He said. his voice sounded worried. He was clearly concerned about this. "I was hoping that we could get some help with this problem or work something out with the town. Otherwise, I don't think we'll make it 'till next year."

"Oh, sorry," Juniper said, moving towards the hand, using her front paws to test when she came onto Sally's fingers. She felt her way onto the new flesh and stopped when she got to what she took for a palm. "this seems OK. Am I in the palm?"
"Just about," Sally replied, lifting the Mouse up. "How does a blind Mouse survive tat," she asked.
Juniper looked embarrassed. "I, er, ran around in a panic," she admitted, twisting her tail in her hands. "I ran into a gatepost and woke up this morning."
Despite her nerves, Sally laughed. "Better put you up top if Nola's coming in," she said, lifting the blind Mouse up to where she could climb onto her hair as the group headed back into the room with Nola in it.

In her cage, Nola looked up at Sally. "You have a blind rodent in your hair, Sally" she said as Juniper said the hair smelled of Nola.
"I think the answer is 'yes'," Sally said as Nola hugged her.

"Well, for this winter we would need food and blankets. We have a stockpile, but it isn't enough. Though, while that fixes this winter, it doesn't really help in future ones. I was thinking maybe we could get jobs?" Deus looked at him with a hint of surprise on his face. "We both have skills we can use. I bet you'd be great at security buddy. You'd get to stand there, look intimidating, and throw any kidnappers you see across town!" Deus starts smiling. "As for me, I'm really fast and really small. I don't really know what that helps with... maybe a messenger or something? Ooh or maybe a spy! That'd be awesome!"

Senka opened her mouth to retort again, but then closed it. She knew he was right. And she paused for a good minute, looking back at ranger. The mountain felt anger and guilt... mostly at herself. It didn't externally translate very well...

After explaining things to Nola's family and making sure that the cat is comfortable, Jackie instructs them to press their call bell if they need anything and that someone would be available to help them. Then she hurries to help Paul with the prep, and just in time too, as the moment they're finished, Flynn arrives at the clinic and is rushed straight into surgery while the receptionist calls John and Joan who run to their car and speed towards the clinic.

"I'm sure the clinic will call them anyway. They'll probably be there by the time we get to the clinic." Piper points out.

"Boun-cer?" Deus said, somewhat confused. He was trying to imagine himself standing in a store and jumping up and down. He thought it sounded absurd.
"Kind of like a security guard." Flash chimed in, noticing Deus's confusion. "Bouncers are people who stand in a store or bar or something and look intimidating and kick people out when they break the rules." Flash was the one who always went to town, so he understood what it was. Deus normally kept to the woods to avoid provoking the humans, so he wasn't as familiar with human job positions.
"Oh. Sound fun!" He said with a slight smile on his scared face.
"As for being a pet... I don't really know. I'd have to meet the person. I don't really want to give up my freedom in exchange for food and shelter, but then my life expectancy in the wild is... short at best. It's a miracle I've made it this long. I'd be dead hundreds of times over if not for this guy here." He pats the bear on the shoulder. "I'll consider it. But again, I need to meet the guy. Also, I need to talk to that mouse over there before heading anywhere else." He pointed over to Kilo. "He said some things in that shipping container that I need to talk to him about. Mind if Deus and I go do that before going to meet your brother?"

putting a rolled up blanket under her feet, to elevate them encase it is a low blood pressure problem..

"Ma'am, I've just been told that we've found chloroform in the crate so I think it's safe to assume it was used on the vixen here. Just thought you should know in case any of this is to do with that. I don't know if there's, like, an antidote or anything."

"It's about the silo. I heard you mention it to the kidnapper. On our way to town today, we passed by it at the end of the fight when all of the ferals were in retreat. Anyway, what I wanted to say was that we saw a group of nearly a dozen mice fleeing to the southern forest before we passed the silo. If they know the area, I might even have a general idea as to what part of the forest they would go to!" He told Kilo excitedly. "What I'm saying is, there are survivors."

For a long minute Senka just let herself be hugged, held close, and pet. She hadn't realized how much she needed that until it happened. Slowly she wrapped her arms around the ranger... "I'm sorry...". She mumbled, unable to say anything else... Glancing over at the mouse she gave her an acknowledging nod and a silent thanks for defending her.

"I suppose so." Piper isn't exactly sure of what Kilo and Flash are discussing but she's in no state to think too clearly about it and is soon distracted by a cop who gently addresses her, asking for a statement. She provides what little information she can and then nods as the cop suggests a visit to the clinic for a check over for injury.
"Um... You guys going to come? To the vet, I mean?" she asks her gathered friends.

Kandi turns the vixen's head to the side, and pours the water over her muzzle to wash the chemicals off of it..
them rolls her head the other way, and pours more water across her muzzle..
There that should stop your from being reinfected with the chemicals smell.. now just lay back and sleep it off for a bit..
Rummaging in her pack..
Or i'll make sure that you sleep it off..
Holding up a horse injection syringe with a nice LONG needle..

The ranger pets and hold her close still, scratching in behind her ears..
The way we do things is so that everyone have the best chance of coming home, uninjured as possiable.

"Who's Juniper?" Piper queries, allowing herself to be shuffled towards the police car. The policewoman has offered them a lift to the vets since Phil doesn't have a car with him as she needs to document Piper's exam results for the case against the kidnappers anyway.

At the clinic, Joan and John have arrived and are in the waiting area, anxiously hoping for good news of Flynn.
At the same time, Lucky is in the back room filling a bag with blood for Flynn as, fortunately, their blood types are compatible. From lots of experience, the vets have had his type on file as well as his phone number.

"It's all right, buddy. You can wait in the eastern woods. I'll find you when I'm done visiting Flynn and then we can go with the nice officer. Why don't you hold onto this?" He hands Deus the policeman's card. "It's a little awkward for me to carry."

"Fine." the bear grunted, accepting the card. He then picked Flash up and set him on the ground in front of Piper.

"All right. I'm ready to go."

Piper offers Flash a paw to step onto before climbing into the car She puts him on her free shoulder and then moves Kilo momentarily to allow her to put her seatbelt on.
"I think you speak fine, Deus." the doe smiles. "See you later." she waves before shutting the door. Phil climbs in via the other door and sits beside her and then the police car pulls away. Piper is acutely aware of Kilo's words and wants to know what happened but she can sense the mouse's distressed state and decides not to ask.
"Do... Do you know how Dad is doing, Kilo? How' he's, you know, coping with everything? Must have been a shock for him."

Deus waved goodbye and wandered to the edge of the eastern woods where he could still see the railyard. He leaned against a tree, which bent under his weight, and studied the card the officer gave them. There were plenty of numbers and words on the card, but he didn't really know what most of them meant. He found one that was labeled "Phone" but didn't quite know what that meant.
