Homework Thread

Since some of us are students and the chat thread isn't exactly the best place to discuss homework. So Beagle and I decided to open a thread to discuss homework!

Stuck on a single question and can't find the answer even with Google? Not sure what something means and Wikipedia doesn't explain it? Simply want to discuss Biology or Chemistry with someone else? Need advice for a school project? Want to help someone else? Then this is your thread!

However, this is not where you throw your homework and expect us to answer all of it for you. We are neither the replacement for Google and Wikipedia, nor homework bots that will do your homework for you. And we definitely have no intention of making you lazy.

Discuss/Get advice = OK!
Blindly writing down answers/Trying to cheat = NO!

Disclaimer:

* We are not obliged to answer any of your questions. Nobody is getting paid, therefor no one has to answer any questions.
* We will not be able to answer every of your question immediately or instantly. Some of us have things to do other than staring at this thread 24 hours. Not to mention not all of us will be in a good mood all the time or capable of answering everything. Do not expect a quick reply.
* Remember the forum rules! That means STILL no politic or religion here. Also respect the others and no flaming/trolling/blah blah!
* We are human and capable of making mistakes. The answers or opinions we provide are not always correct. Use common sense and knowledge, because you are the final judge.
* We are not responsible for absolutely anything! Including but not limited to: failing grades, incorrect answers, and wasting your time.

(By "we" I mean anyone who tries to help. Anyone can help, discuss, and give your answer/opinion.)

Good? Good! Then let's do it!

How do I get my SQL database to communicate with my C# program, it won't connect to my server
void LoadbuttonClick(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
MySqlConnection connection = new MySqlConnection();
connection.ConnectionString = "server=localhost;Database=information;uid=;pwd=";
connection.Open();

MySqlCommand command = connection .CreateCommand();
command.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM 'trolololol'";

MySqlDataReader reader = command.ExecuteReader();

while (reader.Read())
{
int id = reader.GetInt32 ("ID");
string title = reader.GetString("firstname");

textbox.Text += id + "," + title + "\r\n";
}

connection.Close();
(I'm kidding, you guys don't need to answer this, there is no way you can know where the issue is from this information, I just thought it was funny to post ^_^)

Ah ha! You rock AquaBlast! You got everything down pat!

Also, just so everyone knows, Yahoo Answers is a GREAT site for homework help as well. That's where I go before I've totally given up. It's a site where people ask specific questions, and others (a lot with college education) can help answer them. If you don't have a yahoo account, you can't post questions, but you can search, in case your same problem has already been asked and answered. And don't worry, the same question- By different users, of course- can be asked twice.

I can't make links yet, so copy & paste this to get to yahoo answers:

Great thread. Too bad (Actually, too good) that I very rarely get homework, since our teacher expect us just to study the stuff we learn. And at times when I get homework, I don't do it because it's boring and I can spend the time practicing guitar.

Rock on!

i just saw this profile and thought of something i had done previously, not really anything to do with homework, but you guys might get a kick out of it.
so, for the past few days, our social studies teacher has been starting off class by showing us a political cartoon, and asking us to explain it, (i believe it's in hopes of sparking conversation on a controversial topic) so i had a thought:
why not send in the housepets political cartoon?
i did, but he's yet to put it up on the big screen for us. :? but anyways, if you're interested, the comic is "hosuepets gets political."
if you had to search for it, the other-universe you that didn't would thank me :P

That's actually awesome! If that doesn't work you could always try the Penny Arcade political cartoon. That one works too.

Also if people would like their essay's to be proof read I am willing to help out in that regard as long as you have put effort into the essay and I have time to go over it. By put effort I mean I should not have to struggle to understand what it is you are trying to say. If I have too hard a time of it, I will just tell you to rewrite it.

I remember how frustrating writing in High School was so if you want any pointers or help, just ask away!

I read it six years ago. It was fantastic. But I couldn't help you if you have any homework relating to it. For starters, it's been too long for me to remember it well enough, but also there's nothing you could really need that reading the book wouldn't solve.

Does anyone know any websites where I can find good political articles? They have to be for America, and I'd prefer for them to be unbiased, but any help is welcome.

I'm researching Obama's roles as President. (i.e. Commander in Chief, Chief of State, Chief Diplomat, Judicial Leader, etc.) I need events that I match these up to for examples. I have certain events already in mind (like the recent troop withdrawl from Iraq), but Google doesn't do it all. :(

No wikipedia, or yahoo news, or aol news please. :)

If you can help... Thank you!

EDIT: Whoops, sorry, I'm just looking for a good website, like USAtoday or something (that's literally the only one I know). I just wanted websites, not opinions. In no means trying to spark a flame war. (Sorry, I was rushing... was getting barked at to get off the computer..)

So how about instead I ask, "Americans, where do you go online to read your news?"

You can PM me if you don't feel comfortable with posting here.

http://bbc.co.uk. They're British, so they have nothing to gain for secretly supporting a US party. The only downside is that their American section won't be quite as extensive as an American news source.

~Another French quiz Friday
~A French mid-term Tuesday
~A civics debate tomorrow
~A civics quiz Thursday
~ A civics test Monday
~ Chapter reading, a paragraph to write, 20 short answer questions, a 6 paged packet, and a chart to fill out.
~Civics mid-term in two weeks

~Need title page for this project
~French Club moneys due Monday
~Yearbook money due in about a month and a half

Ohhh, that's not even all of it. GAH!!!

*Bangs head against wall and goes off to hid in the corner.*

And my friends wonder why I'm in the library at lunch, trying to not get run over by all of this.

I'm going to go insane before I graduate. >________<;;;;;;;;;;;

Sorry for that... I'm just so uber-stressed about everything right now.

If anyone knows of any good websites with tons of jokes and humor, please let me know. I need humor in my life right now. >.<

- Preferrably fiction
- I'd like to stick to people, but animals are okay as long as it's in a certain "normal" range (for example: I once wrote a story about a pair of squirrels contemplating the facts of life from their point of veiw... while dropping acorns on people from a tree :P)
- size is free range ^_^

Wheeeee :D

Hmm... maybe writing a humorus story about (you live in the USA, right?) George Washington or Benjamin Franklin?

Dunno... my mind's at a blank today.

I wouldn't ever cram things, it hurts the quality because you are rushing.

I do my work the same time every day, the last minute.
If it weren't for the last minute, I'd never get anything done.

I usually do my homework just before sleep, it is really a bad habit.
