Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
You only need to talk to my friends (and some of their friends that I don't know) to prove that.
Of course, I don't think that my friends friends have any sanity at all.

Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
one of my friends tried to convince me that a 4 dimensional object casts a three dimensional shadow ._.
Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
Well your friend is correct... hooray for dimensional analogy

Well, they do.sonic id furreh!!! wrote:one of my friends tried to convince me that a 4 dimensional object casts a three dimensional shadow ._.
Yeah... no.Sleet wrote:Like whining and shouting matches.

FA? Sure, there are a lot of mental underachievers.Wanderer wrote:FA? Intelligent discussion?
Hahahahaha
But since we're talking about FAF here, it's the exact opposite.
Mod Edit: Use of that term as profanity is not allowed.
Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
Well I haven't been to their forums, but I think I would rather go to a forum of a more ...dignified website.

There's no need to argue about whether or not people should argue someplace else. Go there if you'd like, don't go if that's what you'd prefer. Regardless of what other websites somebody frequents we can all always come back here for milk and cookies.
Of course, four dimensional objects for testing the idea are somewhat difficult to find at the moment.
I believe Wanderer's right that it would, in theory.sonic id furreh!!! wrote:one of my friends tried to convince me that a 4 dimensional object casts a three dimensional shadow ._.

Athodyd, I'm fairly certain you're not going to get anyone to think of the FA forums as even a relatively decent place.
Sometimes I wish the world would end in 2012
Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
Not everyone on FA is stupid. I've met a lot of pretty rocking people there honestly.
I haven't been on the forums though hmm.

Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
but isn't the fourth dimension time? how would time cast a shadow
Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
isn't it 3 dimesion x time = 4 dimesion?sonic id furreh!!! wrote:but isn't the fourth dimension time? how would time cast a shadow
Re: Chat Thread 36: Get Off My Lawn!
No.sonic id furreh!!! wrote:but isn't the fourth dimension time? how would time cast a shadow
Some people think it is and in a way it counts but that's not what he's talking about.
and even if he is, that still means the shadow is three dimensional. It has length, width, and time.

Her friend is referring to Euclidean 4-space. Space-time is different.texascat018 wrote:isn't it 3 dimesion x time = 4 dimesion?sonic id furreh!!! wrote:but isn't the fourth dimension time? how would time cast a shadow

I have no experience with the FA forums, but I can say it's likely not a very decent place compared to this forum, yet quite possibly decent compared to other forums. Let's drop this subject and agree to disagree as Psykeout said.
and my mind is not blown, just bleeding a bit.

YOU'RE JUST NOT THINKING FOURTH DIMENSIONALLY!
(To be fair, the Doc had only discovered that time travel was possible a week before and had only once witnessed it occur- Marty had experienced it firsthand multiple times. He really ought to have figured stuff like this out by now).
But yeah time is sometimes called the fourth dimension so you're right in a sense
but I think it's a different concept from the fourth spatial dimension
so essentially I just restated what everyone else was able to in the time that it took me to look up that BTTF screencap.
Invaluable is a dumb word that means the opposite of what it says it meansPsykeout wrote:Cartoons are invaluable sources of knowledge.sonic id furreh!!! wrote:he doesn't have any clue what he's talking about either, he heard it off a cartoon >.>

I think I may switch mine around throughout the day, maybe go to my pony, maybe jack an avatar from a formerly active, long inactive member.
