I've always loved the idea of magic. The only things I'm worried about with it in this RP are:
1) That it might become either the focus of the RP or lead to powerplaying and
2) That suddenly Chris's "magical" talents might become overshadowed and ignored leading to a similar situation to what drove her and Derek to SP in the first place.

Yeah, I kinda figured. Let's just keep it like it normally is without magic.

Sorry for the absence, guys. Now that I sorted out how Belisarius' pack is made, I am ready to roll!
Hlaoroo wrote:I should point out that Chris's magic is all sleight of hand and stage magic. There are no actual magical powers involved.
I think if there's to be magical capabilities involved then there needs to be a system of magic and rules for users to follow. We don't want powergaming or anything like that. Magic would also have a big impact on how this RP might turn out so it's something to be considered carefully.
That is why I am limiting Hubert's presence to the bare minimum and only in case of comic relief or dire necessity. As of now, he's helping his pupil to train with dealing with the spirit world, and heping Miles and Tara to make the best of their ghostly bodies, and that's all.
he's Janus' guardian spirit, so he'll always be watching over the wolfdog but again with no powergaming.

By the way, even though events are a little jostled the itinerary for the day is still planned to proceed as scheduled. So in case any one wants to take control of a panda now I wouldn't have a problem with it.

I think this is the longest character sheet I've ever made. :P If he gets approved, I'll probably introduce Scotty at the start of the next day.
Name: Scott “Scotty” Brandson

Neighbourhood: Sunset Plateau

Species: Domestic Short Hair Cat

Age: 5 human years/17.5 Cat years

Appearance: Scott is your typical DSH tabby with brownish grey fur marked with black stripes, an orangey-brown underside and a white chin. He wears sturdy fingerless gloves with black, reinforced palms and red backs. He keeps his tags along with his wallet in a bum bag around his waist as he’s not comfortable wearing a collar due to his injuries and he carries a tablet computer on a special carry strap around his shoulders. He’s quite buff in his upper body but his legs are somewhat scrawny. if one looks closely enough they might see a narrow, long scar running horizontally across Scotty's throat as well as a couple of other long-healed gashes and scars over his body.

Back Story: Two years ago Scott was involved in a horrific car accident which left him wheelchair-bound and mute and tragically killed his owner just weeks before his owner was to be married. His owner’s fiancée had also been in the car at the time and had survived but not without significant injuries of her own. After a lengthy recovery in the vet clinic and hospital respectively, and an attempt to rebuild their lives in their home town, Scott and his new owner, Frances, his old owner’s fiancée, had decided that for both their sakes it was time to move on and start afresh in a new place away from the painful memories. For Scott, the most difficult part was not adapting to life without the use of his hind legs and his voice but the emotional trauma of losing his owner whom he’d loved like a brother. Two years on though, and after several moves, the pair are feeling much better and Scott has not only taken to his wheelchair like a fish to water but he and Frances have become masters of charades. To make it easier for other people and pets though, Frances had surprised Scott with his tablet computer which he can use to write messages on or to speak for him with the text-to-speech function. Having heard that there are one or two other injured pets in Sunset Plateau including one who actively serves on the police force, Scott and Frances had decided to give this town a try, hoping that they would fit in and that they could finally begin a new life free from the constraints of their trauma. Frances is a somewhat successful author with several books published which brings her a modest return.

Personailty: Though he can be a little morose on the odd occasion as a result of the mental scarring from the accident, Scott is generally as chipper a fellow as you could hope to meet. He finds he actually enjoys the physical exertion of wheeling his chair around and misunderstandings in the games of charades which form a large portion of his communications with Frances have led to some hilarious moments. Scott is friendly and personable and always up for a chat. His luck is clearly none too great and he’s not particularly agile, being stuck in the chair but he’s quite strong as a result of wheeling himself around all day every day. Scott likes to keep himself as active and fit as he can, both mentally and physically and he has several apps and games to allow him to do this. He’s an avid birdwatcher and also likes to observe the squirrels, chipmunks and other wildlife – watching the Nature Channel as he jokingly calls it. He finds that since he clearly can’t leave his chair, the wildlife are willing to come much closer as long as he remains quiet, not that he could make any noise even if he wanted to.

SPECIAL: S8, P7, E7, C7, I7, A2, L4
So what do you all think?

Yay! Thank you!

I posted for him.

According to the map the house next to the Leone's is free so I took it. If it's not then I can change it. It also gives Elio an Cinzia a chance to interact if they're attentive enough to notice a single car pulling up.

Aw. I've reached my limit of 5 posts per day. I have to wait four hours before I can reply again. Well, 3.5 now.

Still in the panda village. The barracks are where the panda soldiers will live, right, xhunter?

Here, in my terrible drawing skills is Scotty. I started to colour his paw before I remembered that I wanted to leave this picture in black and white. Oh well.

This will be the color for all wolves, if you're ok.
Also: taking any HP character as reference, who could be compared to the average red panda for build and height?

In real life, they are compared to be about the size of a cat. So I'm going from there. Or as a more solid, more likely reference, the tanuki forgot his name.

I'd agree with that assessment, having seen a red panda in the zoo. They're similar in size to a cat but bulkier.

oh... okay, I was thinking that was just master shi-fu from Kung fu panda that was tiny :p

Himmies are long, slender rabbits. When posing, their some of the few who have to lie flat on their bellies. I'm not sure if Wiggins should be shorter than average, or Winni should be larger than average. Personally, I think Winni should be larger than average.

I wanna see Winni drawn by Rick!
Too bad he isn't taking comissions :/

Just to re-cap...
A red panda, twice the size of the normal red panda's, jumped out of nowhere and took up Wiggins in her arms. There is the possibility of an attack going on outside of the panda town. The barracks are filled with 50-something panda's... Now is not the time for one-liners, please! There is plenty to react to!

Thanks, Tiny. Winni said with a smile. Tiny smiled back, then asked quietly. How long do you think you'll last?

Not long, probably... I don't know.
Winni replied. Tiny patted the shoulder above Wiggins' head.
Keep it up, Winni! she encouraged. Winni smiled at Tiny, then turned back to attention.

@MrNeonShot ??? I see a soldier talking to her little sister? Never mind, NOW I see it. ON the other hand. How long has Winnifred been in the military and is Tiny always with her?

On a side note on panda characters, a lot of them are family related to Mitch in some way. I'm setting up that stuff and I'll have a sort of wiki page to help give an idea about the pandas and their daily life and culture (kids are SUPPOSED to be at the prayer tower which functions as a school as well). But if you do want to control a member of the original 42 and be a crazy uncle or something all I ask is to please keep in mind the crazy naming conventions.

Plus I'll have ACTUAL ACTUAL numbers and characters and such for specific things here soon hopefully.

Tiny is a smaller than average red panda, but despite being tiny, is actually 2 years younger than Winni. Tiny acts like Winni's backup when Winni feels to bored to put on uniform.

Winni is just joining, and is taking her first escort job, so not long.

@SuperStar Your character along with the other pets should be in the rear building of the barracks.

The wolves are still being towed carefully along the road, the others and the pandas are waiting for an all clear horn. Winnifred, a panda extra started arguing with her superior and Mitch has had enough of it so he's taken her to a back room for a talk. Meanwhile two panda kits are at the next door house of the Leone's trying to keep their use of a secret base in the crawl space above the attic talking to the new owners and Valiant and a local cop.

Don't worry about it. It does take a while to get your head around how the RPing works.
Don't be afraid to ask whatever questions you might have regarding this RP in this thread or about RPing in general in the main OOC thread. ;)

Look, its been a blast here, but this is waaay too much drama for me. I want to step down as GM now and allow someone more versed with the rp to step in, and then I will be withdrawing my characters.

Stuff has happened recently, and it doesn't help to expect comedy, only to find something dramatic waiting for me here to deal with. It seems you guys have a plan, so I'll leave you to it.

Then I would nominate Valerio. I'm hardly fit to be this roleplays GM. But really I think there should be a reexamination of the situation before we do so.

Re-examination in progress... I'll give you guys a heads up when I do.

After further thought and discussion, I have decided to stay, but I need to lay some rules down.

-Keep drama at bare minimum- I know this one is me being selfish, but I've been going through enough drama in real life that I don't want to see it so big here. I want Sunset to be a place where people can go for a break from the drama of life, so please, if you must write drama, don't make it over the top.

-Interact with other players-
Nobody wants to read about your character's progress in a movie, book, game, or anything while other characters are around. Put the book, game, or movie down until your character is alone with nothing to do.

-Any long and lengthy procedures must be placed in a background setting-
Your pet got hurt and needs a vet? Okay, take him/her. But I don't want to see how the vet put the bandage on, gave the drugs, ect. Just say
your character walked into the door to the vets to be healed
Then, when you feel an appropriate amount of time passed, say
your character finished his vet clinic visit and is now bandaged/has a cast/is all better.
I really hate to make rules because either a. I don't cover them all, b. I forget the rule, and c. Have to make exceptions for the progress of the story. I don't mean to place any burdens with these rules, but as GM, I feel they are necessary.

edit: Changed "No Drama" to "Keep drama at a bare minimum."
