Or you could come up with new characters for us to play with. ^^
Douglas isn't my real name, but because of a name block put on me by a higher-order being known as Djinni, I can't say my real name.

Wow, not even at the meat of the game and everyone already wants Imaginate sessions. They're fun, obviously, but I'm much more intrigued with the adventure aspect.
By the way, what were some of the other possible things for Imaginate? I only saw Lightsabers.

Pretend the lightsabers are cutlasses and do a PotC session. (PotC stands for Pirates of the Caribbean) Maybe LotR.

I agree, that's why they're bonus! It just turned out much more fun than I anticipated.D-Rock wrote:Wow, not even at the meat of the game and everyone already wants Imaginate sessions. They're fun, obviously, but I'm much more intrigued with the adventure aspect.

Well, there was quite a few that I predicted. One was a "cops and robbers" scenario in which you get the paper bags THEN check the poster for an idea (which I considered the default), one was a improvised scenario (like the one Peanut and Grape do in the beginning of Housepets!) one was a power rangers scenario (checking the toy box), there where a few other Star Wars ones I considered like Darth Maul or Count Dooku (The final battle of episode 6 just made the most sense), and another was an Indiana Jones scenario (further inspecting the room). There may have been more that I forgot about, but I'm drawing a blank on em'. I know there where one or two joke ones or secret ones that could be achieved by doing very specific sequences of events though, there's actually a lot of secret events that could happen in this game, and I don't know WHY I put them in because some are REALLY hard to find or achieve and you only get one try at this game
NotedShadowstar23 wrote:Pretend the lightsabers are cutlasses and do a PotC session. (PotC stands for Pirates of the Caribbean) Maybe LotR.
Oh ABSOLUTELY. The immersion thing was just me adding flair to the appearance and showing off, and to put you in the mood of the scenario. Plus, to do this imaginate session I had to study the original scene over and over again to stay accurate with certain lines and make little jokes, so the more and more i watched the more and more I got into making the scene as immersive as possible. I even planned on taking the immersion further by giving them their character's actual outfits at a certain point if you followed the story exactly, but I like that it went in it's own unique direction and allowed me to demonstrate the "___ remembered something!" feature.Naro Rivers wrote:I guess the "You're feeling rather immersed..." wasn't just for us.CHAOKOCartoons wrote:PS: I totally forgot about the rest of this chapter while going through the "play" arc, which in-game wise means it did a good job. Also something I considered. My only worry with that was getting people to actually play it. Doing it for another webcomic get's people attention immediately, which is good since games like these require a decent amount of people to keep things going and possibly spread to a wider audience. Sure it will eventually get attention from people who just like adventure games, but it would take much longer.Naro Rivers wrote:Or you could do something completely original in this style.CHAOKOCartoons wrote:However, depending on the success of this game, I may just make stories that play like this game for other web comics. That being said, with how immediate the positive response and activity was for this game, I'm pretty sure by the end of it I'll be in the position to create an original one. Even then I would still like to do ones for comics with really interesting expanded universes. There's a few I already have an eye on, but I wouldn't want to get anyone's hopes up before we even get to the game's present time
Also yeah, update's definitely tomorrow. Only half way done and I'm very sleepy.

Personally I like this because of its ties to Housepets - cute bipedal dogs doing fun things is how I roll. But it would be cool to see what you can come up with.
Just don't take on too many projects. A burned out cat isn't as much fun to play with as one that's kept fresh.

I agree! Do more Imaginate sessions when you're done with this! But, another option you have for those, rather than having the main characters for it or making new ones yourself, you could maybe get characters from us! Just a suggestion, though. And I still say you should do more Imaginate sessions!
Let's give it everything we've got! Get ready, because it's Punishment Time!

...we missed out on a Power Rangers Imaginate...
Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
I would've liked too, but I don't think we have enough characters to do it the right way.
Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
From what I've seen, I'd think an absolute minimum of four; three on the team, one villain. Or it could have been an instance where only a few from the team were at the fight.
Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
Exactly what I was thinking, about the minimum being 4. The other way could work too, but would miss out on much joke potential,D-Rock wrote:From what I've seen, I'd think an absolute minimum of four; three on the team, one villain. Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
Wow, I GREATLY underestimated how long that would take. Here you go!
-----------------------
"Palpatine": DeheheHEH!
"Luke": Father!
"Palpatine": DEEEHEHEHE!
"Luke": Fa-*COUGH COUGH* Charlie, how much of this stuff do you have?!
Charlie: ALL of it!
"Guard":...
"Luke": MMPH-HMMM!
"Palpatine": DEEEEEEEEEEEEH!
"Vader" overcame the mental check!
>Vader's mental status increased!
"Vader": No...
"Palpatine": Wait what?! You didn't say that in the original trilogy! That makes this scene far more cheesy and cliche, ruining the dramatic ten--
"Vader": NOOOOOOOOO!
"Palpatine": AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--
"Palpatine": AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--
"Palpatine": AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--
"Vader": Luke... help me take... this mask off...
"Luke": But you'll die...
"Vader": Nothing... *heavy breathing* can stop that now... Just for once... let me look on you... with my own eyes.
"Luke" takes off "Vader"'s mask.
"Luke":...Dad, why do you look nothing like me or my sister?
"Vader": Look, it's not what you think. There was a lava pit, I was trying to kill your master, he had the high ground-- wait, sister?
Just then, you all hear a call from down stairs!
Mother: Boys! Dinner's ready! Time to come down!
Echo: Oh! Okay Mom, we'll be right there!
Charlie: Awww maaaaan, we where just gettin' to the good part! I know we where kinda waiting to see what Mom'n Dad where doin', but now... I just kinda wish we had more time to play!
Echo: Hmm, I guess there is such a thing as having "too much fun". We were just trying to pass time, and now we want more of it! Gee, maybe we should do something more boring next time?
Your response:
1) Why don't we have a race!
2) We can pick this up later.
3) The fun's gotta end at some point I guess.

Really? The special edition version of Vader tossing Palpatine? Though nice touches with the guard and death scene.
Anyway, let's go with option 2, but I do have a great fear of how this chapter will ultimately play out.

I vote 4: All of the above.
Most important thing I've learned from D&D?
No matter how tempting it may be, as a DM I can't both present a problem and solve it.
Every time a DMPC or NPC fixes something a payer couldn't i'm diminishing and undermining that player's contribution.

I vote option 1 & 2: "We can continue this some other time. Race you downstairs! Last one there's rotten chew-toy!"

Bravo: S'okay lil' bro! We can pick this up later! We probably won't be able to play before bed time, but we'll definitely have time tomorrow!
Charlie: Haha! Alright, I guess you're right. We can wait a little longer!
Bravo: Now come on, let's go get some eats!
Echo: No need to rush though, don't want you two hurting yourselves!
The three of you calmly walk down the hall and past the stairs. You pass the purple pot as you walk, making sure to keep an eye on it so it doesn't break.
You reach the bottom of the stairwell, where you get a glimpse of your living room. You can't see all of it from this angle though...
Would you like to do anything before heading to dinner?

...the heck is on top of the bookshelf. Ask Echo if he remembers what that is.
Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
Yes, what is on the shelf?
Seems there was something on the wall over the couch (another painting)?
Ask them if they know about the two things.

Yeah, ask about the thing on top of the bookshelf. It looks kind of like a cricket bat that was cut in half and is only connected by a string for some reason.
Also, try to remember if the painting that was above the couch was sold or if it was another thing that was ruined accidentally.

from the design, I would guess it's a hunting rifle. a shotgun would have a rail for the pump handle visible from this angle, and something more aggressive wouldn't have so much wood, unless it's older.

Re: Case: Housepets!-A Choose Your Own Adventure Game
I think that's a rubber band gun to be honest, a hunting rifle's sling is located on it's stock(one on the bottom of the butt of the rifle/aka what you put on your shoulder, and one right below the middle of the barrel, again on the stock, in this case handguard.(stock refers to the entirety of the Firearm of which covers the metal inner workings and barrel, but is commonly associated with the butt of the firearm.)
Also it can very well be a shotgun as there are single barrel breakaction shotguns, which you usually see the classic English Poacher or English foxhunter use when not using a bolt action rifle..Also who in their right mind keeps a Firearm in such an easy to see and reach place, kinda counterproductive since if someone breaks in they have as much access to the weapon than the victim, odds are it's a rubber band gun or toy gun, and not the real deal. (If it is a real firearm it's probably a .22 or .410 shotgun probably for pest/varmint control as those aren't exactly choice self defense cartridges unless it's anything .22 hornet or up or .410 buckshot/slugs which aren't made much anymore.)
Also most firearms still use wooden stock and frames as it's cheaper most the time. Also, you would've been able to make out the trigger if it were an actual firearm.
