested in fluffy animals and wanted to be one, but this comic defiantly makes me proud to state such a fact. Makes me feel less weird for wanting to be a squirrel. :)

Before.

I really just figured a furry was somebody who especially enjoyed anthropomorphism in fiction, and I was like "okay" and never gave it much more thought.

Since the term "furry" is subject to individual will and discretion much more than many other labeling terms I am inclined to say I am not a furry. I think.

Same here, although I'm still not stereotypical/generic furry. But I'm young, so that may change.

They aren't, I'm neither. I'm not really eloquent so I didn't know how else to convey my point.

I meant something totally different than that sounded. I meant, I don't like anything anthro past PG-13. I don't plan on becoming stereotypical anything.

I was raised on stuff like Disney's robin Hood, Tiny Toons and some early Sonic. Wasn't until I was your age when I knew what "furry" was. Now that I know, I love being a furry!

You're never heard of Tiny Toons? It was one of the several fantastic cartoons Steven Spielberg executive produced in the '90s. Here is some information, but you really do owe it to yourself to see the actual show. If you can even find it.

hi guys do we need to brush up on what our definition of anthropomorphism is, because that term is pretty black-and-white, and talking animals are undoubtedly anthropomorphic

of course furries take anthropomorphism a lot further
but then, i think that's kind of the point

regardless it's kind of pointless for me to post here since my answer is neither
I was going to make a joke but then I did.
