”I have no idea how this could be us, considering we.... Hang on a second.” Kolt said, slowly realizing something. Saffy had mentioned Traci being back at the hotel, plus that sonic explosion thing and the purple glow had both happen after she bumped into him and Jenny. That would imply.... ”Oh my gods, she’s a touch based power copier.” He said, somehow looking happier than he did during Jenny’s little treat earlier.

”And judging by the sprit floating in front of a sleepwalking body, plus that rather displeased look on her face, his company might need some help.” Liz said, before walking up to the disembodied ensign. ”Let me guess, ghost problems?”

"Sir! Captain! Oh, um... I... well..." she exclaims surprised, noticing Corp then Liz. Though she quickly trails off looking embarrassed. "I can't figure out how to make sleeping-me not follow me around and do things I'm thinking of doing... I'm supposed to be in bed recovering." she explains gesturing to her body's bandaged midsection. Regaining some composure as she explains. "I'd just be in my new apartment, but I cant sleep without becoming, well, this. I thought since what the Lieutenant turned into was similar, he might have an idea." now she's gesturing to her incorporeal self.

Meanwhile her physical body is visibly trying to stand at attention, but kinda failing due in part to the limited coordination of being asleep.

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"Board games," jaken repeated, before turning his head slightly to an angle. "Vid games? And film with June, Miss Rika?"
"Of course, I did say we.." Rika replied after she polished off her third main meal, gesturing around the table. "..And I'm not actually sure how to start up the vid games, if there is a vid game system installed on my vid player." She added before starting her fourth main. "Anyway! If we watch films, what genre - what kind of films would you want to watch? I can rent whatever you want from the on-line lists so we're not limited to just the data-disk films I have." She asked after finishing the aforementioned meal.

"I don't think I've tried board games. are they tasty?" there isn't a hint of sarcasm or humor from June when she says that. only curiosity.

”A touch based power copier. It means that when you touch someone with super powers, you copy those powers.” Kolt explained, sounding rather giddy about all this. ”The evidence fits. You used Traci’s powers to speed over to Jenny as soon as you noticed her fur extensions, you used Jenny’s powers when you accidentally blew yourself into the air, and you used my powers to stop your fall. I don’t know how you became a power copier, but you definitely are one. If you ever decide to become a Hero, you will be a great one.”

”Well, if there’s anyone who would know how to fall asleep as a disembodied spirit, it would be Nocturl.” Liz admitted, looking a bit more perked up now that she had someone to help. ”As for the whole “body copying you thing,” did you try finding someone to tie it to the bed so it can’t follow you?”

"Might not be wise, Captain," Corp advised, "For all we know, this could be a 'soul still tethered to the body' sort of thing. Of more concern to me is how you felt on waking up this morning? Did you feel like you'd rested at all?"
---------------
"I don't know either," Saffy sniffed, recovering some of her composure as she looked at a bird she wouldn't normally have been able to see. "But I want to stay here... Did I just say that? With Dad."

Colorado gave a small shrug, "I dunno, I never really expected to ever think about having pups. To tell you the truth I didn't really expect to have a girlfriend either." He leaned his head on to hers as she snuggled in closer, "For a while there I always figured I'd adopt or something like that. But now I can actually have my own. I guess it's just kind of a shock."
------
"It's the one from the cow." Denver floundered for a second, trying to come up with a good conversation topic past food... "So what's a day in the life of Sana like?"
------
"Is it sentient? Probably been a few centuries since my kind last ate living things. Pretty sure some of those rodents, lizards and birds had other ideas in those days." Chris gave the mech a shrug.

at the captain's suggestion of being tied up, the ensign was going to comment about not wanting restraints to risk straining her injuries while she's still recovering, but corp's counterpoint served well enough and wasn't something she'd thought of. so she stayed quiet about that part.

"The more I sleepwalk, the less it feels like I actually slept, Sir." She explained after taking a moment to think about it.

"That's not good," Corp told the spectral part of Ensign Taylor. "Even I know the body uses sleep to rest and re-energise. If your body gets starved of energy... Tell you what, Ruby" he added, "after we've all spoken with Nocturl, one of us should escort you to the nearest Medbay. They have a lot more experience with powers than we do."
-----------------
"I know of what you mean," Cherry said languidly, "the desire to mate is strong for my lot but it still comes as a shock when it really happens because it means we know who we want to be with. It kinda startled me, at first." She looked up at him. "It meant I knew the first time I saw you, love. And I know you'll be great. And, if we want another?" She poked him in the side. "THEN you can adopt(!)"
-----------------
Sana thought for a moment. "Well, generally," she said eventually, "I I first get up... Then I run several checks on my computers whilst finding something for breakfast. I check the 'most wanted' postings - partly to make sure I'm not ON them - then I run checks as I do a couple of K on a run - it's more like 5k with my short legs (heh). Then I'll find a place for lunch if not at the office." She stopped for a second. "I have a boring life. Well, that's going to change. I used to ice skate!"

SeanWolf wrote:The Other Side observes the parts one by one as The Hivemind brings them in, closely analyzing them and understanding how each one works and all the ways they can be tampered with in-case Hawk does find a way around them. Thankfully, from its observations, it seems Hawk, for the first time, won't be able to simply remove the safeguards as he did to one of his bounties weapons. Nodding it's head and thanking the Hivemind, The Other Side, after motioning Hivemind to follow it, returns to where Hawk had his ship and pulls the weapons out (Consisting of two beautifully crafted Revolvers, two SMG's that used cylindrical magazines, and a double-barreled shotgun adorned with a skull and other embellishments) and places them on the nearby table to install the safeguards. As the other side proceeded with the installations, it added that while Hawk will be upset, it will explain to him that it was either add the safeguards or he wouldn't help him out at all as "I believe, contrary to what he thinks, in a sense of proper judgement. It's why my people have never had any wars with any species." Finishing up with the safeguards, it goes to add the small canister to the weapons, but not before taking a whiff of the amber within the canister. "This amber...not like anything we ever smelt before. Did you create it?" it ask as it installs the canisters and quipping "Done...as you can see, they have all been install properly and to your specifications. Even if Hawk goes beyond his strength, he won't break the safeguards" before handing The Hivemind back the box.
Hivemind inspected the weapons and the safeguards installed. Satisfied that they were installed correctly, he armed the anti-tampering mechanisms and handed them back to Hawk. "Everything looks good to go." he said. "Next thing in the list of stuff to do would be to show you to your apartment room so we can customize it to your needs."

Buster wrote:"Wait, you heat up... Is that why everything hivemind makes tastes slightly off, even when he gets it right?" Kol asks, putting the pieces of the conversation together, as she follows the others. "I thought he was just bad at preparing food."
"No, he is a bad cook. Or rather, not a great one." Gadgeteer admitted bluntly. "He intentionally limits the skill he cooks with to encourage people who have the money to go eat at the local restaurants. Lots of public services he provides are a bit more basic than the privately owned ones. Helps keep the economy moving, he says."
Half the games players wrote:A bunch of stuff involving Saffy discovering her powers.

I need you to calm down for a minute and do something for me. You see him?" he said, pointing at Gadgeteer. "I need you to shake his hand, and then I need you to avoid touching any other super powered people, OK? Gadgeteer only has one power that your ability can copy, and it's innocuous. It will replace the telescopic vision you got when Kol helped you up, and you'll be able to go back to a normal life like nothing happened. Sound good? After that, I'll need to have a look at that glowing rock you found."

Elsewhere, a replicator continued printing a strange, manta-ray like modified creature. "I... suppose there are a few things to sort out before the host finishes printing." I am aware you are used to using Talya to back up your memory, but that is no longer an option."

The possessed shell laughed and shook it's head. "See, this is part of the problem. You've spent all of your time fighting for your life and never actually living. In short..." Diligitis raised a hand and the Frisbee started spinning faster. "You need a hobby, my friend. Catch!"

The disk launched itself through the air, spinning and gliding toward Tatiana at a reasonably fast pace, but not too much faster than a normal Frisbee. This was just level 1.

"Excellent." Predator said. The drone leaned in a little closer. Then, it opened up it's colossal jaws and rested the lower one on the train station platform. The device in the back of it's "mouth" fired up, and the glowing portal to the digital realm opened. "Please step inside and through the portal in front of you. Remember to keep all hands, feet, tails, and organs inside of the vehicle at all times."

Hivemind was shaking his head with his face in the palm of his hand.

He decided to distract them from this by making fun of the movie like they planned. "Looks like they're about to have a handgun fight. How much you want to bet they use a rifle or shotgun firing sound effect to make things sound more dramatic?"

Still, you have not built up any resistances to any diseases or pathogens that may exist in native animals. And I would rather not carry around a pilot with food poisoning, thank you very much." Regaining control of his body (though oddly oblivious to the safeguards his Other Side installed on his weapons), Hawk places the weapons back and follows Hivemind. "Sorry about my outburst earlier" Hawk said as he followed beside Hivemind.

Tatiana shrugged and raised her hand, 'catching' the spinning disc before it got too far away from her. "Eh, it was living enough. Better than a boring life of coasting on nothing." She reared her hand back, making the disk spin. "And I mean, it's been like three days. Kinda understandable to not find a hobby that fast, though the idea sounds nice." She pushed her arm forward, sending the disk flying back at a decent speed, not wanting to escalate the speed of the game too quickly.

"Good evening, Mrs Nocturl," Corp said carefully, putting a hand out to stop Taylor's body. "We apologise for disturbing you but we were advised the Lieutenant needed to talk with us?"
----------
"I wouldn't say anything's wrong with being able to see a long way off, Kol," Jenny told her friend, "So long as you know how to turn it off so you can see your feet."
---------
Saffy swallowed and nodded, clearly looking a little unhappy as she stepped towards Gadgeteer, aided by her father, who was still confused completely by the last minute or so. She looked up at the Varanian and hoped she wasn't going to get scales. Or burst out of her remaining clothing. Celicans generally didn't wear much clothing but that wasn't usually because they'd put on a few hundred pounds in weight and several feet in height in a few seconds. But she hoped the Hive knew what he was doing. She looked up at the mountain again and tried to ignore the fact she was looking straight into a single piece of his armour with supervision as she held out a handpaw to touch him. (After the touch) Her eyesight snapped back into place quickly, making her close her eyes tightly against a sudden flash headache. She felt... normal. "Um," she said, blinking to clear her sight and brain, "what power DO you, um, have? Should have asked earlier, I think..."
----------
"And how many times will they 'ker-chack'* their guns," Hannabelle replied, "or forget to? Not to mention reloading."
----------
Keeva chuckled at Pred's humour. "Sounds like teleporting," she said, more to Dan than anyone, "Captain does it all the time, I'm told." She stepped forward.

* noted it replaced the word 'c*ck' there. She didn't say 'ker-chack because that would be silly.

Colorado released a contented sigh, "Sounds like a good plan. In any case, I'm glad you chose me. I've just got one question, when do you wanna do it? Like when do you think we'll be settled down enough?"
------
"Same here," Denver said, a little confused at the most wanted list, "I used to ice skate before I joined as a medic. Never was too good at it, but I could go forwards and I didn't fall too often... Wait..." He glanced at his date, "You mean that kind of most wanted listing?"
------
"Good point," Chris said. "Big crowd, one of the hivedroids is talking to some pup, everyone looks a little confused..." he said, listing off what he saw, "Kolt smells very very excited. Maybe they got word of more bad guys that need to be beat up?"

Sana looked around to make sure they weren't being listened to. She wrung her handpaws together. "I, er, used to be a good guy hacker," she confessed. "One of a group that kinda exposed secrets the Government wanted kept? Well, er, one time it was this big thing coming up? Election year? So they, like, decided to get a number of us arrested on fake charges. Fortunately, Agent Golta got to me first and got me in the IOC." She grinned. "So now I good guy hack legally. And, sometimes, officially." She looked askance. "I'm really not selling myself, am I?"

"Well, we'd need to wait a bit, I suppose," Cherry said, still trying to keep track of the movie but preferring her conversation, "and are you talking of adoption or exchanging rings?"

You might've bent the laws a bit, but it's not like you killed anyone in the process or anything. Honestly I think it's pretty cool."

"W-what?" Colorado stammered, not entirely sure he heard right. "What. Six months... You mean- Really?!" He said, visibly unsure of how to feel, his ears canted over and his eyes wide gave him a nervous and confused look, but the way his tail was currently assaulting both the couch and Cherry, it was obvious how he really felt.

"That's true," Sana said, brightening up as they closed in on the restaurant. "I'm a useless Hunter!" She stopped. "And we needed that corridor," she said, pointing back to one they'd just passed.

"I keep forgetting we're still quite rare," Cherry laughed, before trying to see if she could catch the tail in her mouth.

"Honestly I can't say I was a good one either. I mean, I chased squirrels when I was a pup, but I'm pretty sure I just let them go if I caught them. Hope that doesn't affect my datability," Denver said with a chuckle. "Doesn't effect yours in my eyes in the slightest." The last one was Orthia, and she was the COOLEST!!! She was a founding member of the Triumvirate, she took down an S Class threat by herself, and her costume had this cool coat that was made from the fur of her en-UMF!” He was cut off when his arm moved without his permission and clamped itself around his muzzle.
I do not believe this is what Hivemind meant when he asked you to calm down.”

”Though we were going to check in anyways, see how you were settling in. I know I’m not the one running the ship anymore, but I still want to make sure my crew is doing all right.” Liz said, trying to appear a lot less frazzled than she actually was.
Meanwhile, Lewis was trying to look hard at work on his tablet, but in reality he was just shopping to replace some of the items he lost in the void.

"You will have to learn to control that." Hivemind said. "Our greatest threats are experts at manipulating emotions and turning people against each other." He continued leading Hawk through the nearest portal door. The two emerged in the lobby of Champion Tower. "You'll have an apartment in this tower that you can use if you wish. We need to customize it."

Buster wrote:"He wont let me eat the stuff anyone else prepares though." Kol points out, somewhat grumpily.
"Really? That's... strange. Why would..."

"Most food on the Beacon is poisonous to Kol." Hivemind interrupted. "She can't have iron."

"Oh." Gadgeteer said. "Right. Sometimes I forget biological barriers are a thing."

"I'm trying to get better, Kol. But meals from your world are still fairly strange to me. It's going to take time, and you've only been here for about four days."
Buster wrote:"Wait, whats wrong with having good eyesight?" Kol asked, having been paying more attention to gadgeteer'sanswer to her earlier question, and missing half the conversation.
"Nothing's wrong with it. But for someone who's lived their entire lives without zoom-and-enhance vision, it can be jarring and disruptive to their day-to-day activities if they don't know how to control it." Hivemind explained.
Welsh Halfwit wrote:Saffy swallowed and nodded, clearly looking a little unhappy as she stepped towards Gadgeteer, aided by her father, who was still confused completely by the last minute or so.
"Hmm..." Gadgeteer said, thinking. "My people... Varanians... for some reason never get powers. Everything about us is natural. Our strength, our durability, our size, all of it naturally evolved. Everything except for one trait. The reason I forgot Kol can't eat some things is because that simply is not the case with Varanians. We are universal predators, whether the prey would normally be safe to consume or not. Whether they even qualify as animals or not. Nothing is safe from being hunted by Varanians, and that, combined with our... aggressive nature... is why my species is near universally feared. A helpful side effect of this is an immunity to food-born illnesses and parasites. We can't get sick from eating things." the Varanian looked down at Saffy. "In short, unless you intend on going around eating stone golems or plant-creatures or something, the only thing that's unusual about you now is you can't get any stomach bugs." He shrugged.

"I figured that would be the best thing for you to copy if you want things to go back to the way things were." Hivemind said. "The Varanian species' glitch has no impact on day-to-day life, while simultaneously being pretty darn useful for anyone who consumes a lot of raw meat."

"Thank you Quint." Hivemind said, rubbing his forehead. "Kolt, people generally get scared when they discover life-changing information about themselves. And unlike your planet, powers aren't common on Celica and things aren't really equipped to accommodate people who have them."
Deske wrote:"Good point," Chris said. "Big crowd, one of the hivedroids is talking to some pup, everyone looks a little confused..." he said, listing off what he saw, "Kolt smells very very excited. Maybe they got word of more bad guys that need to be beat up?"
"Perhaps we should take a look." MT said. The mech started walking over to the group gathering outside of the hotel. "Excuse me. May I ask what is going on here?" he asked.

"One of the locals apparently just discovered they have powers. We're trying to calm things down for now so we can figure things out easier later." Hivemind replied.

Welsh Halfwit wrote:"And how many times will they 'ker-chack'* their guns," Hannabelle replied, "or forget to? Not to mention reloading."
"Well, one of them looks like they're carryin' a DA/SA, so not 'ker-chacking' it before firin' would be- and he just did. Ya don't need ta pull back the hammer before firin' with that gun! Ya just waste time with that!" he called out to the characters on the screen as if they could hear him.

All I have to do to save any memories you want me to is to hook up to Predator's file system and create a copy of your memories in one of the local database servers. That part is easy enough. "Oh," Saffy said, still craning to look the Varanian in the eye, "that, um, sounds good?" She stepped back, lowered her gaze and rubbed the back of her neck before looking to Kolt. "I might not mind being exceptional," she said, "but in a few years?"
"About ten if I have any say," her father chipped in. "anyhow, since that's hopefully dealt with, may I show you to your rooms? Some of them aren't quite ready yet but they will be shortly. Saffy, go get a new shirt on, yeah? Show Mr Mind that rock whilst you're at it?"
Behind them, the Deputy was clearly thinking about something.
--------------
"Be nice, Kol," Jenny said casually, "it's good to see a happy look on Kolt's face!"
-------------
"A-and the first thing I have to do is apologise for one of my staff," Corp told Mrs Nocturl as Ruby made her play. "As they'll probably jabber on about 'Spam' and 'suits you' for a few minutes..." He took a breath and prepared to move outside his comfort area. "How are you coping, Ma'am?"
------------
Hannabelle watched the movie gunfight play out, clearly having a fun time being rude and noisy. "Bullets do damage in stone from 300 yards," she called, "your piddly car door can't stop them from 30!" She looked towards the door, where a customer was clearly having an agitated word with someone. "Reckon we're going to be asked to shut up," she 'whispered' to Gear.
------------
"Nice place," Keeva admitted, looking around before moving to one of the control seats. "So when do we brag about this to Lewis, Dan? He'll be SO jealous!"
------------
"Oh," Sana said, suspiciously lightly, "he DID notice after all! Oh, well!" she followed the arrows, thinking to herself that, sometimes, the best way to convince the smartest guy in the room to do exactly what you wanted them to do was to let them think you weren't the smartest guy in the room. "And cooked sounds fine. I once had a Grekla... sort of Rodenty thing... that had been struck by lightning whilst I was chasing it. That's how I found cooked food doesn't make me ill."
-----------
"I know, Han," Cherry said cheekily, referencing that scene in 'Empire Strikes Back'. Or was it 'Jedi'? And I love you, too."

What if he has better things to do than help the pseudo psycho mercenary find a hobby?" She pivoted slightly before reversing the motion and throwing the disc back. "Eh, guess I'll ask him anyway. Maybe the planets will align and he'll be open."

"Try using a third as much firemoss for seasoning the meat and not heating it. that might be a start."
CyberDragon wrote:"Nothing's wrong with it. But for someone who's lived their entire lives without zoom-and-enhance vision, it can be jarring and disruptive to their day-to-day activities if they don't know how to control it." Hivemind explained.

"Ah, Alright then." Kol flatly states comprehending exactly none of what she just heard. between the biology jargon referencing things her people haven't figured out yet, and the jarring topic switch she's lost.
Welsh Halfwit wrote:"Be nice, Kol," Jenny said casually, "it's good to see a happy look on Kolt's face!"
Kol shrugs, inadvertently shifting the icepack from earlier, and having to move it back after. "I was going to guess that expression was his being delirious from hunger. we really need to find him some food, scrawny doesn't look right."

Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

Jaken watched June carefully. He placed a piece of the jerk Chicken onto his fork and, when he figured she was ready, flicked the piece towards her mouth.

Which immediately gets the sharklet coughing as it landed mid-inhale.

"Sorry," Jaken said, wondering how to do that food clearing move on a Sharky Fox. "Shoulda waited. You OK?"
