Re: Art Thread
May I say, I love it?
It proves your point about drawing for pleasure too, Hux. It's the same character as my avatar but they're both stunning, even with the different styles.

I've been off the forums for about a month because I was making christmas presents for anybody who asked beside my family!
And I'm going to show them off here ^^
The following two are made for a Deviant going currently by the name of Silent Down-Pour:
This one here is for NickCole, he was in 7th heaven when he saw this one XD
(wouldn't know why though, its a nice picture but certainly not as good as many other far more awesome things I've seen...):
And one for the not-anymore-Folf-but-now-fox Yehoshua!:

Amazing draws, Hukley and Tattorack. Great work at that sketch, Kouri.

Thanks Cesco! And thank you kindly for the praise, Huckley
At the moment, I think I'm referring more to how you can produce a lot of good quality art so quickly. I'll admit that I can draw pretty well, but I'm also really slow, so your speed is something I envy. I'll keep working at it though

Thanks for the suggestion! I just downloaded a free-trial version of the software and so far it looks really promising. If I end up really liking it, I'm sure I can save up for it by the time the trial's over. Nice catch, Mickey!Mickey the Luxray wrote: The only one I can think of that works exceptionally well with tablets is PaintTool SAI, unfortunately that is not free software. A license is $60, but I believe it is well worth the price simply because it's a really powerful program that can do pretty much anything you want it to once you learn the strings. And there's no monthly fee either. C:

Try FireAlpaca. It's a free software that one of my friends uses.
It doesn't really seem that good for much else besides lineart from what I saw, but it's free so why not at least give it a shot?

Re: Art Thread
It's not that bad actually. It doesn't look quite as versatile as Sai, but it does some of the more basic things pretty well. Plus, it never hurts to have something else at my disposal, especially if it's free Thanks!JeffCvt wrote:Try FireAlpaca. It's a free software that one of my friends uses.

Re: Art Thread
@Kouri - SAI is pretty neat, esp in how it handles digitizer input (tablets). It has some drawbacks though, but it is worth the asking price. You may also get some use out of GIMP (http://www.gimp.org/) which is free and aims to be an Adobe Photoshop competitor. I've found it to be VERY configurable, versatile and powerful, BUT it takes some tinkering with to get working right.
Another free program I'm hoping to try sometime is MyPaint (http://mypaint.intilinux.com/), which looks simple but capable.
Also, give some consideration to MangaStudio (http://manga.smithmicro.com/), which some serious artist type folks I know have really come to love, plus it is affordable at about $50 currently.
@All - I seriously check this thread more often than I do the HP! comic, 'cause you folks keep amazing me with your work. Keep it up!
I would really love to get us all trying the Secret Drawing Santa thing again, but I'll be patient until we're ready for that. :)

Re: Art Thread
Wow look at all this Art! Sweet looking pixel art there @Hyper and freaking still life for the win there @Lex XD Love the dog.
For me I've been practicing. Finally got me a worthy avatar XD
Edit: Also I see programs were previously talked about and this was done in Manga Studio 5. I love it. I'd choose MS5 over PS for art stuff any day. I'd still get both though if you could. PS has stuff MS5 never will.
Oh and @Kouri keep at it dude. Practice with your tablet when ever you can, but don't forget to go back to paper. Going back and forth for me has helped a lot.

Great draw, Hukley. Surely Simon won't ask that again. Very nice work with the shading there, Tatsuo. That's a pretty impressive improvement to be just a doodle, Laxan.
