I think memes are usually more about being fun than being funny- it's about participating and contributing. Some of them are funny, but more often they're more about just the cool experience of creating and being part of a phenomenon. And I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. The problem becomes when the clock is too slow on ushering them out and they get grating.

Long story short: Memes get overused, a fact which I'm sure you were unaware of.

Memes are about making a reference to something funny rather than the creative task of making an actual joke and tend to inflationary use because they're shorthand.

They encourage laziness and cheapen conversation.

So, interesting developments in my life. While his truck was getting the oil changed, the mechanics found a dozen peanuts in his air filter. Yes, peanuts, in the air filter. The only logical explanation is squirrels (I'm on to you Flint!) now, the illogical option is an assassin planted them hopping that my Dad was severely allergic to peanuts, killing him! But he's not, so it failed.

I TAKE zero OFFENCE TO THAT! But seriously, you are entitled to your opinion, sure, take issue with the morals, espically the ghost types, but its still a series of games I guess are still good, I dunno, I don't play them anymore. Yes, reading Homestuck precludes receiving hugs, unless special dispensation is warranted. Such consideration is granted on a case-by-case basis.
