We've got a, uh... Question..." Collins didn't need to turn around to know that the rest of the doctors had turned their gazes towards him, "Are you guys alien wolves or something? Because, we saw a zoo on our way through the Beacon and you don't look like the wolves we saw."
"We're from Earth, but we aren't wolves." Randy said, shaking the dog's hand. "My daughter and I are Lycans. We're venomous shapeshifting canines able to alter our bodies in order to resemble a human." he said, looking forward to their reaction to that tidbit of information.

"We've already uncovered some civilians. You can start helping them while we search for more." Tempest said, pointing to where they had gathered the civilians together.

Meanwhile Eira simply smiled and waved at the doctors.

"It was more personal than professional, I think," she admitted. "Um, for Golta - that's my senior agent," she told Seena. "He used to do a lot of undercover work as a stunt performer and kinda needed his looks, y'know" she continued, her ears drooping as she thought wistfully of those looks. "He, um, got scarred more than a few times and it was Jaken's dad the studio used to send him to to get put back in one piece. He said Jaken's dad saved his career more than once." She looked directly to Hive. "In fact I remember he said the studio used to send ALL their scars to him. They kept in touch a bit and Golta decided to look for Jaken after it went bad. A faint trail led toward Earth and the rest you know."
"That... Honestly doesn't help me much on it's own. Can you tell me about what happened with Jaken's father? Anything you know could be helpful." Hivemind asked.

Back when freelancing - between Government sanctioned missions - I ended up doing a job for one of the outlying planet governments. They'd hired through the net so they didn't even know who they'd hired, it was a 'payment on delivery' thing. Totally anonymous. A wannabe conqueror going country by country and seemingly invincible. Skin like Titanium, fifteen human foot tall, ability to use energy blasts, all that stuff. No army, though," she added. "He'd not really wanted one as he wanted to do it all himself. You know, an idiot? Still trouble. Still vulnerable to one well placed shot though. I took position on a rooftop, covered myself in a camo cloak - not as good as Hive's, of course - and waited. Twelve hours without moving before I got the shot off. An armour piercing bullet with a Hi-ex core straight through the left Pupil. One of my best shots." she snorted a chuckle. "Government deducted the damages to nearby buildings from the energy explosion he let off when he died from the bounty. Never trust a Government to pay you correctly."
"'eard about that one. It was a solid shot. Thought it was kinda odd no-one knew who they hired. That sorta thing's kinda important ta know." Gear said, nodding as they walked. "Few even claimed it had ta be one of my shots." He shrugged. "My proudest shots happened after joinin' the Champions. Adds a bit of challenge when yer told not ta kill an' all ya have is a rifle. Gotta get creative, ya know? Was huntin' a Warlord. Varanian, big guy, liked ta eat his subjects." He continued as they neared the compound. "Was makin' my way up a mountain 'bout five miles from his castle, or whatever they call it. Got myself jumped by three Varanian guards on the way. So, I took my rifle, shot the first in the foot, then ejected the cartridge into the second one's eye. Loaded another bullet in the gun, aimed high, and fired. Bullet went the whole five miles, through a window, knocked a chandelier on 'is guards an' took his arm clean off." He said, miming the arc of the shot with his arm as he described this feat of marksmanship that borders on the absolute absurd. "Champions stormed the room right afterwards. Anyway," he said, moving on to a different question. "What kind of gun do ya prefer? Bullet? Energy? Laser? Scoped? Unscoped?"

"It says they hae oil fer droids if ye want any. Tha' way ye cuid join us in th' meal."

The Varanian was thrilled that she accepted his gift. The Varanian knife was likely one of the wickedest blades kol had seen before. Designed in equal parts for stabbing, maiming, and carving, it had a handle the perfect size for Kol. It's blade was serrated on one end... if you could call the array of spikes designed to quickly grab and shred an enemy to pieces serrations. It's tip was sharp enough to pierce even Champion armor. "Gotta say, that was kind of refreshing." Gadgeteer said. "People see my species as cannibals and slavers. Granted they aren't wrong, but sometimes it's nice to remind myself that my species isn't totally doomed to be evil all the time."

The Ibis was the next ship to fly in. It landed a little ways away to avoid landing straight on the heroes in the street. It's doors opened. "Right. Now that that is over, we need to get moving." Predator was too big for the Ibis, so he simply waited for the ship to take off. He, Kobor, and Talya would follow along behind the dropship.

Legion didn't really say anything. They were less than impressed with the Varanian love letter, considering they were all eaten by a Varanian. That, or they had mixed feelings. It was a bit hard to tell at the moment. The Legion climbed on board the aircraft, helping the mother and her kids on board before offering a hand to help Sage up.

MT walked over to the Ibis and opened up his cockpit to let Chris out before latching himself to the cargo rails under the ibis's "beak".

"Well," Sana admitted, "from what I know - largely from the reports as we'd never, ever, interfere with a domestic crime scene by actually going there, you know - the family was hit by a team of about five hunters who knew the access codes to the manor house grounds." She brought up pictures of a small manor house in about five acres of land on a screen. "They came in from the South, keeping off the roads, and entered the house by the conservatory. That was where they found Jaken's mom. One Vixen against five? Not much chance but she did manage to wound at least one because there's a blood trail entered evidence that never got traced. Jaken's dad meets one in the study and - and this is the official report - drops one with a solid state projectile. He actually used an old human Magnet revolver... Magnum," she corrected, peering at the strange word. "DNA records had to be used to confirm who he shot as it had enough power to obliterate his head?" She glanced at Seena and saw the Rat was shaking her head. "Oh look," Sana added brightly, "it's a cover up! Anyhow, dad runs and gets caught by the main staircase. Jaken himself is probably upstairs, this being late evening, and he sees this and runs East, through to where his father had his chemicals and compounds for work and it may well have been that that helped save him. I mean, he crashes through stuff that doesn't just whiten half his fur and give him powers but creates gases so toxic in his wake that even the Police attending the next day had to wear breathing apparatus in a ventilated room." Sana took a sip of her drink and waited for someone else to talk.

"Well, that's kind of you to say," Hannabelle remarked when Gear talked about her shot being mistaken for his. "Good thing it was a few years back if we're on the whole 'no killing' thing. Personally I'm pretty adept at most weapons but the favourite has to be the old Mascicha Long RangeMaster I got the bronze with." She hopped over a tree root that had buckled the path. "It was obsolete even then. People had told me to upgrade but I knew every inch of that old thing. Its weight, how it pulled, how certain oils affected it. Everything. Now? I tend to need a scope for the long range stuff."

The NotJaken trotted over to Rika and gave her a hug before escorting her to the Sparrow. "Off on a ride again, Miss Rika!"

"Stay with the Beacon," Corp advised. "If it's the one we know, he's like a virus, forever looking for the weakest spots - I said weakest, not weak - and attacking through there before spreading. He targets the underclass and offers them a version of freedom to do exactly s he wishes."

"See you in a bit, Pred," Jenny called cheerfully before heading towards the ship, "Come on, handsome," she told Kolt, "let's go see what new trouble we can find?"

Rika hummed in acceptance as she was lead into the dropship, still tapping away on a datapad.

Traci followed suit, giving a short wave to the rest of the group before stepping on and getting into a seat.

You'd be surprised by how many people guess my true nature at a glance, guess perception averages are greater outside the rim." She turned to Predator with a shrug and slight tilt to her head. "I guess. But we did show up with the mother and helped get her kids out. Context clues shoulda done the trick or something! Eh, I just don't like being accused of being evil until I actually do something."
He listened to her a bit before smirking. "Odd that you decided to say I was evil in response considering I haven't done anything as well to you and I did help those young kitsunes, nice to know you don't have to be an older Nekomata to say things hypocritical." Kolt was still confused after Kol’s explanation, but for different reasons. ”Aren’t I supposed to have a say in who my, uh, “mate” is?” He turned to look at Jenny. ”That is something I’m supposed to have a say in, right?”
Kolt, the fact that you have to ASK...
-
”Of course, considering what he’s apparently been up to while we were stuck between dimensions, it seems that either his tactics or his definition of “weakest” have changed. He’d normally never consider taking on a fleetkiller, let alone three.” Liz said, stroking her chin as she thought. ”I’d suggest staying out of the slaving business, as that’s something he finds inexcusable, but it’s possible your position as a high ranking member of the Varanian military means he’d find you guilty by association. Ultimately, if the two of you come to blows and you can’t beat him, offer yourself over to him in exchange for the safety of your crew. For all his faults, he views himself as an honorable and noble man, and he will respect displays of honor from his opponents, provided he finds them sincere. If that doesn’t work, then he’s changed too much in our absence for any of our advice to be useful.”
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Tatiana gave small laugh towards Sage as she started to follow her teammates. "Apparently also don't hafta be an older knocko whatsis to miss sarcasm. If I thought you were evil I'd have knocked you into the next county. ... This planet even have counties? Ah, whatever, either way thanks for helping the kids! Maybe, maybe not see ya later!"

Upon catching up with the others she chortled at Kolt's situation, catching the tail end of his plight. "Eh, depends on culture. Like, back on the rim there were these pseudo cyborg dudes who would, amongst themselves at least, decide partners through back alley brawls, one may want the other as a life partner the other may want the other dead, winner decides. And no matter their previous attitudes towards eachother if the right one won they'd get together as the happiest couple ever. Every time. They freaked me out. That level of happiness is just unnatural."

"I'm retty sure I wouldn't win in a brawl with Kol so I'm kinda happy we don't do it that way," Jenny remarked sagely. "and of course you get a big say, Kolt," she added, patting his hand gently as she smiled, "but I think Kol was just agreeing with me on how handsome you are." She strapped herself in.

Kol for her part is glancing between Kolt and Jenny, a skeptical look on her face, as they board. "Of course you would, but I would need to go through her first. And, either my translator broke again, or you just implied only being allowed one... You small ones have strange ways."

when jenny speaks up about loosing in a brawl, Kol's expression twists into a mess of utter befuddlement and trying very hard not to laugh. "Jenny, the challenged choose how the challenger is to be tested, why would you pick THAT? i though the arm thing comment was a joke."

Rika looked up from her datapad. "Hm? Oh, I'm perfectly fine. Just focused on my notes at the moment. I've had a lot to take in today.." She replied calmly before returning her eyes to the screen in front of her. Her expression seemed calm yet strangely focused.

Hivemind considered this. Looking at the crime scene photos and the picture of the house, he tried to picture the event. There were a few things that didn't add up though. "You said that Jaken's dad killed one of the assassins in the study... Why was the assassin alone? Why didn't the gunshot alert the rest of them?" He thought for a moment. "What state did they find the father's body in?" he asked.

"Here's a tip:" The Lycan said, frowning slightly. "Don't call a Lycan a Werewolf. The distinction is clear enough to us that it's something of a trigger word. Werewolves are savage and mindless in wolf form. They can't generally control themselves. Lycans like Eira and me can. But, yes, you have the general idea."

Meanwhile, the Old Jaken was inspecting a ruined building.

The Sparrow took off as soon as the three of them were on board. Given how fast the Sparrows move, it took almost no time at all before the aircraft was touching down again. With Randy occupied with the clone Doctors, Eira went to greet the new arrivals.

The door to the Sparrow opened and Eira offered an icy hand to help people out. "Hey guys. Glad you could make it. You ready to save some people?"

He listened to her a bit before smirking. "Odd that you decided to say I was evil in response considering I haven't done anything as well to you and I did help those young kitsunes, nice to know you don't have to be an older Nekomata to say things hypocritical." Upon catching up with the others she chortled at Kolt's situation, catching the tail end of his plight. "Eh, depends on culture. when jenny speaks up about loosing in a brawl, Kol's expression twists into a mess of utter befuddlement and trying very hard not to laugh. "Jenny, the challenged choose how the challenger is to be tested, why would you pick THAT? i though the arm thing comment was a joke."
Once everyone was on board, the Ibis took off, followed closely by the now invisible Predator Drone. Their destination was different. The dropship was headed straight for the Monta Weapontech compound.

"Alright everyone..." Hivemind said to the team through their communicators so the mother and her kids couldn't hear what he was saying. "We came here for a reason, and I plan on seeing that reason through. The data we retrieved from the crystal Jaken had with him implicated three high class, powerful people in his attempted kidnapping, not to mention the assassin attack at the Bahamas. We believe those three people have been replaced with lookalikes who are under the employ of an unknown person or persons. One was the Vice President, who we found out led the Varanians here as a part of a larger conspiracy which the attack against Jaken was only a part of. Another person who we believe is involved in both crimes is the owner of Monta Wepontech. Our goal is to apprehend him and bring him in for questioning."

"Why would they call the Varanians here? Seems like a really stupid move."

"You can ask Monta when you see him."

"I never liked these conspiracies things. Way too many steps in my opinion with too much chance for failure. Need Lazarus level intelligence and foresight to make it work. Or maybe Hivemind intelligence and foresight."

"Or WE are the objective. it could be that they let jaken make it to earth and botched the hit on purpose, banking on Champions getting here at the 11th hour; wanting us to arrive to arrest the 'mastermind' battered and bruised, cause we're walking into a trap." Kolt shook his head at Kobor’s suggestion. ”No, that would require that they have some way to avoid retribution. They can’t hide it, since he’s listening in on our coms and would know what happened, they don’t have the military power to deal with the Beacon, Hivemind has much more political power amongst the galaxy than them, and quite honestly, they wouldn’t have any real reason to kill us before today.” He paused for a moment. ”Then again, most of the wanna be masterminds I’ve encountered haven’t been the most rational people, so we’re just going to have to wait and see whether you’re right.”

Liz gave a satisfied nod when Sep-Heth mentioned he was getting rid of his “livestock.” ”That’s good. That should go a long towards keeping you off his radar.” She said, making a mental note to check on that “livestock” later. She was about to say goodbye, when she realized something. ”One favor I’d like to ask of you. As far as I know, this person thinks that me and my crew are dead, and I would like to keep it that way. So if you do encounter this man, do not mention anything about our meeting to him. Can you do that for me?”

"Didn't you talk once about an enemy making people disappear? Replacing friends with foes, taking faces, twisting minds?" Kobor asks, in response. "Sounds similar to what this regime was doing doesn't it? Soldiers often lower their guard after a victory, especially if it was a costly and tiring one, and our comms aren't infallible. The Champions aren't just going to stop being a threat to someone like that, they'd have to cross our path eventually. If a confrontation is inevitable, why not engineer a situation that stacks the deck. Slim chance yes, but if it was me, it's how I'd do it."

"Heh, they caught on quick." Eira called from over by the new arrivals.

"Needless to say, humans and lycans have a somewhat rocky relationship. We evolved to hide among them, hunting them as a primary food source. Then, they developed gunpowder, and the tables were turned. Then our disguise served the purpose of hiding ourselves from human hunters. It got less effective as time went on. Now there are only about five hundred of us in existence."

"Right now, we have about thirty. We've gathered them over there, where Mom is." She pointed over to Morgan, who was standing next to a group of Celicans. Many were injured, and most of whom were in shock.

"Glad to see you guys! We could use your help over here!" Tempest said, waving.

At that time, when no one was looking, Old Jaken had somehow managed to free about a dozen people from the collapsed building he had been looking at. He directed them to Tempest's group before pausing when he saw regular Jaken.

Randy had to do a double take. The resemblance between the two, for being completely unrelated to each other, was uncanny.

"I almost miss the days where I could think like that. Then I took a bad shot. Realized there wasn't a way ya could kill someone respectfully. No matter how clean it is, ya never hurt only the guy in the sights." Gear said, somewhat sadly. The two of them walked up to an abandoned guard tower on the complex. "We'll be up there." If a confrontation is inevitable, why not engineer a situation that stacks the deck. Slim chance yes, but if it was me, it's how I'd do it."
"There are a number of problems with that theory, Kobor." Hivemind chimes in on the comms. "First, The people Kolt mentioned were body snatchers. They took over your body, and everything that goes with it. These people are using surgery to replace targets, which won't give them any of your powers. Second, you are a rookie team, and as much experience as you've had in the past few days, you are a single team. If their goal is to target the Champions and the Beacon as a whole, then they put a lot of effort and caused a lot of self harm in order to trap roughly one percent of Champions. Basically, all that would result from such a plan for them would be a declaration of war against the only civilization in existence so powerful the Varanians themselves fear provoking. Current working theory is that Monta Weapontech wasn't able to convince people to buy their super-duper mega overpowered guns at their high prices, so they needed to demonstrate a need by showing they were effective against enemies immune to Celica's normal, just regular overpowered weapons."

"It's a bit grim, but we could ask Legion." Archangel suggested as the seemingly deserted and quite heavily damaged compound came into view. "Looks like the Warlord hit this place pretty hard. It's possible some of Legion's souls may have been guards here."

- - - - -

As the others spoke among themselves, Legion turned to Sage and spoke to him, the droid's voice was different. Like a young adult female was speaking. "So, if you don't mind us asking... what are you again? Also, what brought you to Celica?"

Hivemind let out a bit of a laugh and waved dismissively again. "Please, the pleasure is mine. You don't have to treat me so formally. I like to think I'm a friend first and a leader second." he signed.

Their waiter arrived at the table with their drinks. He said hello to Hivemind, and Hivemind said hello back. They talked for a bit about his college classes and how his family was doing before they broke off the conversation so he could go back to work.

”Plus, even if they somehow convinced the Yah Rin to team up with them instead of enslave them, it’s not exactly hard to spot when someone’s possessed by them. Just look for the ethereal tail popping out from the back of their head and see if the veins in their eyes have doubled in size.” Kolt said, before looking out the window and seeing their destination. ”Oh good, an abandoned military complex. I can already hear the creepy and/or sad music.”

Liz sighed with annoyance. ”I didn’t want to have to come out and say it, but I don’t want my ex, who didn’t exactly handle our breakup well when he didn’t think I was dead, to go through a “I lost you once, I won’t lose you again” phase. Is that answer satisfactory?”

"Eh, hope for the best, expect you've underestimated what counts as the worst." was the answer Kobor gave, making predator shrug. there's no way the twins' "Chaperone" was going to fit inside the complex without some heavy demolition happening, so for now they had him set up in an overwatch position, running active scans for anything that could be an indication of survivors.

The NotJaken looked up at the older Hunter. He looked at the oddly white arms, legs and tail-tip that the other seemed to have too and his brain went through several scenarios before he held a hand out. "I'm Jaken," he said confidently. "Are you me from the future?"

"A pink tone bullet," Hannabelle mused, climbing the ladder ahead of Gear. "Depends where made. Lysallians use pink bullets because they give off a traceable radiation signature when you tag vehicles with it. The Duralites coat theirs with a deadly poison." She poked her head over the parapet and, without it being shot off, pulled the rest of her up. "Best not to get them mixed," she added. "I take it it's more to do with tracing than painful death though. And, generally? Yeah, I can use a bullet."

Sarah placed her order. "Ah'll take th' Angus, pal." After the server had taken the order, she looked to Cailean.
"Only one thing ah 'ave ta say on it, mate. Deep fried Christmas Dinner." and she gently reciprocated his elbowing.

Sana looked up the notes. "That's the Sheriff of... Rakintha province," she announced. "Want me to put a call in?"

"Glad to see you guys! We could use your help over here!" Tempest said, waving.
Rika nodded with a slight smile to Eira, then headed over to Morgan. "Okay.. It's nice to see you too, Morgan. I'll get started, shall I?" She said half-heartedly, pulling her bag from her back. With that, she set herself up and started treating the injured Ceilcans first.

Randy had to do a double take. The resemblance between the two, for being completely unrelated to each other, was uncanny.

"Theodore Roosevelt coined the phrase "Speak softly and carry a big stick: You will go far" giving credit to the people of West Africa for the expression." Hivemind stated. "The idea was that in diplomacy, it was good to negotiate peacefully, yet be sure you were strong enough to handle any threat in case things went wrong. I like to think I speak softly. I'm friendly to the people, and care for them as best as I can. I also control everything on this ship down to the weather systems with my will, and have an army of military droids and hired superheroes to protect the people in case speaking softly doesn't go well, and for the rare crime I am the strong arm of the police force. I think that is quite a big stick."

Hivemind leaned back in his seat. "Besides, I've found that this direct care I put into the people causes crime to plummet. No one is ever in a desperate enough situation where they need to commit a crime because I help them out of the situation personally before it gets to that point. Even the poor and unemployed lead generally healthy lives."

"We're forest dwellers." The Lycan explained. "And we try to keep hidden. Even if we hadn't hunted humans in the pre-medieval times, they would have hunted us until the post-modern era if we didn't hide in forests. Clearing and claiming land to raise livestock... Kind of hard to hide, know what I mean?"

"Didn' think ya knew." Gear pocketed the round before limbing up the ladder. "It's a Zero Penetration Ricochet round. Used for trick shots and non-lethal takedowns. Sep-Heth's eyes narrowed a bit. "I will not make this promise. The reason for this is I must think of my people first. "Though it makes me wonder, possibly from me not paying attention, how would Jaken obtain a crystal with such information? And this conspiracy has to go deeper. Greed is too simple a motivator for all of this. Though if these people are stupid enough to allow such vital information to be placed on a crystal they then lose, well we could be dealing with idiots who bumbled this far." Her eye-lights slowly turned red, much like when she assumed her shell had been stolen. "... I am unsure which scenario angers me more..."
"We believe that Jaken got the crystal from his father's lab. He was the surgeon they used to change people into the people they needed to replace."
Buster wrote:"Eh, hope for the best, expect you've underestimated what counts as the worst." was the answer Kobor gave, making predator shrug. there's no way the twins' "Chaperone" was going to fit inside the complex without some heavy demolition happening, so for now they had him set up in an overwatch position, running active scans for anything that could be an indication of survivors.
The scans show that there are in fact survivors, but they are deep underground beneath the complex. From the area they are spread out across, it seems to be a rather expansive underground bunker or complex.
Buster wrote:"Agreed. ones who are too unskilled to survive their own actions causing this much trouble would just be embarrassing." Kol commented, taking up the rearguard position as they moved out.
"To be fair, the soldiers of Lakarian City were the only ones who were repelling the Varanians on their own. It's just... Nobody saw the Warlord coming. Varanians don't have powers. Suddenly you have an army of them led by a man-eater that can portal to anywhere on the planet in an instant and wreck everything on a level compared to Godzilla. It caught them off guard. Heck, it caught US off guard."

Gadgeteer walked up to the entrance and started working on decoding the lock... when Titan walked up and punched the door down with no effort whatsoever. She gestured for the team to enter. "I suppose that works too..." Gadgeteer said sheepishly.

The ground floor was completely abandoned. The security devices at the entrance were shattered when apparently a giant fist crashed through the ceiling and destroyed them. As they continued on, the only people they find are the ones simultaneously unfortunate enough to not survive while being lucky enough to avoid being eaten alive by the Warlord.

"I plan to grow," the NotJaken declared, a little defensively despite the slight grin on his lips. "Up a bit and waaay older. Like you, sir." With that he stepped away, over to Eira. "Where are we hunting first," he asked, his 'International Rescue' hat popping back onto his head.
---------------------
Jenny thanked Legion for understanding before heading off the shuttle, pulling her gun around so she was holding it in a downwards angle across her front. She could pull it up at a half seconds' notice but sometimes that half second came in useful. It meant that she wouldn't necessarily be pointing a gun at an innocent survivor for one thing. She entered the building and cleared the first few rooms in the eerie silence. Hearing of the guns' success at stopping the Varanian troopers - if not the warlord himself - she picked one of the Monta trooper guns up and added it to her stockpile.

"Righty-ho," Sana said, putting in a communication request and pulling up the address in a small town in a forest a hundred miles south of the capital. "Ah," she said, frowning at the screen as a message came up. "Comms are down in that region. The satellite's down and the land line's severed too. Road trip time?"
"Road trip!" Seena cheered.
"Not exactly seeing my planet at the best of times."
"Sorry."
"Never mind. There are a few places I hope got flattened." She turned to Hive. "So, boss? A recognised badge, a you and a Comms specialist go on a trip?"
-------------------
"Not totally sure what a Chuck Norris is," Hannabelle admitted, doing pre checks on her rifle, "although it's probably related to a Lundgren? 250lb muscleman fighter?" She looked up. "They were showing classic Earth films on my cruise. He was in a few sports movies. And a secret agent film that was camp as anything.* That camera's on, by the way," she added, nodding to a lens above Gear's head.
-------------------
"Tends 't be medium," Sarah said solemnly, "but ah don' mind if'n it's a bit rare, y'know?" She smirked at her chosen mate. "Ma use' ta say 'Mak' mine as rare as a gen'rous Scotsman' but ah don' think they're that rare, right 'nough."

"I'd rather not answer that right now, Morgan.." Rika replied flatly, finishing up with the Ceilcan she was treating. Once she was done, she stood up and looked to Tempest. "..Not here, at least. At this point, and throughout her rambling, Rika looked quite distraught. It seems like what Traci said was true, and Rika was letting everything get on top of her. She also seemed to be worrying more for others than herself. She's truly a bleeding heart.

"..I really don't know what to do. I-I guess all I can do is focus on helping who I can, right? That's all any of us can do.. Right?" She finished, looking expectantly at Morgan for an answer.

Tatiana followed along with her team, careful in case traps of latent security measures had yet to be triggered. She kept her rifle in hand at all times, just in case. As she walked, she asked out loud to Hive, keeping her eye lights focused on potential trap placements, "Any sort of weapon info we might want to know? A part of me doubts the weapon maker will come quietly. At the very least they'd have the most tricks up their sleeve to throw at us if they got snippy."

marking out a series of waypoints that lead to the nearest detectable survivor, Kobor transmits it to the others, most receive it as a hud icon on their suits visors, but it inadvertently causes Kolt's suit to chime and start projecting a holographic 'go this way' line on the floor, deadspace style.

”No, but it doesn’t surprise me that it’s there. Mythos always was prepared for pretty much everything. It’s part of why he was such a pain to deal with when he got possessed.” Kolt replied as he started following the line to the nearest survivor. Along the way, he walked closer to Titan and gave her a friendly pat on the back, though their height difference meant he was patting the small of her back. ”I don’t think I said this earlier, but thanks for the save. I’m pretty sure we’d be dead if you hadn’t shown up.”
-
”That’s all I really expect you to do. It would be wrong to ask you to put me and my crew over yours.” Liz said, checking the time absentmindedly. ”I suppose that’s all we really have to talk about for now. Though one final bit of advice. Do not underestimate this man. He is clever, he is charismatic, and above all he is cunning. He’s always pulling new tricks out of his sleeves, and I guarantee you, any colony or outpost you have that deals in “livestock” is at serious risk while he’s around. Be careful.”
Play The Hayseed Knight. This isn’t self promotion, I just really like the game.

Keeva made a decision. After dinner was over, she wanted to get... comfortable... with the numerous new species they were living with so she decided they needed to try the cinema and walked him there after checking the listings for location and, in fact, film. "Two for... Sand Bandits please," she told the bot behind the counter, hoping Hive had put an account in her name. They probably wouldn't see much of the film anyway...

"Also to be fair, no other totalitarian ruler is capable or willing to interact with every citizen on a personal level. Any action I take, anyone affected by it is someone I know and care about." Hivemind signed, starting to explain. "I also have computerized safeguards meant to ensure that no matter what my policies are, there is always the desire to help others motivating those policies. As for where where the ship came from, I made it pretty much from scratch, you could say."

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"Righty-ho," Sana said, putting in a communication request and pulling up the address in a small town in a forest a hundred miles south of the capital.
"Sounds good to me. Grab what you two need and let's go." Hivemind gestured, walking over and holding the door for them.

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"Not totally sure what a Chuck Norris is," Hannabelle admitted, doing pre checks on her rifle, "although it's probably related to a Lundgren? 250lb muscleman fighter?" She looked up. "They were showing classic Earth films on my cruise. He was in a few sports movies. And a secret agent film that was camp as anything.* That camera's on, by the way," she added, nodding to a lens above Gear's head.
Gear pulled out a knife and threw it straight through the camera lense. "Not anymore." He walked over and started setting up and checking his own rifle. "Chuck Norris was a legendary martial artist. Lots of legends about him. They say he once pulled out a gun and killed an army of 50,000 enemies. And then he started firing the gun. Another story is that he was bitten by a cobra. After weeks of excruciating pain, the cobra died." Gear laughed. "The man had a bunch of stories and jokes. One said he had a Grizzly Bear carpet in his room. It was still alive, just too afraid of Chuck Norris to move. It sort of goes on like that."

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"I plan to grow," the NotJaken declared, a little defensively despite the slight grin on his lips. "Up a bit and waaay older. Like you, sir." With that he stepped away, over to Eira. "Where are we hunting first," he asked, his 'International Rescue' hat popping back onto his head.
"I can feel some people trapped in the basement level of this building here." Eira pointed to the building they were next to. It looked much the same as the other buildings in the area in that they were all basically piles of assorted rubble and junk. "We should get them next." Eira reached down and started lifting the rubble with her ice hand.

~\Rook/~ wrote:"Whoah,whoah,whoah.. Your last name is Montoni!? That's Rika's last name too!" Traci said excitedly. "That's crazy! No relation, of course. That would be really Crazy!!" She added, giggling at the end.
"That would be crazy, wouldn't it!" The old Jaken said with a bit of a grin and a twinkle in his eye. "Certainly would be crazier than anything else that has happened today, I assume."

~\Rook/~ wrote:"I'd rather not answer that right now, Morgan.." Rika replied flatly, finishing up with the Ceilcan she was treating. Once she was done, she stood up and looked to Tempest. "..Not here, at least. Follow." She lead her away from everyone before turning back to her. "*ahem* Okay.. I'm only telling you because I know I can trust you. My problem is the whole.. Lots of people passing.. Yes, I've had patients pass away, and we fought the deceased in the catacombs for our first mission.. But.. I don't know why this is worse for me. Is it because it is so many people? Maybe because they look like Kitura? Or-or because - Oh goodness. Jaken.. I mean, sure Ceilcan culture has a lot of.. loss of life.. In their media, but.. I don't know! I-I also have some ideas about some new equipment for myself and.. And.."

"I wouldn't worry too much about Jaken, for one thing. Celicans literally teach evisceration as a class at his age. He wants to help. Hivemind wouldn't let him if he didn't think Jaken could handle it." Morgan said, sitting down and gesturing for Rika to do the same. "A lot of people died today. I understand if that gets to you. It gets to me too. I think I'm just... used to it now. We just... We can't let it show, you know? We bring these people hope. How much hope will we provide if we look like we feel hopeless? So we can't let the despair show, or it will only reinforce that feeling of hoplessness they are going through. As for the new equipment, that you need to ask Hivemind about."

Legotron123 wrote:”That’s all I really expect you to do.
Welsh Halfwit wrote:"He's probably the most dangerous person I've met," Corp affirmed. "Including you. He's not someone worthy of respect."
"I understand. The only colony I will have is the one we will be headed for as soon as possible. Thank you for the warning." Sep-Heth said. "Is there anything else?"

Welsh Halfwit wrote:Jenny thanked Legion for understanding before heading off the shuttle, pulling her gun around so she was holding it in a downwards angle across her front.

"Whatever they were using was able to repel Varanian invaders, so expect things that surpass Varanian weapons technology. From what I've seen, it tends to be similar to Varanian tech, but upgraded. Lighter, more powerful, more efficient, and compact enough for a Celican to hold." Hivemind said through the comm system.

"Sounds like something not even we should be allowed to have. If we're taking these guys down, let's wreck their toys where we can."

"Negative, Gadgeteer. Don't cause more damage than is needed. We will decide what to do with the weapons after you bring Monta in."
Legotron123 wrote:”No, but it doesn’t surprise me that it’s there.
Titan looked at Kolt and nodded, but did not say anything as the group continued onward.

>>Oh hey, did you know this feature was here?
The waypoints lead the group onward until they get to an employees only elevator. Gadgeteer immediately got to work hacking the console. In not too much time, the elevator whirred to life. It took a few minutes after calling the elevator itself, but finally the doors opened. It was spacious, but it was also fairly clear that a couple of people would not be able to fit inside.

"Chris and I will have to find another way down." MT stated.

Titan, likewise, wasn't going to be able to fit.

"Right. We'll see you down. Everyone else, get inside." Archangel said, stepping into the elevator and gesturing for the rest of the team to follow.

Tatiana nodded at Hivemind's rundown while the second shell and herself entered the elevator and awaited it to descend. After a moment she turned her cheshire grin to Archangel. "It is pleasant to see your quick recovery."
