There are tons of bats where I live. They're just a part of the local night fauna. Like some birds. They're so commonplace they don't illicit stares or anything from anybody who lives here.

Bats are pretty epic. I got bit by one once and had to get vaccinated for rabies. ;__;

But all in all, I still don't have a problem with spiders. I let them live when I see them. :3

That's some serious street cred. All that will bite me is tiny insects.

Oh, lizards and birds have bitten me when I've caught them as a child! But they were lame birds and tiny lizards, so it didn't do anything. I think I remember incredulity that they were even trying.

Although I have never been bitten by spiders, I have several relatives who have been, and most of those were brown recluse bites as well. How bad was it exactly? I had a cousin whose bite swelled to epic proportions and turned black. It was disgusting.

As to the ambulance issue, I know how you feel. When I was younger I was rushed out of a crowded doctor's office and had a wonderful ambulance ride to the hospital. The whole time all I could think of was what the other people waiting were thinking.

Down in florida we have to worry about yellow jackets, brown recluses, and black widow spiders. We also have a myriad of reptiles to worry about as well including gators, crocodiles, and snakes like moccasins, copperheads, eastern diamonback rattlers, and eastern coral snakes, but that's what I get for living in a state that is mostly swamp.

Sorry for rambling.

And I hope you get better soon!

Ew... I usually don't kill spiders, but I am going to be extra careful now, especially against the mentioned spiders. Since I never get close to spiders, I have never been bitten by any spiders.

I was bitten by my grandma's dog when I was young though. The dog snatched my chicken drumstick, and me being a child without common sense tried to get it back... Guess what happened.

I got dengue fever once too, the mosquito got me and dad at the same time. However, I think developed an immunity afterward. There are still plenty of dengue mosquitoes flying around, but I am never affected anymore.

I never really cared about getting bit by stuf, but I think I'll be a bit more leary are this..

I collapsed at work and started vomitting and convulsing... I had absolutely no control over my body, but I could still hear and understand what was going on. It took about 30 minutes before I could slightly move my body. I still am a little shakey in my movements..

But yeah.. I had to go to the hospital and be on heart monitors and such... I had like 3 IVs and lots of blood samples taken... It wasn't pleseant. ><

The worst bite related injury I've seen was human. It wasn't a bite per-se, a co-worker of mine had a scratch on his elbow, which that night, while all persons involved had had a few too many, somebody licked. The resulting infection had him pass out the next day, and had him in hospital for a week, during which time his arm swelled to double it's normal size. Human bites need taken as seriously as any animal's.

I have never been in an ambulance, but was once rushed to hospital after a rock to the head on the playground.

Get well soon lucid!

Oh my goodness Lucid. D: As someone who's experienced too many needles in a small amount of time, I feel your pain. As for losing control and shaking and everything, sounds like my violent asthma attacks, but I'm sure (I know) you had it much worse than me.

Guess what? I was at the bonfire after Homecoming today, was laying in the grass, and I look up and have a spider, as big as the palm of my hand, crawling up my pants leg. Talk about shrieking at the top of my lungs and scaring the bejeezus out of fourty or so people. o_O

I only remember getting bitten by a spider once - and it likely wasn't a spider at all.

I am deathly afraid of spiders, I won't get within two feet of 'em.

Been bitten by dogs, cats, birds, wore a lizard as an earring... I'm animal food.

I've never been close enough to a spider for it to bite me.
Usually when I see a spider, I run away at top speed screaming "MOM THERE'S A SPIDER COME KILL IT PLEASE! IT'S NASTY AND IT'S GIVING ME THE EVIL EYE!" at the top of my lungs.

Asthma is pretty common nowadays, and at the risk of sounding repetitive I too have asthma but it is pretty mild considering how others are with it.

For me spiders are just normal beings. It's not their fault that they were born as spiders. Sometimes when I see a little spider, I just imagine that it must be scared of me because for it I am a huge monster.

But a really big spider... I remember few years ago that I woke up at night and I found one on the wall. My only option was to take my pillows and go sleep in a living room downstairs. No way I would go back to sleep, knowing that it's in my room.

I have only been stung twice in my life by wasps.
I have been "bitten" by those skinny house spiders several times, it was not nice, but also not really dangerous.
I also have been bitten by several of those ankle-high wannabe dogs, and by cats in both ways(affection AND because I wanted their tuna).
I of course have been stung by mosquitos several hundred times in my life(I guess) and once woke up with a spider web in my mouth.
Luckily...Or sadly? There was no spider in it anymore. It was really disgusting, I washed my mouth more often than in my whole life before probably.

Usually, I don´t harm spiders as long as they stay in their webs. They keep the more nasty creeps away :3
I try to hold a distance as well, which is why I only tolerate those web-spiders. If one runs towards me, I back up and take care of it ASAP, this means I transport it outside :3

All the bites and stings(except mosquito, wasp sting nr.2, and skinny spider) happened in my childhood, and wasp sting nr.2 was REALLY nasty since it was directly on my head. The wasp got caught in my hair and panic´d I guess.
