Well! My philosophy teacher broke down and threw a hissy fit over something largely unimportant today, and I thought I'd sneak in a few doodles of him during class. It turned out better than I expected so I ended up colouring it.

Oh and I drew him as a dog. Mr. Barker is now just Barker :3

I love that drawing! Thats what every teacher be is like xD

So I've been drawing this since last night.
Image
-~-Animatronic Blizzard is just serving drinks to the guests! Maybe after he's done, you can ask him for a dance :3-~-

While looking at my artwork, I was wondering "What does Hukley do to make his characters look so good?"
Was it the background he uses? Or does he shade differently than me?
So I checked both and found that instead of using just one color for shading, he uses 3 or 4! So, I shaded my latest drawing with 3 different shades of black at 55%, 44%, and 33% opacity to create this new (to me) shading!
Without Hukley as my inspiration, I would never have figured this out.

I also changed the eye coloring to make the shades in the eyes a bit sharper than before rather than just the simple white on top black on bottom.

Also, Blizzard doesn't have his snowflake tag. I couldn't find a way to fit it in, so its just him and his fluffyness.

And then I realized something else. I've come a long way since my first digital drawing. I made a Now and Then picture of the 2 side by side.
Image
I realized that I have come so far with my artwork, and it is because of you guys helping me out, so I sincerely thank you!

Daaaawh but he's so fluffy now!

@deepskycyan: Hey, that looks really good! Hehe, very fitting name!

@Neon: FNAF! FNAF everywhere! :D Very well done!
And you're right. I use at least 2 layers for shading (most of the time 25% and 30%) and one for the light (mostly 40%). I'm glad I could help you! :D
It's really cool to see how you improved! :D Keep it up!

Alright. I just noticed that I haven't drawn a skunk yet :D

Time to change that! (Because they're really cute) :)

Is this supposed to tell me something?!?

Well I'm no artist so I can't really critique much. But when unfocused, the background usually isn't double unless you're drunk. Try a blur of some sort. Maybe smooth out the lines a bit. Once again I'm not an artist, feel free to ignore me. :P

You don't need to be an artist to make good suggestions.

Kinda like how I don't write music, but that doesn't mean I can't listen to song and say, "That sounds like it should have something after the second chorus. Maybe a solo of some kind?"

It still lets people know where they can work on things. Especially because if someone who doesn't know the subject can pick something out, chances are other people will too.

I know, it's just whenever I say things it feels like people tend to get defensive and try to tell me I don't know what I'm talking about because I can't draw.

I see that it's better here though. Makes me smile.

Great work, Neon! I agree with Deske's suggestion. It's amazing how far you've come though. I can haz that soda please, Blizzard? :P

Huk: D'aww.

@Deepskycyan: Your art is very impressive too! You should keep it up and share more with us! I can't say I approve of making fun of teachers but the art is still very well done!

@Deske: I can't say for sure why people would react like that but there are little techniques you can use that can help people be more receptive to getting feedback. Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to share some of them with you. :)

Alright... here are the two pictures. On the left side you can see the first version and on the right side the final version... Can you find all 8 differences? ;)

I can spot 7 for sure:
- Highlight on the nose
- Shortened highlight on heel
- Straightening of top edge on the curl of the tail
- Highlight on thumb
- Smaller shadow under air freshener
- Changed shadow around feet
- Slightly lighter on middle toe

Do I get credit for 7/8? =3

Yes you have seven.

The heel is shorter over all.
- Straightening of top edge on the curl of the tail
At first it looked like he had two tails... XD

Does the shadow on the air freshener (or lack thereof) count as separate from the shadow under it?

Yay! My ATD is good for something other than taking forever on drawings and driving commissioned artists nuts! :P ;)

Almost didn't get that one - figured the shadow was an extension of the shadow underneath for some reason (a case of visual semantics).

Nothing much to say about this one. I saw a really cute mouse drawing and wanted to replicate the character. Sadly, I couldn't find one that was *cough*... appropriate, so I just drew my own character. Enjoy! ^w^

Looks pretty good, Stan! However, one small critique: The hand on the human is too big (it's about the same size as his head). The head could be a little bit taller, but that's just being nit-picky. ;)
