"Hiya." Joey waves from where he's copying Maria's actions with a sodden napkin that's falling apart as he tries to wipe.
"Mine's not working like yours, Maria..."

"yeah , because yours is already wet Joey Storm said , picking up a napkins Deliah just slid over and started helping with the cleaning "see ?"

soon, the group was finished cleaning up the mess they made.
"alright, so off to the mini-golf place," Met said.
"hope they have some fun obstacles," maria excitedly added, heading towards the door

The twin roos follow the group out the door and down the road.
"So have any of you guys played before? We haven't. You'll have to teach us. It looked like fun on the teevee though."

Tesla moves closely beside Maria, book held to her torso and ears folded back making her head look rather small compared to when they were up. She's also making a slightly obvious attempt of not looking at anyone. "Did... did I say something weird back in the pizza shop?" she mutters, leaning towards the capuchin monkey. "Jo—Er, no... Jake and the small one were watching me..."

Delilah follows along the group, motioning for Mario to come back to her. The degu complies and jumps onto her head, leaning back and simply enjoying the ride.

a short walk later, the group had made it to the mini-golf place on the edge of town. "Exotic Aces" was the name... probably cause holes-in-one are rarer than any of the animals in town.
"alright, we're here. finally, seems like we've been trying to get here for months," Met said to the others, muttering the last bit under his breath.
Met walked up to the kiosk at the front to buy his and maria's clubs and balls. there were seemingly endless color options for both. "find the color to match your voice" a sign read. a map showed the themes of the 18 holes, each one themed on a different exotic animal.

After a bit of fiddling the roos are given clubs that are the right size. They both wanted the same colour so after a bit of discussion and a short round of boxing Jake emerges the victor and gets the green club and ball and Joey gets the blue ones.
"So where do we start? And who goes first?" Joey queries.
Jake examines his ball curiously.
"This is cool. How do they get the rock so round? I could never do that no matter how long I chipped at it. Some river rocks came close though..."

"that's not a rock guys" Storm said , trying not too giggle "it's a golf ball , you hit it in the hole"

"I think his point was that it's a more symmetrical spheroid, not necessarily what it's called or made of..." Tesla mumbles, nervously glancing up at the lioness.

"Ah. In the hole? Oh, you mean hit it INTO the hole! Okay! Let's do this!" Jake, after watching a kid taking a shot at the hole ahead of their group, puts his ball at the start of the course and lines up his club. It's a simple hole - straight down an unobstructed path - and a great way to get one's eye in. He swings his club like he's seen the kid do and watches as the ball veers to the right, driven by his awkward grip and the fact that he's holding a right-pawed club in the left-pawed posture that comes more naturally to him.
"Huh... This is going to be trickier than it looks, isn't it?"

(OOC: pretty sure minigolf clubs are ambidextrous)
"heh, yeah. these holes are never as easy as they look... but It may have to do with how you're holding the club." Met held his club with the right grip and moved towards the roo. "you've gotta hold it like this."
"It'll still be harder thanit looks," Maria chimed in.

Delilah watches the others, lightly throwing the club between her paws. She tries a few different grips on it before simply setting the head on the ground to rest next to her and give herself something to half-lean on.

"What a strange game..."

"At least it looks like fun."

Storm stood behind Met as he instructed the roos , but it's only because she wanted to see how it's done herself , absolutely nothing more than that........and then her mind started o wander again , starting from the simple thing like "how did minigolf became a thing", then to the long , opening land of regular golf , and then just strange , unfamiliar ,open land......

Joey steps up to take his turn.
"Like this?" he queries, holding the club in a left-pawed grip but not cack-handed like Jake. The younger roo puts his ball on the starting spot, swings the club and stuns himself by getting a hole in one.
"Uh... How did that just happen? And what do I do now?"

Mario and Delilah watched in as the hole in one happened, amazed themselves.

"That was amazing! Can you do that, Delilah?"

"Possibly."

Delilah leaned forward, holding the club between her paws.

"Ah. Is it my turn?"

"well turns don't really matter in this game," Met explained as he marked down Joey's score. "as long as you don't hit someone else's ball. Joey, that was a hole in one. it's the best you can do in this game. now you grab your ball out of the hole and wait for the rest of us to finish."

Tesla shuffles her club between paws, trying to find a place to stand to watch without being under the paws of the larger animals around her. She does keep an ear up to listen on at the general guidelines and tips being given about the game, though.

"So I won? Sweet!" Joey clears the length of the green in a bound and a hop and collects his ball before returning to the rest of the pets.

"So, who's next?"

"Well, you won this round," Met explained. "there are 17 more and they're all counted together. So you could still lose."

Deliah steps up and takes her turn, missing the hole due to adding too much power behind the simple swing.

"Oh darn, what'd happened?"

Mario's attention is on Met, his orange yes wide with surprise.

"17 more games? What a long time!"

"18 in total is a really big number . Has anyone ever had time to finish it all ?" Storm asked half jokingly

"Hey, if I get them as quick as this one we won't be here long." Joey reassures Mario and Storm, his tongue firmly in cheek.

"Met, Storm, Tesla, please hurry up and beat him or he'll boast all day!" Jake pleads.

Tesla quickly scurries out, placing her ball and taking her stroke. She only hits her ball about half way across the course, causing the small fox to chuckle nervously. "I... Sorry, I thought it'd go further, with the ball and... momentum... rolling..." she tries explaining, but stops so she can step aside, ears folded back as she mutters something to herself.

"Well, we can't really beat him this hole, the best we can do is match him," Met explained as he took his shot. "even that's hard, which is why no one else has gotten it." his ball ended up around the hole, but not in.
"No one else yet," Maria said as she set up her shot. she took her swing... and hole in one. "your turn storm."

"oh ! er...." Storm smiled sheepishly "I don't really know how....to be honest..soo....."

"Just whack it. That's all I did." Joey encourages the lioness.

"whack it huh?" Storm chuckled "welp, I think I know where is this going" she said, preparing herself, taking aim........... then swung so hard , she missed the ball and lost her grasp on the golf club.

"heh, you've gotta hold the club a bit tighter," Met chuckled nervously, thankful no one had been in front of that swing. he walked and picked Storm's club back up. "let's call that a mulligan... that's, uh, golf talk for 'do-over'" he walked over and handed it to the lioness.

Joey nearly falls over laughing.
"You're supposed to get the rock in the hole, not the stick!" he teases the lioness, earning him a punch from his twin. "Ow!"
"Be nice, Joey. You just got lucky on your shot, that's all!"

"oh, erm, thanks" Storm muttered , blushing after her could-have-been-fatal attempt "but maybe , heh, maybe I'll just watch you guys play"

"Just let Met teach you how to hold it, Storm," Maria said. "He can stand behind you and adjust your paws."
Met blushed a little bit, and tried to hide it. "I guess... i could do that. If you're alright with it."

In fear for their lives, Delilah and Mario subtly move out of range of where they assume Storm could accidentally throw the stick. From their new place a little ways away from the ground, Delilah gives them a thumbs up.

"oh well erm..." Storm scratched her head for a moment, then handed Met the club with a smile "sure, i mean, we're already her and stuff"

"So, Maria... What's it like having hands for feet?" Joey asks, awkwardly making small talk.

Met took the club, thinking either he misunderstood what the others meant, or she had. but he decided to just go with it.
"Well, you just hold it like this," he said as he held the club with the handle toward the ground to show her the proper hand placement. "then bring the end to the ground."

"It's pretty great," she replied. "I can text with them sometimes if I have my hands full."

"erm...alright" Storm nodded hesitantly , not sure if she got it, but it looked simple enough, kind of.

"Text?" Joey queries. The roos are clearly still learning the terminology.

"Come on, Storm! You can do it!" Jake encourages. "Come on, give it a whack!"

One would notice Mario and Delilah creeping their way back into closer range. They take their place next to the roos and take to listening to the conversation at hand rather than speaking.
